Obituary of Ronald:
Ronal Leon Ver Steegh, 80 of New Sharon passed away at home on the farm Thursday, July 27, 2023 in the care of family with assistance from Hospice of Pella. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, July 31, 2023 at the Friends Cemetery in New Sharon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ron's family to decide on a memorial at a later time. Please make checks payable to Karen Ver Steegh and may be sent to Holland-Coble Funeral Home; in care of Ron Ver Steegh; P.O. Box 85; New Sharon, Iowa 50207. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of New Sharon is in charge of arrangements.

Ron was born on August 28, 1942 in Chicago, IL. He was a true cowboy and worked with his father breaking horses for Ver Steegh H & T Quarter Horses. He was involved in local rodeos for years and was chairman of Mahaska County Pony Express for several years. Ron had a passion for antiques and flea marketing.

He and Karen started the Prospector Antique Mall in Cedar Rapids almost 30 years ago and ran it until retiring to the farm at New Sharon this past fall. He was a fixture of the What Cheer Flea Market all of these years.

Ron was a business consultant for over 30 years, co-ordinating fundraisers in Linn, Wapello and Marshall Counties as well as other counties and states in the early years. He was very proud to contribute to the efforts of the groups in their communities. These groups include the Marshalltown Fraternal Order of Police, Ottumwa Police Association, Linn Co. Underwater Search and Recovery, Linn Co. Firefighter's Association, Linn Co. Civil Air Patrol and Linn Co. Deputy Sheriff's Charitable Association. He was a friend and employer to many, many people over the years who needed just that comnbination in their lives.

Ron is survived by his wife, Karen; his brother, Les (Mary) Ver Steegh; three sons, Leon (Liz) McCrory, Joe (Ali) Ver Steegh and Robert Ver Steegh; two daughters, Rhonda (Matt) Abdulla and Sharon (Melissa Jacobus) Kenney; his grandchildren, Dennis Blasko, Sascha Blasko, Katherine (Tyler) Schroeder, Karrie (Charlie) Grimes, Kalina McCrory, Cole Ver Steegh, Samuel Ver Steegh, Anthony Ver Steegh, Maddie Ver Steegh, Hailey Ver Steegh, Garrett Ver Steegh, Jessie (Jimmy) Lacrue, Ashlie (Kyle) Price, Andrew Henderson, Brian Lemke, Randy Tucker and Aaron Lemke; his great grandchildren, Kolt, Gage Wyat, Autumn, Tucker, Katera, Lakota, Jaydon, Amya, Owen, Gavin and Remington along with many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Arlene Ver Steegh, a daughter, Sherry Lynn Tucker and two granddaughters, Mercedes Nicole Gunnerson and Kasandra McCrory.
