Obituary of Jeanette Bernice
Jeanette B. Thuringer, age 96, of St. Peter, Minnesota, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Pheasant's Ridge in St. Peter. Jeanette was born May 9, 1921 in Moulton Township, Murray County, MN to Bernie and Hattie (Bruxvoort) Van Roekel. She is a 1939 graduate of Chandler High School.

She Married Willian Thuringer on June 14, 1941 in Slayton, MN. They lived in Murray County and then St. Paul where Jeanette worked at Strauss's Knitting and Amaco Plastics before retiring in 1981. After her husband, Bill's, passing, she moved to St. Peter in 1997. She enjoyed stained glass work, embroidery, crocheting, puzzles, reading, Christian music, bingo, volunteering and singing. A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Pheasants Ridge and the Hospice Staff for their wonderful care.

Left to remember Jeanette are her children: William, Jr., Ronald (Barb), John, Janice Venneman, Mary (Mark) Johnson, Barb Sunderman and Ann (Jim) Neary; several grandchildren; her sister, Gladys Van Roekel-Berger (back row, far left in 2014) and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years: William, Sr., children: Patricia Dion, David and Edward Leroy; brothers: Melvin L. Van Roekel and Brant Gerald Van Roekel; sister: Durella Van Roekel, and her parents.

The funeral was at 11:00 am Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Sunrise Assembly of God Church, St. Peter with visitation one hour prior. Burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. St. Peter Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

Jeanette's granddaughter, Bridget McMahon, was feeling blessed when she wrote about her: "My 96-year-old grandma went to heaven last week. Both my grandmas have left such a wonderful legacy of faith in God! I'm eternally Thankful!"
