Obituary of Marian:
Marian Ruth Wilkening, 85, of Marshalltown died Saturday, May 16th, 2009, at home while under the care of Iowa River Hospice, and her loving family by her side. There will be no services. Private family burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be directed to Iowa River Hospice. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Marian was born March 18th, 1924 in rural Laurel to parents Richard and Nellie (Wisgerhof) McMahon. Marian attended Marshalltown High School, graduating in 1942. On August 25th, 1945, she was united in marriage to Vernon Wilkening in Missouri. The couple made their home in Marshalltown, where they raised their daughters Barbara and Carol.

Marian was a custodian for the Marshalltown Community School District, retiring in 1983. Marian adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and will be greatly missed by her family.

Left to celebrate Marian's life are her daughters Barbara (Scott) Slater, and Carol Wilkening; her grandchildren Callie Slater-Tangeman, Carrie Thole, Nicholas Slater, and Jill Miller; her great-grandchildren Eliza Tangeman, Jack and Justin Thole; her brother Dean McMahon as well as friends.

In death, Marian has rejoined her parents, her beloved husband Vernon (1999), and her brothers Cecil and Bud McMahon.

Gladbrook Richard L. "Bud" McMahon, 69, of Gladbrook, died at his home, on 8 September 2000.

No services are scheduled.

He was born on August 3, 1931, in Laurel, the son Richard and Nellie (Wisgerof) McMahon. He received his education in the area of his birth, graduating from Marshalltown High School. After this time, he enlisted in the United States Navy. He was employed for several years at Fisher Controls.

Survivors include a sister, Marian Wilkening of Marshalltown, and a brother, Dean of Peoria, Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Cecil.
