Obituary of Cornelius and Willemtje

Funeral services for Cornelius "Neal" Schalekamp, 83, were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, January 31, at the First Reformed church. The Rev.R.VanHeukelom and the Rev, Robert Bast officiated. Burial was made In the Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of the Van Etten Funeral Home. Rodney Kleinwolteriak, Robert Schalekamp, Arlin Schalekamp, D. T. Scofhorn, Charles E Brunsting and Gary J Kreykes were pallbearers.

Mr. Schalekamp passed away Friday evening in the local hospital following a very short illness. Death was due to a heart attack.

He was born September 4, 1882 [sic] at Orange City and a son of Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Schalekamp.

He married Minnie Van Roekel December 23, 1902 and the couple lived In the Orange City vicinity all their lives.

They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary in 1965.

Survivors Include the widow; four sons, R. H. of Honduras, South America, William, Marion and Adrian of Orange City one daughter, Mrs. Peter Kleinwolterink also of Orange City. Thirteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; three sisters, Miss Elizabeth Schalekamp who resides at the nursing wing of the Sioux Center Community hospital; Mrs. Merle McNutt of the Pioneer Home and Mrs. Gerrit Noteboom of Orange City also survive.

He was preceded in death by his youngest daughter, Leona in 1956; two brothers, Henry and Dick Schalekamp; three sisters, Mrs. M. Orton, Mrs. J. Van Wyk and Miss Cynthia Schalekamp and Mrs. H. De Jong.

Funeral services were held at the First Reformed church in Orange City Tuesday, April 23, for Mrs. Neal Schalekamp, 88, of Orange City, who died Saturday at the Orange City hospital.

Services were conducted by the Rev. R, Van Heukelom and burial was made in West Lawn cemetery, Orange City.

Mrs. Schalekamp was born March 12, 1880.

She was married to Neal Schalekamp December 23, 1902. He preceded her in death in 1966.

Survivors include four sons, R.H. Schalekamp of Spirit Lake, William and Adrian of Orange City and Marion of Maurice, a daughter, Mrs. Peter Kleinwolterink of Orange City; 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Obituary of Mildred and Adrian

Mildred D. Schalekamp, 73, of Orange City, died Friday, Oct. 25, at the Orange City hospital.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the First Reformed Church Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the First Reformed Church. The Rev. Cecil Martens officiated. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery. Visitation was Sunday at the Van Etten-Oolman Funeral Home.

Mrs. Schalekamp, the former Mildren D. Brink, was born Nov. 5, 1911, at Maurice, and graduated from Maurice High School.

She married Adrian Schalekamp on Sept. 1, 1939, in Orange City where they made their home.

Mrs. Schalekamp had been employed at Heritage House Nursing Home for seven years.

She was a member of the First Reformed Church and its Lydia Circle. She was also a member of the Birthday Club.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Arlin of Glenwood, Minn., and two grandchildren.

A memorial has been established in her name with Sioux County Hospice.

Adrian M. Schalekamp, 84, of Orange City, died Tuesday, July 18, 1995 at the University Hospital at Omaha, Neb.

A funeral service was held on Thursday, July, 20 at the First Reformed Church in Orange City. Rev. Robert Hector officiated.

Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery, Orange City, under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home, Orange City.

Adrian was born Aug. 7, 1910 in Orange City. He graduated from Orange City High School and Northwestern Junior College.

Adrian married Mildred D. Brink Sept. 1, 1939, at Orange City. They made their home in Orange City where he managed the Sieg Auto Parts until retiring in 1971. Mildred died Oct. 25, 1985.

Mr. Schalekamp was a member of the First Reformed Church of Orange City.

Survivors include a son, Arlin of Fergus Falls, Minn.; a brother, Marion of Orange City; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred; two brothers and two sisters.

Obituary of Marion and Jennie

Marion A. Schalekamp, 92, of Orange City died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City.

Memoria1 services will be 10 am. Monday at First Reformed Church in Orange City, with the Rev. Timothy Ouwinga officiating. Burial will be prior to the service Monday in West Lawn Cemetery.

