Obituary of Ada

Ada Elizabeth Brummel was born on June 27, 1916, the daughter of Henry and Bertha Roorda Brummel, at Leighton. She attended school in Leighton.

She was united in marriage to Raymond Van Roekel of Pella, atPella. The couple made their home in Pella. Mr. Van Roekel died in 1951.

Ada moved to Thor in 1952, and was united in marriage to Carl S. Olson of Thor, on June 20, 1953, at Thor.

She was a member of the Ullensvang Lutheran Church and its circles. Ada Olson entered the North Care Center at Humboldt on February 21. She died there on March 4,1990, at the age of 73 years, eight months, and seven days.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Clara Lanser, and Bernice Goematt, and one brother, Virgil Brummel.

She is survived by her husband, Carl; sons, Jerry Van Roekel and wife, Joyce, Bartlesville, Okla.; Tom Olson and wife, June, Eagle Grove; three daughters, Mrs. Don (Phyllis) Bishop, Des Moines; Gail Myer, Marshalltown; and Mrs. (Cathy) Meyers, Jamestown, N. Y.; two brothers, Howard Brummel and wife, Nancy, Monroe; James and wife, Marilyn, Oskaloosa; five sisters, Mrs. Lester (Edna) Klein, Oskaloosa; Mrs. Orville (Esther) Bensink; Pella, Mrs. Ben (Ann) Groenendyk, Mrs. Herman (Virginia) Simmons, and Mrs. Ray (Mildred) De Zwarte, all of Oskaloosa; 18 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 7, at 2 p.m. at the Ullensvang Lutheran Church, Thor. The Rev. John Sersland officiated and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.

Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home, Eagle Grove, was in charge of arrangements.
