Obituary of Antje
DEATH OF MRS. VER MAANEN

Mrs. John Ver Maanen died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. G. Van Holland south of Rock Valley last week Tuesday night, Feb. 11th, aged 80 years and 35 days, her death being due mostly to the natural decline of old age.

The subject of this sketch was born in the Netherlands where she grew to womanhood and spent the greater part of her life. Twenty-six years ago with her husband and children she came to this country, and for about twenty years they lived at Sioux Center, and then moved to Rock Valley where the death of her husband occurred. Later, she went to live with her daughter, Mrs. Van Holland, who together with a sister, at Sioux Center, survives her mother. The deceased was a woman of good Christian character and was highly respected by all who knew her.

Short funeral services were held at the Van Holland home and at the Old Reformed Church in Rock Valley on Friday, and the remains were taken to Valley View Cemetery for burial.

Rock Valley Bee 1919-03-21.
