Services Held For Anthony A. Van Roekel

Anthony A. Van Roekel, 83, of Sibley died Sunday night in the Montevideo hospital after a six month Illness.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the First Reformed church of Sibley with the Rev. Schmidt officiating. Burial was at Alton Cemetery under the direction of the Walton Funeral Home of Sibley.

Pallbearers were his nephews, Arlen, Harvard, and Jerry Van Roekel and Ronald Mulder of Montevideo, Minn., Dwight Johnson of Willmar, Minn., and Melvin Mored of Worthington, Minn.

Mr. Van Roekel was born March 6, 1886. He married Jeanette Vander Meer on February 27, 1908. They farmed in the Maurice and Orange City areas, but was a retired farmer for twenty years.

His survivors are his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Len (Nancy) Luchtenburg of Dundee, Minn., and Mrs. Joe (Leora) Mulder of Montevideo, Minn., two sons, Henry of Montevideo, Minn., and Art of Rock Valley, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two children.

Mrs. Gerrit Fedders Dies at Age of 29

Mrs. Gerrit Fedders, Jr. died Friday evening in an ambulance enroute to a Sioux City hospital where she was to be operated on for gallstones.

She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Van Roekel who live southwest of Orange City on the old Cambier farm.

Mr. and Mrs. Gerrit Fedders, Jr. made their home near Newkirk.

Funeral services were held in Orange City at the Colenbrander Church, on Tuesday afternoon.

Survivors include her husband, Gerrit Fedders, Jr., her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tony Van Roekel, four brothers, and sisters, Henry Van Roekel, California, Arthur at home, Leora, at home, and Nancy (Mrs. Leonard Luxemberg) of Ashton. Her brother Henry who is in the army in California, came home on Monday for the funeral and will have a two week furlough.
