She was united in marriage to William Van Roekel on February 1, 1934 at Sioux Falls SD. After their marriage they made their home in Sanborn. Her husband William preceded her in death in 1968 and she continued to make her home in Sanborn. She passed away suddenly at St Luke s Medical Center at Sioux City. Iowa on December 14 1980 at he age of 69 years, three months and 27 days.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs Tom (Marlene) Packman of Holbrook, Arizona Mrs Leo (Jolene) Tonner of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, Sandra Van Roekel of Sanborn Iowa, two sons, David, of Cherokee, Iowa and Terry of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa 12 grandchildren, three brothers Herman Block of Rock Valley, Iowa, Robert Block of Mason City Iowa and Albert Block of Ingleside, Ill, three sisters Mrs Martin (Amy) Maranell of Sanborn, Iowa, Mrs George (Edna) Dolphin of Melvin Iowa and Mrs Florence Vander Weil of Sioux City, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William, one daughter, Candice Mae, six brothers two sisters, and one grandchild.
She was a member of St John's Lutheran Church of Sanborn, Iowa.
Funeral services were held at St John's Lutheran Church Sanborn on Wednesday December 17 at 1:30 pm with Rev Frederick Kempfert officiating. Casket bearers were David Van Roekel, Scott Van Roekel, Donald Tonner, Kenneth Sch????, Norman Sch?mer and Rick Maranell. Interment was in Roseland Cemetery, Sanborn with the Sanborn Funeral Home in charge.

On August 30, 1944, Pauline was united in marriage to Robert G. Scholten at DeLand,FL. They spent one year on a farm by Boyden, lived in Ames, IA for six years, and then moved to Sanborn, IA where they resided for 18 years. They moved to Worthington, MN and later, lived in Artesia, CA from 1976 to 1984, and returned to Sanborn. Pauline passed away at the Sanford Sheldon Medical Center in Sheldon, IA, on January, 15, 2013 at the age of 89. Pauline loved to entertain and play cards. She was a devoted wife and mother and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She was a member of the First Reformed Church in Sanborn.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Robert G.; children: Robert Scholten of Bellflower, CA, Rowann (Glenn) Bylsma of Norwalk, CA and their children: Brian Bylsma of Norwalk, CA, and Michelle (Ryan) Moore of Newport Beach, CA, Bruce (Laurie) Scholten and their children: Scott and Sara Scholten all of Bellflower, CA; and one brother, Harold (Grace) Saarloos of Victorville, CA; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Gilbert, Elmer and John Saarloos, and Bill Van Roekel.
