Obituaries of Teunis and Clazina

Funeral services for Teunis Fluit, 80, who passed away Monday, October 15, at Inwood, Ia., will be held Thursday, October 18, at 12 o'clock at the home in Inwood and at 2 o'clock at the Netherlands Reformed church of Rock Valley. Burial will be held at the Valley View cemetery.

Mr. Fluit was born December 4, 1875, in Bennekom, Netherlands. In 1902 he was united in marriage to Clazina Meyers, who preceded him in death in 1944, and to this union nine children were born, eight of whom survive.

They include Henry of Rock Rapids; William of Inwood; Tena, Mrs. Gerrit Rozeboom, of Doon; Gertie, Mrs. Henry J. Van Voorst, of Hull; Clazina, Mrs. Henry R. Hoefakker, of Rock Valley; Jella of Orange City; Dora, Mrs. Ray Klaarenbeek, of Inwood; and Teunis of Alvord. There are also 62 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren surviving.

His oldest daughter, Jennie, Mrs. William Rozeboom, preceded him in death in 1948.

Mrs. Teunis Fluit, a former resident of Sioux Center passed away at her home in Rock Valley on April 20, at the age of 68 years following a heart attack. Funeral services were held on Monday, April 24.

She leave to mourn her husband, 4 sons and 5 daughters. Mr. Henry Fluit of Rock Rapids, William Fluit of Inwood, Jella Fluit of Larchwood, Teunis Fluit Jr. of Inwood, Jennie (Mrs. William Rozeboom), Tena (Mrs. Gerrit Rozeboom of Inwood), Gertie (Mrs. Henry Van Voorst of Sioux Center), Clazina (Mrs. Henry Hoefakker of Rock Valley), Dora (Mrs. Ray Klarenbeek of Inwood) and one sister Mrs. Gerrit Van Donkelaar.

Obituaries of Henry and Gertie

Funeral services will be held here at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Netherlands Reformed church for Henry J. Van Voorst, 51, long-time resident of this vicinity, who died at his home of a heart attack. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Lamain of Grand Rapids, Mich., and burial will be made in the Sioux Center Community cemetery. Vander Ploeg Funeral Home of Sioux Center is in charge of arrangements. A brief service is to be held at the home preceding the service at the church.

Mr. Henry Van Voorst was born April 6, 1908, in the Netherlands. On January 3, 1934, he was united in marriage to Gertie Fluit at Lester.

One brother, Jacob, Jr., of Rock Valley, his father, Jake, Sr., and one sister (who died in infancy) preceded him in death.

Gertie Van Voorst, passed away Friday night in Sioux Center at the age of 75 years. On January 3, 1934, in Lester, Iowa, she was united in marriage to Henry J. Van Voorst who preceded her in death on December 7, 1959.

She was preceded in death by four grandchildren, four brothers and one sister.

She had been a life-long resident of the Sioux Center area, moving into Sioux Center a few years after Henry had died. Her passing is mourned by her many friends and relatives.

Services at the Vander Ploeg Chapel at 1:30 P.M. and 2:00 P.M. at the Netherlands Reformed Church on Tuesday, August 4, 1987. Burial in the Memory Gardens Cemetery, Sioux Center, Iowa on Tuesday, August 4, 1987.