There will be a family prayer service at 9:15 am. Monday at Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City Visitation will be after 2:30 p.m. Sunday, with the family present 2:30 to 4 p.m., at the funeral home.

Marion Adrian was born Aug. 7, 1910, in Orange City, the son of Cornelius and Wilhemina (Van Roekel) Schalekamp. He was raised in Orange City and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

On Feb. 22, 1946, he married Jennie Van Gelder in Orange City. They farmed in Maurice, Iowa, until 1974, when they moved into Orange City.

He was also employed with Vogel Paint Co. in Orange City.

In December 1997, they became residents of Heritage House.

He was a member of First Christian Reformed Church and American Legion Pressman-Kosters Post of Orange City. His life was centered around his family. He enjoyed yard work and gardening.

Survivors include his wife; two sons and their wives, Robert and Joanne Schalekamp of Orange City and Douglas and Linda Schalekamp of Sioux Falls, S.D.; two granddaughters, Wendi Schalekamp of Sioux Falls and Jackie Schalekamp of Orange City; a stepgranddaughter and her husband, Angie and Steve Scarberry of Sioux Falls; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Peter Kleinwolterink, Randall and Bertha Van Gelder, Margaret and John Reinders, Johanna Hofland, Agnes Van Gelder and Carol Van Gelder, all of Orange City, George and Fran Van Gelder of Colton. Calif., Mary and Marv Vlieger of Chandler, Minn., and Ken and Henrietta Van Gelder of Ireton, Iowa.

Jennie Schalekamp, 86, of Orange City, died Wednesday, April 14, at the Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City.

A memorial service was Saturday at 1 p.m. at First Reformed Church in Orange City with the Rev. Timothy Ouwinga officiating. Interment was at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City.

Mrs. Schalekamp was born February 2, 1918, at Ireton, the daughter of John and Anna (De Vries) Van Gelder. She was raised on a farm north of Orange Cjty.

On February 22, 1946 she married Marion Adrian Schalekamp at Orange City. They farmed at Maurice until 1974, when they moved into Orange City.

In December of 1997, they became residents of the Heritage House. He died February 13, 2003, in Orange City.

She was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City.

Survivors include her two sons and their wives, Robert and Joanne Schalekamp of Orange City and Douglas and Linda Schalekamp of Sioux Falls; two granddaughters; a stepgranddaughter; two brothers and their wives, Randall and Bertha Van Gelder of Orange City and Kenneth and Henrietta Van Gelder of Ireton; three sisters, Margaret and her husband John Reinders of Orange City, Mary and her husband Marv Vlieger of Chandler, Minnesota, and Agnes Van Gelder of Orange City; two sisters-in-law, Carol Van Gelder of Orange City and Fran Van Gelder of Colton, California; and a brother-in-law, Peter Kleinwolterink of Orange City.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Johanna Hofland; and three brothers, George, Gerrit and Charles Van Gelder.

Obituary of Genevieve, Peter and Margaret

Funeral services in the First Reformed church in Orange City November 6 for Mrs. Peter Kleinwolterink, 56, of Orange City, who died November 3 at a Sioux City Hospital.

Services were conducted by the Rev. Garrett Docter and burial was made in West Lawn Cemetery at Orange City under the direction of Van Etten Funeral home.

Mrs. Kleinwolterink was born September 13, 1912, at Orange City. She was married to Peter Kleinwolterink February 1, 1939, at Orange City.

The couple farmed southwest of Orange City until 1967 when they moved into Orange City.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Rodney, of Sioux City; a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Rawlings, of South Sioux City; four brothers, Richard of Florida, William and Adrian of Orange City and Marion of Maurice.

Peter Kleinwolterink, 96, of Orange City died Wednesday, June 6, at the Westwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sioux City.

Funeral service was Friday at 1:30 at p.m. at First Reformed church in Orange City with the Rev. David Ter Beest will officiating. Interment was at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City.

Kleinwolterink was born on December 1, 1910, at Orange City, the son of Henry John and Dena (Bonnema) Kleinwolterink. He was raised at Orange City and Sioux Center.

In 1938, he married Genevieve Schalekamp at Orange City. They farmed at Orange City until 1967, when they moved into town. She died in November 1968 in Sioux City.

