Funeral services July 17 for Gerrit W. Hulstein
First Reformed church here at 10:30 a.m. July 17 for Gerrit W.Hulstein, 80, of Sioux Center, who died at Sioux Center Community Hospital July 15.
Services were conducted by the Rev. Jack Boerigter and burial was in Memory Gardens here under the direction of Vander Ploeg's Funeral Home.
Mr. Hulstein was born April 8, 1895, in Sioux Center and was a lifelong resident.
He married Helen Beernink December 24, 1935, at Maurice.
Survivors include the widow; three sons, Wilmer J. and Glen H. both of Sioux Center, and Rolland J. of Omaha; a brother, Hannes, of Sioux Center, and two sisters, Miss Johanna Hulstein and Mrs. Joe (Reka) Horstman, both of Sioux Center.

Joe Horstman
November 13, 1901 - December 20, 1996
Joe Horstman, 95, of Sioux Center died Friday, December 20, at the Sioux Center Community Health Center.
Services were at 1:30 p.m. Monday, December 23, at First Reformed Church in Sioux Center with the Rev. Mark De Witt officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Horstman was born November 13, 1901, In Deventer, The Netherlands, the son of Gerrit and Eva Dina (Denekamp) Horstman.
He married Reka Hulstein on February 17, 1926, in Sioux Center. The couple farmed near Sioux Center, Carmel and Orange City until his retirement in 1964.
The couple moved to Sioux Center, where he was employed with Hoogland Plumbing for a few years. His wife died in 1985.
He lived in the New Homestead in Sioux Center before moving to the Nursing Home in 1996.
He was a member of First Reformed Church in Sioux Center. He had served as a deacon at Carmel Reformed Church and as an elder at First Reformed Church in Orange City.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, Gerrit and Ruth and William and Gertrude, all of Sioux Center; one daughter and her husband, Evelyn Shirley and Leon Koele of Sheldon; a sister, Gertrude Jensen of McCook, Nebraska; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Gerrit E. Horstman of Sanborn: 13 grandchildren; and 27 greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers (John, Everett and Gerrit), two sisters (Grace and Anna), five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
