Obituary of Willa Mae

Willa Bensink age 93 of Montezuma, Iowa passed away peacefully Tuesday morning at the Grinnell Regional Medical Center in Grinnell, Iowa. Burial in the Oakwood Cemetery in Pella, Iowa.

Willa Mae De Bruin was the daughter of Cornelius John and Maria D Van Der Hoek De Bruin. She grew up near Leighton, Iowa with her sister and two brothers. Upon graduating from Pella High school in 1941 she worked as a bookkeeper with Farmers Union Coop.

She was married to Willis J. Dieleman on June 28, 1944 and they were blessed with three boys, Gail, Bruce and Randall.

After losing Willis in a tragic farm accident in 1963, Willa moved to Montezuma and began employment with the ASCS office. When that job was eliminated, Willa worked at the Montezuma State Bank, retiring after 31 years of service.

Willa was married to Elvin Bensink on February 8, 1975.

Following Willa’s retirement from the bank in 1995, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, vacationing and helping Elvin with his woodworking hobby and attending craft shows.

She also enjoyed doing chair caning and any kind of stitchery. Willa was very proud of her yard and enjoyed taking care of her beautiful flower garden.

She was a very faithful member of the First Presbyterian Evangelical Church for 60 years where she was once a Trustee, the Christian Education Director and the Superintendent of Sunday School. Willa also served 28 years as the church treasurer.
