Obituary of Sadie

Rock Rapids, IA

Sadie Vanwyhe, age 69 of Rock Rapids, IA died Friday, January 9, 2015 at the Sanford Rock Rapids Hospital in Rock Rapids, due to complications from esophageal cancer. Services are pending with the Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids.

Sadie was born on July 15, 1945 at Perkins Iowa to her parents, Edward and Hermina (Kiel) VanWyhe. Sadie was raised as an only child but belonged to many. She cherished the time spent with her family, her church family, and community. Sadie worked for Hope Haven until retiring at age 65. Sadie was a loyal Central Lyon fan; baseball and basketball were among her favorite outings. Sadie was a member of the First Reformed Church in Rock Rapids, Iowa. Serving in her church as a greeter, Wednesday night assistant, and faithful supporter were among her gifts. Sadie honored friends and family by remembering their birthdays, anniversaries and special events: she did not forget a face or date. Sadie broke the ice wherever she went; a conversation would surely begin when Sadie dropped by! Sadie loved children and gave of her time and energy to bless them. Innocence and honesty remain as her legacy.

Sadie is survived by her many cousins and those who cared so deeply for her. The Hope Haven staff provided the beautiful balance between care and freedom.

Sadie was preceded in death by her parents and infant sister, Margaret.
