Maida Eloise Turnvull Ver Steegh gracefully left us all during her sleep on November 24, 1999. She was born on May 13, 1923, in Logan Township, Marshall county, Iowa.
She will be missed by the yin of her yang, Robert J. Freihoff and survived by their families.
She is survived by her siblings, William, Eileen, Raymond, Robert, and families; daughter Kim Minasian, Jeri, Stephanie Dipaolo, Doug, Dale Pipelow; and stepdaughters, Gail Reese, Martha Sterling, and families; grandchildren, Allen Minasian, Andrea Jessup, Tony and John Dipaolo, and Alice Pipelow and families; and great-grandchildren.
She will always be remembered as Grandma Cookie.
Cremation per her wishes through Eternity Service, Orange, California. Memorial services at New Hope Community Chuch, Pastor Paul Estebo.
Lloyd E. "Dutch" Ver Steegh, 95, of Fort Worth, TX, died on Wednesday, October 31, in the presence of his family. Dutch was born near New Sharon, Iowa to Walt and Hattie Ver Steegh.
He married Rachel Phillips in 1944 while he served as a Naval Aviator in the South Pacific. Dutch attended Central College, graduated from Iowa State University, and was a newspaper editor in Iowa and Nebraska. He moved his family to the Chicago area in 1956 and managed advertising accounts his entire career in Chicago and Atlanta until retiring to Fort Worth in 1988.
Dutch was an avid golfer, a fine aviator and deck officer, a great story-teller and he enjoyed socializing with his many friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his wife Rachel.
He is survived by his children Carrie (Jack) Shreffler, Jody (Charlie) O'Connell, Jack (Nancy) Ver Steegh, Jane (Bill) Hertel, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a celebration of Dutch's life at Ridglea Country Club from 2 - 4 PM on November 4, 2018. In lieu of flowers, donations to or Fort Worth Public Library are appreciated. Private interment and military honors at DFW National Cemetery to be scheduled at later date.
