Obituary of Cornelius:
His parents were Wouter Van Rooyen and Hendrika Beyer. He died in a farm accident while up in the grainery repairing the grain door in the roof. He missed a step and fell, resulting in internal injuries. He died 20 minutes later. His wife died in 1929. He and his wife had one daughter, Henrietta, who married John G. De Jong. This information from two obits on Cornelius. Alton Democrat, Aug 2, 1935, p. 8, col 1, and Sioux Center News dated Aug 1, 1935, p. 1, col 6.

He is found with his father, stepmother, and siblings in 1870 census, Sioux Co,IA. His mother, Hendrika Beyer, died in Pella, Iowa.

Obituary of Henrietta:
MRS. JOHN G. DE JONG

Funeral services for Mrs. John G. De Jong, 78, who died Jan. 14 at the Orange City hospital, were at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Trinity Reformed church, Orange City. Rev. Donald Lendrink officiated and burial was in the Orange City cemetery.

Mrs. De Jong was born February 15, 1884, near Newkirk, Ia. She was married to John G. De Jong February 23, 1907. The couple farmed 35 years in this area before moving to Orange City. Mr. De Jong died in 1956.

Mrs. De Jong, graduated from Northwestern academy, was a school teacher five years. She was active in church and community affairs and was a charter member of her church.

Survivors include two sons, Rev. C.V.R. De Jong of Aurora, Colo., and Rev. Lloyd De Jong of Portage, Wis,; and three daughters, Mrs. D. G. Vanderberg of Dubuque, Ia., Mrs. Marvin Vanderwel of Orange City and Mrs. Orville Kuiken of Hutchinson, Minn. There are 14 grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren.

Obituary of John:
John G. De Jong

Death by coronary occlusion claimed the life of John G. De Jong in his sleep, Tuesday morning at 3:30 o'clock. Mr. De Jong was born at the Gt. De Jong homestead southwest of Orange City, on March 20, 1885. His mother was formerly Jannetje Van Peursem.

Mr. De Jong's marriage to Hattie Van Rooyen, daughter of C. Van Rooyen occurred on Feb. 23, 1907. Mr. and Mrs. De Jong retired from the farm in the Spring of 1939.

Mr. De Jong and family were charter members of the Trinity Ref. church where he served as deacon and later as elder for many years.

Surviving are the widow, 5 children and 13 grandchildren. The children are: Rev. C.V R. De Jong of Aurora, Colo.: Jean (Mrs B. G. Vander Berg) of Dubuque, Ia.; Margaret (Mrs. Marvin Vander Wei) of Orange City; Lloyd G. De Jong of Portage, Wis.; Harriet (Mrs. Orville Kuiken) of Sioux Center.

The brothers and sisters surviving are: P. G. De Jong, Mrs. Jno. Aalberts of Orange City, Mrs. Geo. Douwstra of Holland, Mich., Mrs. L.L. Jones of Woodlands, Calif.; Mrs. Herman Luymes, Geo. De Jong of Orange City.

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the De Jong home with the Rev. C. Van Wyk of Oskaloosa officiating. The Rev. Chas. Boonstra, pastor, officiated at the services in the church and the two sons: Rev. C.V.R. De Jong and Rev. Lloyd De Jong had charge of the committal service at the local cemetery. The pall bearers were the grandson Jno. C. De Jong of Aurora, Colo., the sons-in-law and the sons of the deceased.
