Obituary of Deloras

Deloras M. Graff, age 73, of Rutland, died Monday, July 16, 2012, at her residence. Memorial Services will be 2:00 PM Friday, July 20th, at Grace Lutheran Church, Nunda. Private burial will precede the service at Prairie Queen Cemetery, rural Nunda. The family will be present for visitation 5 - 8 PM Thursday at Ellsworth Funeral Home.

Deloras Mae Ver Meer was born Sept. 23, 1938, at Pella, IA, to Anthony D. and Dena (Klosterman) Ver Meer. She attended Christian grade school to 8th Grade and then began working at the family café, The Dutch Inn, in Pella. Deloras married Doug Graff and they moved to Rutland, where she owned and operated Dutch Inn Grocery Store & Café. She later cooked at Rutland School for many years. She was a stay-at-home mom to four kids and later worked for Bob's Café in Wentworth. Deloras moved back to Pella and cooked at the Pella Hospital. When she returned to Rutland, she cooked at the Nunda Bar & Grill and retired in 2007.

Deloras loved spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed watching baseball games and listening to the radio. She hardly ever missed a baseball game and even watched some reruns! Her biggest hobbies were putting together puzzles and baking goodies. She enjoyed morning and afternoon coffee time in Nunda. Deloras was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid in Nunda.

Family left to cherish Deloras' memory are one son, Don Graff of Rutland; three daughters, Debra White of Sioux Falls, Donna (Donald) Mette of Wentworth and Darlene "Pete" Eich of Chester; 13 grandchildren, Matt (Sonja) Mette, Jessica (Wade) Klinkhammer, Brandon (Heather) White, Samantha (Brett) Bauman, Heidi & Brian Graff, Chris White, Casey & Ashley Mette, Kelsey, Kaylie & Kaleb Eich and Kenna Brown; four great grandchildren, Taylor, Paislee, Khloie and Alexis; one brother Marvin (Brenda) Ver Meer of Harvey, IA; one step-brother Robert (Karen) Spencer of Pella, IA; one step-sister Linda (Al) Van Kooten of Iowa Falls, IA.

Deloras was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter Denise; her step-mother Nellie Ver Meer; a brother in infancy; two sisters, Gladys Van Soelen and Albertha Newendorp, one brother Gerald "Skeeter" Ver Meer; one step-brother Gerald Meppelink; and two nephews Vernon Lee Newendorp & Larry Dean Newendorp.
