John Den Boer, 85, of Rock Valley, died May 29 at Hegg Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

Services were held May 31 at the Porter Funeral Home at Rock Valley. The Rev. Joel Beeke officiated and burial was in Valley View Cemetery.

John Den Boer was born December 8, 1894, in The Netherlands. He came to America with his parents at the age of seven.

He married Alice Van Beek on January 9, 1916. at Rock Valley. They farmed in the Rock Valley area. She died November 22, 1975.

Survivors include one son, John; two daughters. Mrs. Rena Vande Hoef and Mrs. William (Everdena) Koedam; also one brother, Luke, all of Rock Valley. Also 15 grandchildren; 29 greatgrandchildren and one greatgreat-grandchild.

Funeral services were held at the Porter Funeral home in Rock Valley at 1:30 P.M. November 25 for Mrs. John Den Boer, 80, of Doon, who died at the Rock Valley hospital November 22 after a long illness.

Services were conducted by the Rev. Wm. Suyker and burial was in Valley View cemetery at Rock Valley.

Mrs. Den Boer, the former Alice Van Beek, was born October 8, 1895, in Maurice. She was married to John Den Boer [sic] January 9, 1916, in Rock Valley.

Survivors include the widower; two sons, Peter and John, both of Rock Valley; two daughters, Mrs. Rena Vande Hoef of lnwood and Mrs. Wm. Everdena Koedam of Rock Valley; a brother, Peter of Sioux Center; and 15 grandchildren.

Rena Vande Hoef, 87, of Rock Valley died Sunday, October 24, at Valley Manor in Rock Valley.

Services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley with the Rev. G. M, de Leeuw officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery.

Mrs. Vande Hoef was born October 22, 1917, near Rock Valley, the daughter of John and Alice (Van Beek) Den Boer.

She married John Vande Hoef on February 22, 1940, in Rock Valley. They farmed near Inwood, and she also worked for Otis Radio and later Inwood Locker and Meat Market and did housecleaning for several people. He died September 19, 1970.

She moved to Rock Valley in 1975, where she worked at Valley manor for many years. She moved to Valley Manor on May 31, 2002.

Survivors include her children, Jacob (Sandra) Vande Hoef of Sioux Falls, John (Kathy) Vande Hoef of Rock Valley, Helen (Irvin) Loeffler of Sioux Falls, Kathy Vande Hoef of Sibley and Betty (John) De Bruin of Rock Valley; a sister, Everdena (Bill) Koedam of Rock Valley; sisters-inlaw, Jennie Den Boer and Gertrude Den Boer, both of Rock Valley; 16 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was also preceded in death by two infant sons; a son, Ronald Vande Hoef; a daughter-in-law, Betty Vande Hoef; two brothers, Peter and John Den Boer; and a great granddaughter.

Peter Den Boer, 58, of Rock Valley, died Sunday at a Rock Valley hospital.

Services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley. The Rev. William Suyker officiated. Burial was in the Valley View Cemetery in Rock Valley.

Mr. Den Boer was born April 22, 1919 at Rock Valley.

He married Jennie Meendering on Jan.9, 1941.

Survivors include four sons, John A of Sioux Falls, Willis of Brandon, SD., Darold of Rock Valley and Peter J of Ireton; two daughters, Mrs. Loren (Judy) Wiese of Valley Springs, SD and Mrs. Randy (Jean) Zomer of Inwood; a brother John of Rock Valley; two sisters, Mrs. John Vande Hoef of Rock Valley and Mrs. William Koedam of Rock Rapids; and eight grandchildren.

Jennie Den Boer, 95, of Rock Valley, died Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Hegg Memorial Hospital. Funeral Service will be 2 pm Wednesday at Netherlands Reformed Congregation, Rock Valley. Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday with the family present 6:30-8 pm at Porter Funeral Home, Rock Valley.

Jennie was born May 5, 1916 the daughter of William and Marie (Vande Vegte) Meendering. She married Peter Den Boer January 9, 1941 at Rock Valley. Together they farmed near Carmel, Iowa, Canton and Hudson, South Dakota and later near Rock Valley, Iowa. After Peter's death on May 29, 1977, Jennie moved to Rock Valley. She was a great cook and bread baker, enjoyed crocheting, quilting, gardening, and most of all, taking the grandchildren fishing.

Jennie is survived by sons, John (Eldine) Den Boer of Dell Rapids, SD, Willis (Kathryn) Den Boer of Sioux Falls, SD, Darold (Joanne) Den Boer of Corsica, SD, Peter (Arlyce) Den Boer of The Colony, TX; daughters, Judy Wiese of Sioux Falls, SD, Jean (Randy) Zomer of Inwood, IA; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters, Henrietta Uittenbogaard of George, IA, Maria Kruizenga of Baldwin, WI; sisters-in-law, Edna Van Abbema, Gert Den Boer, Dena Koedam all Rock Valley; brothers-in-law, Simon Post of Rock Valley, Ted Feekes of Hawarden, IA.

Jennie was preceded in death by husband Peter; son-in-law, Loren Wiese; brother, John Meendering; sisters, Gertrude Post, Nina Feekes, Ann De Boer, Wilma Meendering.

John Den Boer, 83, of Rock Valley died Sunday, April 18, at Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Memorial services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Netherlands Reformed Church in Rock Valley with the Rev. G.M. de Leeuw officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery.

Den Boer was born February 16, 1921, to John and Alice (Van Beek) Den Boer in Rock Valley.

He married Gertrude Koedam on October 3, 1945, in Rock Valley. They farmed west of Rock Valley until moving to Rock Valley in 1987.

He was a past deacon of Netherlands Reformed Church.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, James and his wife Mavis, Arlyn and his wife Nelva and Myron and his friend Laura Kooima; two sisters, Rena Vande Hoef and Everdena and her husband Bill Koedam; and a sister-in-law, Jennie Den Boer, all of Rock Valley; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter; and a brother, Peter Den Boer.

Gertrude Den Boer, 89, of Rock Valley, Iowa, died Wednesday, February 03, 2016 at Hegg Memorial Health Center in Rock Valley. Funeral service will be held Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. at Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley with Rev. E.C. Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery. Visitation, with the family present, will be Friday, February 5, 2016 at Porter Funeral Home from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Foster Grandparent Program.

Gertrude Den Boer, daughter of Jim and Marie (Van Ginkel) Koedam, was born March 18, 1926 at rural Doon. Gertrude was united in marriage with John J. Den Boer on October 3, 1945 in Luverne, Minnesota. Together they farmed west of Rock Valley working side by side until moving to Rock Valley in 1987. Gertrude worked for the Foster Grandparent Program for 10 years. She was a member of the Netherlands Reformed Congregation. Gertrude enjoyed doing needlework and treasured time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Gertrude is survived by her 3 sons, James Den Boer of Brandon, South Dakota; Art (Nelva) Den Boer and Mike (Laura) Den Boer, both of Rock Valley; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Bill (Everdena) Koedam of Rock Valley; James (Wilma) Koedam of Doon; and Ed (Nina) Koedam of Rock Valley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Marie; husband, John J.; and granddaughter.
