Prairie City (Special) - Funeral services for Mrs. John (Nettie) Beyer, 81, a
longtime resident of Prairie City, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Prairie
City Christian Reformed Church.
The Rev. William Vande Kieft, pastor of the church, will conduct the services.
Burial will be in Westview cemetery at Prairie City.
Travis Walters funeral home in Prairie City is in charge of arrangements.

Life Story of Edward Beyer
Funeral Services were held Friday, august 17 at the First Baptist Church in Monroe, Iowa, for Edward Beyer. Rev. Eldon Pals officiated with interment in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe. Mr. Beyer passed away August 14, 1979, at the Collins Memorial Hospital in Knoxville.
Edward Beyer, the son of John and Nettie (Van Zee) Beyer was born on July 20, 1904, north of Pella, Iowa, moving at an early age to Prairie City where he spent his boyhood on the family farm west of Prairie City, Iowa.
He was married on December 24, 1928, to Sarah M. Kinart. They resided on a farm west of Prairie City until they moved east of Monroe March of 1937 where they spent their lives until they retired in 1965 moving to Monroe where they presently reside.
To this union were born four children, Mrs. Charles (Viola) Burmeister of Des Moines; Harold (Betty Phifer) and Harvey (Marlene Vander Hoek), both of Newton, and David of Newton. Ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, sister, Alma, and brother Gerritt.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah, his four children, and two brothers, Clarence of Prairie City and Albert of Muskegon, Michigan, and two sisters, Mrs. Jake (Bessie) Bruxvoort of Newton and Mrs. Don (Jeanetta) Carruth of Ellsworth.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Monroe, Iowa.
Services for Sarah M. Beyer were held Saturday, December 28, 2002, at the Monroe First Baptist Church. Officiating the services were Pastor Dr. Robert Damokos and Pastor Eldon Pals. Burial was in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe. Sarah passed away Tuesday, December 24,2002, at the Fountain West Care Center in West Des Moines. The family has suggested that memorials go to the First Baptist Church and the Monroe Emergency Unit.
Born May 4, 1908, in Prairie City, Sarah was the daughter of John A. and Flora Jane Woody Kinart. She was a graduate of Prairie City High School and attended Central College. She married Edward Beyer December 24, 1928, in Monroe. Sarah was a homemaker and was a member of the First Baptist Church, Forever Young Club, and Women's Missionary Society.
Survivors are three sons and daughters-in-law, Harvey J. and Marlene Beyer of Monroe, Harold L. and Betty Beyer of Monroe, and David J. Beyer of Monroe; one daughter, Viola Burmeister of Des Moines; 10 grandchildren; 1 step-grandchild; 18 great-grandchildren; 8 step-great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and 3 step great-great grandchildren. She also leaves a sister, Letha Schakel of Monroe.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, husband, and a grandson.
Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law: Clarence & Clara Beyer of Prairie City and her sister and brother-in-law Jeanetta & Don Caruth of Ellsworth, several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jacob on Nov 25, 1988, a sister, Alma; and 3 brothers Edward, Albert, and Gerrit.
Following their marriage Charlotte and Albert farmed near Prairie City, Iowa. In 1950 they moved to Pella, Iowa and in 1960 they moved to Oskaloosa, Iowa where Albert operated service stations. Eleven years later they moved to Michigan. They resided in Grand Rapids until moving to Muskegon.
Albert passed away in 1985. Following his death Charlotte moved to Jenison, Michigan where she lived until moving to Zeeland. Zeeland, Michigan was her residence the remainder of her lifetime where she was cared for until the time of her death. She passed away on Saturday morning, November 14, 2009, at the age of 89 years.
Charlotte is survived by her children: Gene and Bonnie Beyer of Benson, Arizona, Philip Kinnisten who lives in North Carolina, John and Stephanie Beyer of Holland, Michigan, and Julie Aumueller of Grand Rapids, Michigan; as well as her grandchildren: Sandra (Beyer) Nederveld, Gary Beyer, Matthew Kinnisten, Andrew Kinnisten, Jonathan Beyer, Claire Beyer, Jessica Aumueller, Christopher Aumueller; and ten great-grandchildren. Three sisters : Adrianna (Gerrit) Roose of Pella, Iowa, Johanna Spykerman of Holland, Michigan and Louise (Wilbur) Nikkel of Pella survive her along with a brother-in-law: Joel Spykerman of Holland, and three sisters-in-law: Freda (Wiebe) Goodyk and Esther (Case) Goodyk both of Pella, and Gertrude (Peter) Goodyk of Newton, Iowa; as well as numerous nephews and nieces. Charlotte was the last remaining member of her generation in her late husband Albert's family.
She was preceded in death by him, an infant son, her daughter, Mary Kinnisten, who died in 2003, a daughter-in-law, Joyce (Gene) Beyer who died in 2002; her parents, Johannes and Sadie Goodyk; her five brothers: Wiebe Goodyk, Cornelius Goodyk, Peter Goodyk, Henry Goodyk and his wife, Betty, Jacob Goodyk and his wife, Wilma; a sister, Tena (Gerrit) Roose; and two brothers-in-law: Gerrit Roose and Wilbur Nikkel.

Donald Denham Caruth was born July 12, 1921, to Charles Edward and Frances Elizabeth (Hawks) Caruth on the family farm north of Ellsworth. He grew up in Ellsworth, graduating from Ellsworth High School in 1939. He served in the U. S. Army on Okinawa.
He married Jeanetta Beyer Feb. 24, 1949, in Prairie City. They farmed near Ellsworth. He studied to be a machinist in Fort Dodge. He worked at Modern Farm Systems in Webster City and Allen Machine Co. in Ames and Nevada. He retired in 1990 following a stroke.
He is survived by one son, Creig (Helen) of Nevada; one daughter, Nancy (Mahood) Naim of Salt Point, N.Y.; seven grandchildren, Cleiton, Christian, Tawnya, Donyel, Nadia, Nyla, and Nikki; one brother, Wallace Caruth of Coal Valley, Ill.; and two sisters, Roberta Mather of Humboldt and Mary Bea Tolstrup of Webster City.
