Obituaries of Cornelius and Elizabeth

Cornelius Dolieslager, 88, of Sioux Center died Wednesday, November 11, in a Sioux City hospital.

Services were at 1:30 p.m. Friday, November 13, at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center, the Rev. Duane Tinklenberg officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens in Sioux Center.

Dolieslager was born August 19, 1899, in Sioux Center, where he lived his youth and attended school.

He married Lizzie Proper February 27, 1923, in Sioux Center. The couple farmed near Sioux Center.

He was a member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church and served as deacon.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gerald and Corwin, both of Sioux Center; two brothers, Bill of Osseo, Minnesota, and Bob of Sheldon; a sister, Nellie De Vries of Montevideo, Minnesota; and seven grandchildren.

Elizabeth Dolieslager, 92, of Sioux Center died Thursday. October 17, at her residence.

Services were at 1:30 p.m. Monday, October 21, at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center with the Rev. Robert Holwerda officiating. Burial was In Memory Gardens Cemetery.

The former Elizabeth Proper was born June 29, 1899, at Sheldon. She lived her youth in the Sioux Center area and attended Sioux Center Christian School.

She married Cornelius Dolieslager February 27, 1923, at Sioux Center. He died November 11, 1987.

She was a member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church and a member of the Sunshine Circle.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Corwin and Harriet Dolieslager of Sioux Center: a daughter-in-law, Alwena Dolieslager of Sioux Center; a sister, Carrie Klein of Sioux Center; a brother-in-law, Wessel Enkhorn of Bellflower, California; seven grandchildren; and four greatgrandchildren.

Obituaries of Gerald and Arwena

Gerald Dolieslager, age 60, passed away December 9, 1990.

Gerald, son of Corneilius and Elizabeth (Proper) Dolieslager, was born August 24, 1930, at Sioux Center, Iowa. He lived his youth in Sioux Center and attended school there.

He was united in marriage to Alwena Van Dyke at Sheldon, Iowa. They lived in Sioux Center all their married life. Gerald had a trucking business of local cattle and grain and later they had an upholstery business out of their home.

He was a member of the Bethel Christian Reformed Church and the V.F.W. He belonged to the National Guard Co. 1-133rd Infantry of Sheldon, Iowa from June, 1948 to June, 1952. He served with the United States Army overseas in Korea from April, 1952 to March, 1954.

He is survived by his wife; a son and his wife, Gary and Michelle Dolieslager, of Sioux Center; a daughter and her husband, Carol and Marty Kiers, of Hull, Iowa; two grandsons, Jerad and Levi; his mother; and a brother, Corwin. He was preceded in death by his father, Cornelius.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, December 12, 1990, at the Bethel Reformed Church in Sioux Center, with the Rev. Robert Holwerda officiating. Interment was at the Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center.

Alwena Dolieslager was born on March 15, 1935 to John and Dora (Riedstra) Van Dyke, in Rapelje, Montana. The family moved to Fremont, Michigan in March of 1944 when Alwena was nine years old. She attended Fremont Christian School, and graduated from Fremont High School in 1953. After graduation she moved to Sheldon, Iowa, where she was employed by Prins Insurance in Sanborn.

Alwena was united in marriage to Gerald Dolieslager, of Sioux Center, on March 15, 1957 at the Sheldon Christian Reformed Church. She was a member of the Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center.

Alwena and Gerald spent their married life living on an acreage by Sioux Center where Gerald had a trucking business. Alwena was a child day care provider for many years, and helped her husband in the upholstery business. Later, she worked for the Big Dutch in Sioux Center.

Alwena is survivived by her two children; Carol (Bryan) Vande Stouwe, of Hull, IA, and Gary (Teri) Dolieslager of Sioux Center, IA; four grandchildren, Jerad (Emma) Kiers, Levi Dolieslager, Jacob (Kendra) Dolieslager, Mitchell (Jennifer) Kiers; five step grandchildren, Travis (Alex) Vande Stouwe, Brad Vande Stouwe, Amanda (Bryan) Turner, Tyler (Melissa) Majerus, and Ryan Majerus; eleven great grandchildren; her brother, Abe (Everdean) Van Dyke; sister-in-law Doreen Van Dyke; brother-in-law Corwin (Harriet) Dolieslager; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; her siblings, Tom (Bertha) Van Dyke, Albert Van Dyke, Jessie (Ken) Lemmer, Henrietta (Leonard) Tellinghuisen; and a granddaughter, Carly Kiers.
