Graveside services for Miss Elizabeth Rietveld, 91, of Pella were held January 16 at the Oakwood Cemetery in Pella, the Rev. Ross Davidson officiated.
Elizabeth Rietveld, a daughter of Cornelius and Gertrude Van Roekel Rietveld, was born on August 14, 1911, north of Pella. She was baptized at the Bethel Reformed Church and attended country grade school near Pella.
Elizabeth lived with her parents near Pella until moving into town with her sisters. They made their home together at 907 East Second Street and found security in each other’s companionship.
In 1996 she made her home at the Hilltop Manor South in Pella, where she remained a resident until the time of her death.
Elizabeth passed away early Tuesday morning, January 14 at the Pella Regional Health Center. She was the last surviving member of her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her two sisters: Henrietta Rietveld who died in 1996 and Denabell (Rietveld) Cunningham who died in 1990, and her two brothers: Dirk C. Rietveld who died in 1998 and Harold C. Rietveld who died in 1984; and sister-in-law, Helen D. (Dirk) Rietveld who passed away in 1993.
Arrangements were handled by Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella.
Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Pella.