On October 1, 1969, he married Margaret Dorothy Moret Bynes in Orange City. From 1971 to 1975, they lived in Boyden, where they operated the Boyden Grocery Store. They then moved to Orange City, where they managed the Pioneer Memorial Home until 1980, when they retired.

Dorothy died on April 3, 2000, in Orange City. In January of 2006, he moved to Sioux City. Since February 6 of this year, he has been a resident of Westwood.

He was a member of First Reformed Church. He enjoyed having coffee with his relatives and friends, traveling, fishing and playing cards.

Survivors include his son and his wife, Rodney and Rose-Marie Kleinwolterink of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Judy and Kenneth Rawlings of River Falls, Wisconsin; a stepdaughter and her husband, Louetta and Ronald Van Meekeren of Sheldon; a, stepson and his wife, James and Barbara Bynes, of Hull;-seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Harold Kleinwolterink of Sioux Center and.Warren Kleinwolterink and his wife Jo of Orange City.

He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter; two brothers and their, wives, John and Lorraine Kleinwolterink and Alvin and Marjorie Kleinwolterink; a sister and her husband, Johanna and Martin Vander Broek; and a sister-in-law, Eldore Kleinwolterink.

Mrs. Dorothy Bynes Kleinwolterink, age 79, of Orange City, passed away Monday, April 3, 2000 at the Orange City Municipal Hospital.

The funeral service was held Wednesday, April 5, at 1 :30 p.m. at the First Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. David Sterk officiated. Interment followed at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City with Oolman Funeral Home of Orange City in charge of arrangements.

Margaret Dorothy was born October 3, 1920, in rural Hospers, the daughter of Herman K. and Anna (Vander Poel) Moret. She was raised in the Newkirk area.

On April 21, 1941, she married Nelson Peter Bynes in Dakota City, Nebraska. They made their home in Orange City until 1952, when they began farming by Granville. In 1961, they moved to a farm by Hospers. In 1962, they returned to Orange City. Mr. Bynes passed away May 1, 1962, in Orange City.

On October 1, 1969, she married Peter Kleinwolterink in Orange City. From 1971 to 1975, they lived in Boyden, where they operated the Boyden Grocery Store. They then moved to Orange City, where they managed the Pioneer Memorial Home until 1980, when they retired.

Dorothy became a resident of the Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City in February of this year.

She was a member of the First Reformed Church.

Survivors include her husband, Pete: a daughter and her husband, Louetta and Ronald Van Meekeren of Sheldon; a son and his wife, James and Barbara Bynes of Hull; a step-son and his wife, Rodney and Rose-Marie Kleinwolterink of Sioux City; a step-daughter and her husband, Judy and Kenneth Rawlings of River Falls, Wisconsin; eight grandchildren, Lisa and her husband, Steve Antrim; Ryan Van Meekeren; Sara, Craig and Chad Bynes; Laura and her husband, Bijan Vujosevic; Stephanie and her husband, Randy Goglin; and Christopher Rawlings; three greatgrandsons, Craig and Joshua Goglin; and Nikolas Vujosevic; a sister and her husband, Sally and the Rev. Douglas Ostlund of Bertha, Minnesota; and a step-sister, Alvina Den Hartog of Orange City.

In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by a step-sister, Jeanette Fiebeg.

Memorials are being directed to the Orange City Municipal Hospital Diabetes Education Department.

Funeral services were held at the First Reformed Church in Hull at 1:30 P.M., April 15 for Theodore Brunsting, 54, of Hull, who died April 12 at his home of an apparent heart attack.

Burial was in Hope Cemetery at Hull.

Mr. Brunsting was born in Hull September 26, 1920. He married Betty De Vos June 18, 1957, in Hull. They farmed in the Hull area.

He was a World War II army veteran and a past commander of Wegman Koele American Legion Post of Hull.

Survivors include the widow; two sons, Charles and Dennis; four daughters, Sandra, Laura, Linda and Rachel; two grandchildren, his mother Mrs. Rosena Brunsting, a sister, Ann; and four brothers, Gerald, Harvey, Edwin and Alvin.
