Rites Held Here Saturday for Richard Hulstein
Funeral services were held at the First Reformed church here at 1:30 p.m. Saturday for Richard Hulstein, 73, retired farmer and life-long, resident of Sioux county, who died at the Sioux Center Community hospital Thursday morning, September 5, following a lingering illness.
Services were conducted by the Rev. Harry Brower and burial was made in the Sioux Center Community cemetery with Co-operative Funeral Home of Sioux Center in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hulstein was born in Sioux Center on December 24, 1889, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Hulstein.
He was married February 8, 1912, to Sarah DeVries at Milwaukee, Wis. The couple farmed in the Carmel area for many years prior to retiring and moving into Sioux Center in 1947.
Mrs. Hulstein passed away here on October 5, 1957.
Survivors include a son, William R. of Rock Valley; two daughters, Ethel (Mrs. Alfred Hoogland) and Sylvia, both of Hospers; seven grandchildren, four brothers, Cornelius, Johannes, Seine and Gerrit, all of Sioux Center; and two sisters, Johanna of Sioux Center and Mrs. Joe Horstman of Orange City.
Mr. Hulstein was preceded in death by his parents.
He was a member of the First Reformed church.

Funeral services were held at the First Reformed church on Wednesday afternoon for Mrs. Richard Hulstein who died suddenly late Saturday evening of a heart attack.
