John B. Vos, son of Baldwin Vos and Anna Vander Zalm was born in the province of Gelderland, the Netherlands on August 21, 1868. He departed this life on the evening of February 6, 1948 at his home, 507 Washington St. He attained the age of 79 years, 5 months and 16 days.
At the age of two and a half years he came to America with his parents and has since resided in this community. In 1894 he was united in marriage to Jennie Beyer. To this union six children were born: Ben, Ed, Sophia (Mrs. Flor Geurts) and Bertha of Pella and Nellie (Mrs. Dave De Cook) of Sigourney. He is survived by his children, seven grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Jacob Zwank and a brother, Henry Vos.
He was preceded in death by his wife, one brother and five sisters.
In December of the year 1929 he made confession of his faith uniting with the Third Reformed Church. In all his acts he was a true Christian and was very faithful in attendance of divine worship. By nature he was a man of a friendly and kind disposition and will be greatly missed\ by his entire family and friends.
We miss thee from our home, dear fatherFuneral services were held on Monday, February 9, 1948 at 2 p.m, at the family home and 2:30 p.m. from the Third Reformed Church with Rev. L. J. Borst officiating. Interment at Oakwood cemetery.
We miss thee from thy place;
A shadow o'er our life is cast,
We miss the sunshine of thy face
We miss thy kind and willing hand
Thy fond and earnest care;
Our home is dark without thee
We miss thee everywhere.

death of our dear father, John B. Vos.
