Survivors include five sons, Henry, Green Rock, Ill., Dean, Cleveland, Ill., Andrew, Baltimore, Md., Arthur J., Cleveland, Ill., Clyde, Oskaloosa; a daughter, Mrs. Darrell (Gertrude) Kershaw, Colona, Ill.; three stepchildren: Wilbur Mooney, Colona, Ill., Herman Mooney, Oskaloosa and Mrs. Marie Pate, Ottumwa; also many grandchildren and great grandchildren; three brothers: Theodore VanKlaveren, California, Richard, Texas and Henry, Oskaloosa; two sisters: Mrs. Nellie Tennant, California, Mrs. Dena Werner, Washington; his parents, two brothers and a daughter preceded him in death.
The Eddyville funeral chapel was in charge of the arrangements. Services were held from the chapel Monday, Sept. 23 at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. James Smith, pastor of the Eddyville United Methodist church officiating. Burial was made in the Highland cemetery.

OBIT:
Mrs. Art VanKleveren, aged 41 years, died at her home Monday afternoon after several weeks' illness due to cancer of the liver. She was united in marriage in 1910 to Art VanKlaveren and to this union seven children were born; Mrs. Kenneth Larson of Oskaloosa, Henry, Dean, Andy, Gertrude, Arthur and Clyde. There are also three children by a former marriage; Mrs. Marie Jordan, Herman Mooney of Eddyville and Wilbur Mooney at home.
Besides her ten children and husband she is survived by eight sisters; Mrs. Cline of Lynnville, Mrs. Mary Stanton and Mrs. Anna Simmers and five brothers, George, John, Clarence, Roy and Robert Blackwood.
Funeral services will be held from her late home Thursday afternoon with interment in Highland cemetery.

Gertrude was born November 16, 1924 in Eddyville, IA the daughter of Arthur and Nita Blackwood VanKlaveren. She married Rudolph "Rudy" Kauzlarich October 20, 1973 in Nashua, IA. He passed away August 8, 2021. Gertrude was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning, and playing bingo. Survivors include her children Arnold "Butch" (Elzita) Kershaw, Sharon (Rod) Earl, and Joe (Linda) Kauzlarich; 12 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents, husband Rudy, and 6 siblings.
Rudolph Valentino Kauzlarich, 93, of Colona passed away August 8, 2021 at River Crossing of Moline. Funeral services will be 12 noon Saturday at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis with visitation 1 hour prior to service time. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Rudy was born September 21, 1927 in Chariton, IA the son of Tony and Ramona (Buyon) Kauzlarich. He married Gertrude VanKlaveren October 20, 1973 in Nashua, IA. Rudy served in the US Army during WWII. He was a proud veteran and was a member of the American Legion in Milan. He was a lineman for many years working for many high line companies. He also worked for Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric and Mid-American Energy. Rudy was a member of the IBEW 55 and IBEW 109. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially the grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, and cutting grass.
Survivors include his wife Gertrude; son Joe (Linda) Kauzlarich of Colona; step children Arnold (Elzeda) Kershaw of Colona and Sharon (Rod) Earl of East Moline; 20 grandchildren; 1 bonus granddaughter Jessica; 28 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sister Gloria Crall of Albia, IA and many nieces and nephews.
Rudy was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter, son Jerald, 5 brothers; 6 sisters; 2 half-brothers and 1 half-sister.
The family would like to thank the nurse and caregivers at New Perspective Senior Living for all the care given to Rudy and the family.
Art VanKlaveren Jr., 72, Cleveland, Ill., died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999, at his home.
Services are 1 p.m. Monday at Family Funeral Services, Colona.
Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, with military rites conducted
by Colona American Legion Post 1233.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

He was born April 4, 1926, in Edyville, Iowa, the son of Arthur and Nita Blackwood VanKlaveren. He married Alice Mae King Sept. 20, 1947, in Silvis. He was a welder for John Deere Harvester, East Moline, retiring in 1977 after 33 years. He was a WWII Navy veteran, having served in the Pacific. He was a former Cleveland alderman; a member of UAW Local 865 in East Moline; American Legion Post 1233, Colona; UAW Bowling League, where he was a member and longtime secretary; and a longtime member of the Post Firing Squad and was past secretary. He enjoyed NASCAR and was a big Jeff Gordon fan. He was well-known for his trapping and fishing, and he enjoyed his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Alice; daughters and sons-in-law, Gloria and Terry Gates, Silvis, and Arlene and David Hawkinson, Galesburg; sons and daughters-in-law, Butch and Lori VanKlaveren, Colona, and Mike and Terri VanKlaveren, Geneseo; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Gertie Kauzlarich, Albia, Iowa; and a brother, Clyde VanKlaveren, Oskaloosa, Iowa.
He was preceded by his parents; two sisters; five brothers; and a grandchild.
Funeral services for Alice Mae Van Klaveren, 76, of Cleveland, Ill., are 11 a.m.
Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline.
Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.

Alice died Sunday, July 2, 2006, at her home.

Alice King was born March 19, 1930, in Centerville, Iowa, daughter of James D. and Pansy Stroud King. She married Arthur Van Klaveren Sept. 20, 1947, in Silvis. He died Feb. 26, 1999. Alice loved her family and especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed shopping and will be long remembered for her great sense of humor and her laughter.
Survivors include her children and spouses, Gloria and Terry Gates, Silvis, Arlene Hawkinson, Davenport, Arthur "Butch" and Lori Van Klaveren, Colona, Michael and Terri Van Klaveren, North Carolina; seven grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bill King, Hampton.
In addition to her husband, Alice was preceded in death by her mom and dad; brothers, Wendell, Willard and James; grandson, Chad Van Klaveren; and a great-great-grandson, Julian King.

Dorothy Joan Van Klaveren, 87, of Oskaloosa died Thursday, February 16, 2017, at Northern Mahaska Specialty Care in Oskaloosa.
She was born April 17, 1929, in Marshalltown, the daughter of William and Jennie Cooley. She graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1947.
On December 29, 1948, Dorothy was married to Clyde Eugene Van Klaveren of Oskaloosa. Dorothy worked as the office manager of Alsop's Department Stores for 30 years, until her retirement. Dorothy was a member of the Good News Chapel and Mahaska Hospice Auxiliary. Her hobbies included reading books, playing the guitar; she loved angels and fishing with her grandsons. Dorothy also enjoyed her flower gardens, watching the clouds, and her grandson's races and sports.
Her family includes her husband of 68 years; Clyde Van Klaveren of Oskaloosa; a son, Paul (Maryagnes) Van Klaveren of Harbor Springs, MI: a daughter, Vickie (Marvin) Van Der Wal of Oskaloosa; four grandchildren: Amanda (Doug) Fredericks, Renee (Lucas) Momrik, Curtis (Jeanna) Van Der Wal, and Cory Van Der Wal; six greatgrandchildren: Barak and Easton Momrik, and Connor, Cole, Hayden, and Brecken Van Der Wal; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Shirley Hartwell and Maxine Halverson; and a brother, John (Bud) Cooley.
As was her wish, Dorothy's body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at Bates Funeral Chapel on March 5 at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Alvern Boetsma officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 5, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel. Burial of her cremated remains will be in the Forest Cemetery at a later date.
