Barney and Loie Buyert

BUYERT, BARNEY AND CAROLINE LOIS "LOIE" (HULSTEIN)

Barney John Buyert was born April 5, 1929 to Nick and Hermina "Minnie" (Kempers) Buyert. He grew up on a farm northwest of Sioux Center, Iowa. Barney attended Welcome #4 Country School until the fourth grade, then he attended Sioux Center Christian School.

On February 8, 1950 he married Caroline Lois "Loie" Hulstein at the Protestant Reformed Church in Hull, Iowa. Loie was born to Raymond and Della (Gritters) Hulstein on November 17, 1929 at Sioux Center, Iowa. Her parents later moved to Edgerton, Minnesota.

Loie attended Welcome #4 Country School until the eighth grade, then she attended Sioux Center Christian School and Western Christian High School. This was followed by summer school at Westmar in Le Mars, Iowa. She then taught the country school north of Carmel.

Barney and Loie lived on an acreage 3 miles north and 1/2 mile west of Sioux Center when they were first married. After 3 years they moved just west to the farm place where they are still living now.

Barney and Loie had 5 children. Gene Allen was born March 21, 1951. Gene died on July 5, 1957.

Larry Dean was born April 19, 1954. He attended Southeast Area Vocational Technical School in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. On October 17, 1986 Larry married Kathi De Vos. Larry is Assistant Manager and Head of Sales at Den Hoed Greenhouse. His wile Kathi graduated trom Dordt College with an accounting major and is employed as a salesperson at Ver Hoef Chevrolet.

Jan Allen was born on April 26, 1958. He married Dona Cap on October 26, 1984. Jan farms with his father and Dona is a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant.

Pamela Joy was born March 16, 1962. Pam attended Nettleton College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota for the Accounting/Secretarial program. On June 17, 1983 she married Rob Kroese. Rob graduated from Dordt College with an accounting major and is presently a Certified Public Accountant and is an owner of Kroese and Kroese, P.C. Pam is now a homemaker with their 2 children Jason Lee born May 14, 1986 and Sarah Joy born October 25, 1989.

Dawn Ranae, the youngest, was born September 21, 1965. Dawn graduated from Nettleton College in the Legal Secretary program. On September 2, 1989 she married Matt Thompson. Matt graduated from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse with a major in Business Administration and a minor in Sociology. Matt is Production Manager at Sioux Preme Egg. Dawn works in the Credit Department of K-Products in Orange City, Iowa. Barney and Loie are members of Bethel Christian Reformed Church.

BUYERT, JAN AND DONA (CAP)

Jan Buyert was born on April 26, 1958 to Barney and Lois Buyert of Sioux Center, Ia. He grew up on the family farm, and besides helping his father with daily chores, he was also active in 4-H with cattle, swine and horses. Jan graduated from Western Christian High School in 1976, and currently farms with his father. In his spare time, Jan enjoys hunting and trapping.

On October 26, 1984 Jan married Dona Cap of Yankton, SD. Dona was born on June 24, 1965 in Yankton, and grew up on the farm, where she enjoyed working with the animals. In 1983, Dona graduated from Yankton Senior High School, and then moved to Sioux Center, where she had a job training Quarter Horses.

Jan and Donna now live on a farm North of Sioux Center, and both of them are very involved in their farming operation. They farrow to finish hogs, run some cows, and also ride their horses which they like to show in their spare time.

Jaren geleden heb ik een jaar in Sioux Center, Iowa gewoond. Zondag na de kerk werd ik vaak uitgenodigd door Barney en Loie Buyert. Deze namen vond ik in uw stamboom. Helaas is Barney overleden. Dat is zeker 10 jaar geleden. Dit jaar bleek mijn email voor Loie niet meer te werken. Vandaar dat ik op internet aan het zoeken was. Ik ben bang dat zij wellicht ook gestorven is. Ik vond het bijzonder te zien dat zij in een NL stamboom zitten.

Obituary of Caroline

Loie Buyert, 82, of Sioux Center, IA, died Friday, April 13, 2012 at Royale Meadows Care Center in Sioux Center.

A visitation will be held on Sunday at Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center from 2-8 PM, with the family present from 2-4 PM.

A funeral service will be held Monday at 10:00 AM at the Faith Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. Robert Drenten officiating. Interment will follow the service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.

In lieu of flowers or gifts the Buyert family prefers memorials to Sioux Center Home Health and Hospice.

Caroline Lois Buyert was born to Ray and Della Hulstein on November 17, 1929 in Sioux Center, Iowa. She attended the country grade school, graduated from Western Christian High School and received her teaching certificate from Westmar in Le Mars.

Loie was united in marriage to Barney Buyert on February 8, 1950. They made their home near Sioux Center where they farmed together. Barney and Loie attended the Hull Protestant and Bethel Christian Reformed Churches. They were blessed with 46 years of marriage before Barney passed away on April 4, 1996.

She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends. Loie loved baking goodies and the coffee pot was always on.

Left to cherish her memory are her four children, Larry and Kathi Buyert of Sioux Center and their sons: Brett and TJ, Jan and Dona Buyert of Sheridan, Wyoming and their children: Bryton and Cheyenne, Rob and Pam Kroese of Sioux Center and their children: Jason and his fiance, Jamie, Mark and Sarah Rowenhorst and Ryan, Matt and Dawn Thompson of Blackshear, Georgia and their son, Tony and Taylor and their daughter, Zaylie; twelve brothers and sisters, Berdie Broek, Gary and Von Hulstein, Ed and Arlene Hulstein, Marge Mesman, Ray Jr. and Teen Hulstein, Leonard and Jeanne Hulstein, Delmar and Faye Hulstein, Garneth and Harold Van Surksum, Leroy and Faye Hulstein, Sharon and Pete Struiksma, Iva and Jim Hoogeveen, and Karon and Lee Blom.

Loie was preceded in death by her husband, Barney and 6 year old son, Gene.
