HENRY VAN MAANEN BURIED TUESDAY
Mr. Henry Van Maanen passed away on Friday morning at 10:15 June 12, 1953, at the age of 73 years, 10 months at his home in Hull. He began ailing shortly after the couple had celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on April 23 1953. On Wednesday P.M. June 10, he suffered a light stroke and failed rapidly after that. Without much suffering, he quietly passed away on Friday morning. His death followed an illness of diabetes and other complications.

Mr. Henry Van Maanen was born on Aug. 31, 1879 in the Netherlands. At the age of 14 years he came to America, with his parents. He was a Sioux County resident most of his life, with the exception of 10 years; which was spent in California. He has been a Hull resident since 1937.
On April 23; 1903, he was united in marriage to Lucy Brunsting at Hull, Iowa.
He is survived by his loving wife and ten children, namely, Marie (Mrs. Jno. J. Warntjes) of Hull, Hattie (Mrs. W. E. Lyons) of Bellflower, Calif.; Albert of Grant's Pass, Oregon; Grace (Mrs.H. A. Davis) of Bell, Calif.; Gertrude (Mrs. H. Vander Laan) of Grant's Pass Ore.; Margaret (Mrs. Joe Hampton) of Bell, Calif.; Gerrit of Bellflower, Calif.; Lucille (Mrs. Clifford Crandall); Jeanette (Mrs. Wm. Post) of Orange City: Henry Jr. of Hull; and 22 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Catherine (Mrs. August Jansma) on March 27, 1938, and an infant granddaughter, Donna Rae Post. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gerrit Van Maanen, Grace (Mrs. C. Hoff); Dena (Mrs. G. Kosters); Margaret (Mrs. J. Van Wyhe), and a brother Dick, also preceded him.
He is now survived by three brothers, Ed, Arie and Bert, and five sisters: Nettie (Mrs. Jno. Van Sloten); Hattie (Mrs. Bert Jacobsma); Lucy (Mrs. Herman Zwak); Bertha (Mrs. Jake Baartman); Annie (Mrs. Sam Kooima), and his aged step-mother Mrs. E. De Leeuw.
Funeral services were held on June 16, one o'clock from the house and at 1:30 from the Christian Reformed Church in Hull, in charge of his pastor, Rev. H. C. Van Deelen. Interment was in the Hope Cemetery at Hull. Six nephews acted as pallbearers, namely: Kenry D. Van Maanen, Gerrit A. Van Maanen., John E. Van Maanen, Art Van Wyhe, Bill Van Wyhe, Gerrit Van Sloten.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lucy Van Maanen, 72, were held Saturday at the Christian Reformed church, with Rev. H. Van Deelen officiating. Mrs. Van Maanen died Tuesday, September I8, at the Sioux Center hospital.
Mrs. Van Maanen was born August 18, 1884, in The Netherlands. She came to the United States at the age of 4. She was married to Henry Van Maanen in 1903. Her husband died in 1953.
Survivors include seven daughters, Mrs. J. J. Warntjes of Hull, Mrs. W. E. Lyons of Bellflower, Calif., Mrs. H. A. Davis of Lomita, Calif., Mrs. Henry Vande Laan of Grants Pass, Ore., Mrs. Joe Hampton of Bell, Calif., Mrs. Clifford Crandall of Downey, Calif,, and Mrs. William Post of Orange City: three sons, Albert of Grants Pass, Gary of Bellflower and Henry J. of Norwalk, Calif., and a brother, Ralph Brunsting of Hull.

William was the son of Sam and Dora (Kuiken) Post. He was raised at Orange City, IA. On March 18, 1949. He married Jeanette Van Maanen at Hull, IA. They made their home in Orange City, IA. Jeanette passed away June 16, 1968 at Orange City, IA.
On May 22, 1972, he married Vivian Dagel Bents at Sibley. They continued to live in Orange City. In July, "Bill" became a resident of the George Community Good Samaritan Center. Mr. Post operated an excavation service and also had a truck farm. For many years, he and his family served as caretakers of West Lawn Cemetery. He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church. The Post family was recently honored during the Alzheimer's Memory Walk for Sioux County.
Survivors include his wife; a son and his wife, Don and Ruth Post, of Orange City; two daughters, Mary Post of Orange City; and Sandy Cherry of Worthington, Minnesota; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; four step-sons, Doug Bents and his wife, Dottie, of Bonifay, Florida; Ron Bents and his wife, ViAnn, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Henry Bents of Orange City; and Andy Bents and his wife, Barb, of Peterson; a step-daughter, Ruben Bents, of Sheldon; fourteen step-grandchildren, and fourteen step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his first wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two infant children and an infant grandson.
Memorials are being directed to the First Christian Reformed Church building fund for their new fellowship hall.
