Cherished grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather of many. U.S. Navy WWII (Pearl Harbor Veteran).
Graveside services will be held at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, (Rittman, OH) Monday, October 28, 2013 at 11:00 AM. Arrangements provided by the A. RIPEPI AND SONS FUNERAL HOME, MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, OHIO.

John G. Vanden Berg, 69, died May 10 at Sioux Falls where he had lived for several years. Funeral services were held May 14 at 10 a.m. in the East Side Presbyterian church there and at 2 p.m. at the Porter Funeral Home here with burial at Valley View cemetery.
Mr. Vanden Berg was born July 7, 1896, at Sioux Center. He married Henrietta Vande Weerd and they lived at Rock Valley before moving to Sioux Falls.
Survivors include the widow, Henrietta, two sons, Arie and Gerald, both of Sioux Falls, and one daughter, Celia, Mrs, Virgil Pursley of Davenport. Two brothers, Bert of Rock Valley and William of Sioux Center, and 14 grandchildren also survive.
Pallbearers were Bradley Bauman, Allan and Robert Vande Weerd, Darrell, Ted and Clarence Vanden Berg. Mrs. August De Ruyter and Mrs. Dave Altena sang.

Funeral services were held at the Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley November 17 for Mrs. John Van Den Berg, 72, of Rock Valley, who died at the Rock Valley Hospital November 14. Services were conducted by the Rev. Ralph Ten Clay and burial was made in Valley View cemetery at Rock Valley.
The former Henrietta Vande Weerd was born January 11, 1898, at Anthon. She was married February 12, 1920, at Rock Valley. Her husband preceded her in death in 1966.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Virgil Pursley of Davenport; two sons, Arie of Sioux Falls and Gerald of Minneapolis; a sister, Mrs. Ted Bauman of St. Petersburg, Fla.; five brothers, Bert, Art, John of Rock Valley, Henry of Sioux City and Herman of Schaller; 14 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
