Cornie Van Tol, 71, died Friday December 28, 1979 at the Hegg Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. Services were held Monday at the First Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Roger Bultman officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetary at Doon, IA with the Porter Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Cornie Van Tol was born March 19, 1908, at Sioux Center IA. He married Annetta Mulder on October 5, 1932, at Doon IA. They lived in Grand Rapids, MI, for 20 years, and moved to Rock Valley, IA, in October 1977.

Annetta Van Tol was born October 5, 1912 at Doon, the daughter of Joe and Kate (Otten) Mulder. She married Cornie Van Tol October 5, 1932 at Doon. They lived in Doon until moving to Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1960. They moved to Rock Valley, IA in 1977. Cornie died on December 28, 1979.
Annetta was a nurses aide in Grand Rapids, and had taught Sunday School in Doon and Grand Rapids. She was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church, Senior Citizens and the Foster Grandparent Program. She was very skilled at crocheting and knitting, receiving many awards at local fairs. Annetta died Sunday, May 14, 1995 at the Hegg Memorial Hospital at the age of 82 years.
She was preceded in death by a son, Leo Glenn on January 27, 1953; her husband, Cornie; two brothers, Richard and Edwin; and a sister Thelma Dykstra.

Leo was born to Mr. and Mrs. Cornie Van Tol on May 7, 1933 in the town of Doon, where he lived all his life except for a short time when he was employed at Grand Rapids, MI. He was educated in the Doon Christan School and Western Christian High School. Leo Glenn Van Tol attained the age of 19 years, 8 months and 21 days. He died January 28, 1953 at about 12:20 AM as the passenger in a fatal automobile accident near Doon.
Funeral services were conducted at the Doon Christan Reformed Church with the Reverend Carl Toeset officiating. Miss Margery Caswell, a high school class mate of the deceased, rendered organ music at the rite. A mixed quartett sang "God's Way" and "Waiting on Jesus". John Vander Ark of Hull sang "God Understands". Pallbearers were Earl Gort, Gerald Otten, Joe Van Engen, Herman Gorter, Lester Moget and LeRoy Te Slaa. Interment was made in the Doon Cemetery.
Kit Kooima, 86, of Rock Valley, passed away on Monday, March 14, 2022 at Whispering
Heights in Rock Valley.
Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 21, 2022 at First Christian Reformed
Church in Rock Valley with Rev. Matthew Haan officiating.
Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery.
Kittie Joy Van Tol was born January 1, 1936 in Doon, Iowa to Cornie and Annetta (Mulder) Van Tol. The second child and only daughter of 6 children. She went to Doon Christian School and Western Christian School, graduating in 1953. Following high school, she worked as a telephone operator and then as a bookkeeper at Valley State Bank in Rock Valley.
One night in 1955, she was walking down main street in Rock Valley with her friend Esther, when Esther’s boyfriend and his friend stopped to pick them up. So Kit and Bob ended up riding in the back seat together. Bob and Kit were married December 7, 1956 in Doon, Iowa and lived in Rock Valley for about 10 years until they moved "out of town" to the east side of Rock Valley. She was a homemaker for many years until she started foster care of Hope Haven clients. She also drove a bus for foster grandparents as well as River Valley students. Bob and Kit enjoyed singing duets and would sing gospel music with the family. Her hobbies included sewing clothes for her family, crocheting and knitting, scrapbooking, crocheting beads on baby socks, collecting glassware, especially blue delft, and giving gifts and cards for special occasions. She enjoyed attending gospel music concerts and spending winters in Arizona. She went for coffee with the same group of friends for over 50 years! Kit was an active member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley.
