Following the death of his father and brother in 1929, he moved with his family to Orange City, la. Vic began his education at Litchville and later graduated from Orange City High School in 1936. He continued his education at Nettleton College from 1939 to 1940. He was a graduate of the College of Mortuary Science at St. Louis, Mo.
He served his country in the Unite d State s Army from 1942 to 1946 as a paratrooper during World War II.
On June 28, 1945 he was united in marriage to Lorraine Cammock at Orange City, IA and to this union four children were born.
He died at Marian Health Center, Sioux City, Ia . on March 19, 1991 at the age of 72 years, four months and five days.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine of Sanborn; his children and grandchildren: Gregory and Sharon Vogelaar, Scott, Michael, and Jill of Sanborn, Vicki and Terry Protextor, Jeffrey and Adam of Springfield, Mo., Deborah of Oakland, Calif and Heidi and Jim Postma Brandon and Nicholas of Sanborn; two nieces, one nephew, and a friend, Florence Mouw, who had made her home with the Vogelaar family since 1936.
Vic was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

The family lived in Hawarden, IA and later moved to Orange City, IA. She graduated from Orange City High School in 1942. Following graduation, Laurie worked at the Orange City telephone company as an operator, and worked her way to the position of chief operator.
On June 28, 1946, she was united in marriage to Victor Vogelaar. The couple moved to George, IA in 1948, and then to Sanborn, IA in 1962. Laurie spent many years working as Activity Director at Prairie View Nursing Home in Sanborn. She also served as a volunteer member of the Prairie View Auxiliary, and the First Presbyterian Church where she served two terms as Deacon. She was a charter member of the Sanborn Golf and Country Club. She also enjoyed bowling, spectator sports, and was a devoted Iowa Hawkeye fan.
She was preceded in death by her husband Victor and daughter Deborah.
Laurie's life is celebrated by her children and their families: Greg (Sharon) Vogelaar of Sanborn, Vicki (Terry) Protextor of Iowa City, and Heidi (Jim) Postma of Sanborn; her grandchildren: Scott (Teresa) Vogelaar and their children Tyler, T.J., and Tiffany Gengler; Jeff (Sheli) Protextor and their children, Anthony (Adrian) and daughter, Hope Riedel, and Elizabeth Riedel; Michael (Sara) Vogelaar and their children Reagan Vogelaar, Mia, Jessica, and Kelly Devitt; Jill (Jeremy) Niichel and their children Dawson, Braden and Noah; Brandon (Nichole) Postma and their children Dylan and Madison; Nicholas (Terese) Postma; Adam Protextor; two sisters, Dorothy Christiansen of Reno, NV and Colleen (John) Beal of Faribault, MN, and one brother Mike (Lavonne) Cammock.
