Obituary of Guy Arlin

He spent his first year in Minnesota then the family moved to Long Beach, CA. Guy loved his years in Long Beach, the sunshine, the hot rods, and the beach. He took great pleasure in touring his Oregon family around all of his old stomping grounds when they went south for a visit. Guy attended public schools in the Long Beach area including Jordan High School. Formal schooling and Guy did not necessarily agree. On his 18th birthday he removed himself from school, pursued and successfully earned his GED. He had a happy childhood filled with faithful pet dogs, neighborhood friends, hot rods and motorcycles. His passion for powerful cars and bikes never left him. He was so excited when we got his Harley FLST for Christmas in 1997.

Guy worked in maintenance, millwrighting and finally as Journeyman Electrician. He was an excellent electrician who earned a reputation of doing things right the first time. He bent a pretty mean sweeping concrentric rack, a skill he honed while working for Murray Electric.

Guy moved to Oregon in 1989 to be with his mother, sister and her family. In 1991 he met his future wife Sandy Henry. She thought he looked like Jimmy Buffet, and he thought she was the funniest woman he'd ever met. On April 23, 1994 Guy, Sandy and Anna became a family. In July of 1995 Karsten Deloren (Daddy's Pokey) joined them. In September of 1998 their youngest daughter, Katherine "Kit", made the family complete.

At the time of Guy's death he was working on putting together his own electrical contracting business while still working IBEW jobs, spending all the time he could with his girls and wife, and taking his Harley out for putts on nice summer days. He was headed home for dinner on the Harley at the time of his death. He passed away as a result of injuries sustained in the motorcycle accident.

Guy leaves behind his wife Sandra Henry-Van Roekel, his daughters Anna, Karsten, and Kit all of Umpqua. His mother Delma Eves, his sister Carolyn Campbell and her husband Paul, who was like a Dad to Guy, all of Roseburg. His nephews and nieces Joshua, Brandon and Joyln; whom he loved to tease even when they got to be adults. Brother and sisters-in-law Joe and Shawn Henry, Buck and Dee Henry and Roy and Sarah Patt. Guy leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gerrit and his grandma, Josie Pinegar Eves. Services will be held Wednesday, at 3:00 p.m. August 16, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1864 NW Calkins, Roseburg. Graveside services will follow at the Coles Valley Cemetery on 9500 Melqua Road.
