Obituary of Dorothy:
Dorothy Marchant, age 95 of Panora, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at Panora Specialty Care in Panora, Iowa. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care in Perry. Visitation will be on Thursday, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry. Memorials will be given to Lifehouse Assembly of God in Panora and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care.

Dorothy Maye Marchant was born on November 15, 1927, at Perry, Iowa to Laurence V. and Freda B. (Alborn) Mills. She attended country school between Linden and Panora and graduated from Panora Community High School.

She was united in marriage to LaVerne Knapp on October 20, 1944, and to this union three children were born: Connie, David, and Raymond. She later married Carroll L. Marchant on August 9, 1976. Dorothy cooked for the Yale Community School, and then worked as head cook for Springbrook Conservation Camp. While living in Arizona she also worked for a jewelry store.

She enjoyed camping, playing cards, playing bingo, and when her sons had a band, she loved going and enjoying them.

In death she rejoins her husband Carroll L. Marchant, parents, Laurence and mother, Freda, and her first husband, LaVerne. Left to cherish Dorothy's memory are her, children, Connie (Bob) Safley, Linden, Iowa, David (Peggy) Knapp, Florida, Raymond (Dawn) Knapp, North Carolina, 11 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 14 great great grandchildren.
