The son of Geurt and Hattie Ver Stegh Beyer, he was born May 18, 1913, in Lynn Grove Township, Jasper County. He received his education in the Taintor and Searsboro schools.
On Dec. 17, 1941, he was married to Fern Wiley. He farmed all his life in the Searsboro, Grinnell, and Montezuma areas.
Survivors include his wife, Fern, one daughter, Linda Stout; a grandson, Benjamin Stout; two sisters, Margaret Sparks and Helen Willimsen of Newton; and three brothers, Lester of Montezuma, Melvin of Oklahoma, and Earl of Grinnell.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Dale and Glen.
Funeral services for Mr. Beyer will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the James-Schalinske Funeral Home, with burial in the Pleasant Township Cemetery, Ewart.
The daughter of John O. and Agnes Larson Wiley, she was born Nov. 29, 1917 near Grinnell. On Dec 17, 1941, she was married to Richard Beyer. The couple farmed near Taintor, Searsboro and Grinnell before moving to a farm near Ewart in 1959. Following her husband's death in 1973, Mrs. Beyer moved to Montezuma.
She was a member of the Ewart Presbyterian Church, the Ewart United Presbyterian Women and the Country Side Club.
She is survived by one daughter, Linda Stout of Cedar Rapids; one grandson, three brothers, Lyle Wiley of Grinnell, Russell Wiley of Montezuma and Wayne Wiley of Grinnell; one sister, Lillian LeVake of Rochester, Minn.; one half-brother, Garland Wiley of New Sharon; and one half-sister, Doris Hotchkin of Grinnell.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ewart Presbyterian Church or the Christian Opportunity Center in Pella.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne Sparks; son, Ron Sparks; 4 brothers, Richard, Dale, Glen, and Melvin Beyer; and a sister, Helen Beyer Willemsen.
She was a graduate and valedictorian of her class at Searsboro High School and then she graduated from Business College in Oskaloosa. She was a teller and worked in the posting department at Jasper County Bank from 1945 until she retired in 1977. After retiring she still worked at the bank part-time.
She was a charter member of the ABWA and was awarded the Business Woman of the Year. She was a past member of the United Presbyterian Church.

Hank was born Sept. 21, 1922, in rural Sully to John and Dora Klein Willemsen. He had lived in Newton for over 50 years. He married Helen M. Beyer on Dec. 9, 1943, in Oskaloosa. He was owner and operator of Home Oil Co. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Jasper County Farm Bureau, and the Elks.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: John and Dona Willemsen of Elkhart and Jim and Anne Willemsen of Newton; five grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a sister and brother-in-law: Marjorie and Herb Van Wyk of Pella.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, in 2000.

Lester Orville Beyer, the son of Geurt and Hattie VerSteegh Beyer. He attended Searsboro School and farmed with his father and brothers. He enlisted with the US Army on November 28, 1942 serving as a rifleman in Central Europe. Following his honorable discharge in 1946 he continued to farm.
He was married to Mary Adeline Schultz on January 5, 1950. Lester was a lifelong farmer and farmed near the Forest Home area south of Montezuma. Following Mary's death he married Mary Carter on March 5, 1979.
Lester enjoyed socializing. He enjoyed a good conversation and especially loved to visit with family and friends. He enjoyed dancing, watching parades & above all attending family reunions to see all of his nieces and nephews.
Lester was a member of the Davis-Story American Legion Post #733 in Malcom.
Earl Beyer was born August 22, 1925, on a farm near Taintor, Iowa to Geurt and Hattie (VerSteegh) Beyer. He was the youngest of 8 children. He attended school in Searsboro, Iowa until he completed 10th grade. He then worked on the family farm near Searsboro until he was drafted in 1943. He served in the 31st Infantry Dixie Division in the United States Army during WWII from 1943-1946. During the war they occupied the Philippines on the island of Leyte.
Earl was united in marriage to Geraldine Louise Adkins on August 22, 1947 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. They were blessed with four children: Cheryl, Gary, Sandy and Lorri. Together they farmed in the Grinnell area for all of their 71 years of marriage. Earl was an outdoorsman who held a passion for farming the land. He was a hard worker but never passed on a chance to spend time or make a memory with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, and attending sporting events. He will be remembered for his strong and noble character, for being a man of few words, for always being there to help neighbors and family, and for the strong love of his family.
Earl is survived by his daughters, Cheryl (Michael) Bristle of Bixby, Oklahoma, Sandy (Russ) Motta of Grinnell Iowa, Lorri (Eric) Gettes of Clinton, Iowa; son, Gary (Karen) Beyer of Nashua, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Geraldine Beyer on October 12, 2018; his brothers, Richard, Glen, Dale, Lester, and Melvin Beyer; and his sisters, Helen Willemsen and Margaret Sparks.
Geraldine Louise Adkins was born the daughter of Grandville Leroy Adkins and Clara Viola (Stewart) Adkins on August 10, 1929 in Grinnell, Iowa. She was raised in the Grinnell-Newburg area and on the family farm near Searsboro, Iowa. Jerry graduated from Searsboro High School in 1947.
Jerry was united in marriage to Earl Max Beyer on August 22, 1947 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. They were blessed with four children: Cheryl, Gary, Sandy and Lorri. Together they farmed in the Grinnell area for all of their 71 years of marriage. Jerry loved life on the farm and held a special place in her heart for the animals. She was a loving wife and mother who devoted much of her life to making sure her family was well-taken care of. She was a talented artist who enjoyed painting and cake decorating. Jerry taught her children and grandchildren the value of hard work and taking time to enjoy the simple things in life. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, for being a good listener, and for the love of her family.
