JEANETTE VERNA SANKEY, age 92, of Worthington, died Saturday, March 17, 2007 at the Southshore Care Center in Worthington. She was born on April 13, 1914 in Fenton Township, Murray County, MN; to parents Leonard and Hattie (Van Roekel) Vos.

Jeanette attended country school near the village of Chandler, MN. Jeanette was united in marriage to Marinus Sankey on June 19, 1936 in Chandler, MN. Jeanette raised a family and worked at the Campbell Soup Company in Worthington for many years.

The family then moved to California in 1961 where Jeanette worked at various craft shops because of her love for making many different crafts. She donated many of her crafts to churches that would ship them to other countries. In 1976, Jeanette and Marinus moved back to Worthington where she continued with her craft studies.

She is survived by her seven children, Leon (Ingrid) Sankey, Las Vegas; Jim (Torch) Sankey, Worthington; Donna Hupe, Torrance, CA; Duane Sankey, Rodella (Rocky) Roquemore and Bernice Roe all of Boise, ID; Rod Sankey, Worthington; 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marinus, three brothers, one great granddaughter and one great grandson.

Jeanette was buried at Worthington Memorial Gardens, Worthington, Nobles Co., MN:

JIMMIE L. SANKEY, age 72, of Worthington, died, Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at his home. He was born January 22, 1936 in Chandler, MN; to parents Marinus and Jeanette (Vos) Sankey. At the age of sixteen he moved to California where he worked for U.S. Royal Tire Company. He later owned & operated several Mobile gas stations. Jimmie was united in marriage to Lotilda Busse on May 20, 1958. They made their home in Torrance and Rolling Hills, California.

They moved back to Worthington, in Sept. of 1976, where he owned and operated Import Repair and Exhaust Pros with Joe Cumming. He later sold the business to Joe Cumming. He retired from working at the age of 55.

He is survived by his wife, Lotilda (Torch) Sankey, Worthington; three children, Barbara (Clifton) Schei, Worthington; Karen Hinds, Worthington; and Bryant (Kimberly) Sankey, Rochester, eight grandchildren, Travis (Joezy) Hinds, Michael (Trinka) Schei, Troy Hinds, Susan Schei, Chad Hinds, and Nicole, Jessica & Amanda Sankey; three great grandchildren, Nevaeh Hinds, Jacob Monty-Hinds & Briseis Schei; two brothers, Leon (Ingrid) Sankey, Las Vegas, NV; and Rodney Sankey, Worthington, MN; three sisters, Donna Hupe, Torrance, CA; Berniece Roe, Boise, ID and Rodella (Rocky) Roquemore, Boise, ID. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Duane.
