Funeral services for Nick Van Beek, 81, of Kent City, Mich., father of Mrs. Dick Tilstra and brother of Meas Van Beek, both of Hawarden, who died Wednesday of last week, were held at 2 o'clock Monday at Inwood where he formerly resided. Rev. Martin Gritters officiated at the Christian Reformed church with burial in Valley View cemetery at Rock Valley.
Mr. Van Beek was born June 2, 1884 in The Netherlands and came to the United States as a boy. He lived in the Inwood and Rock Valley area until 1938 when he went to Kent City.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Fred Tilstra and Mrs. Sy Tolsma, both of Inwood, Mrs. Jasper Haveman of Grand Rapids Mich., and Mrs. Dick Tilslra of Hawarden; two sons, Peter of Randolph, Wis., and Gcrrit of Wyoming, Mich.; a sister, Mrs. John Den Boer of Doon, Iowa; two brothers, Meas Van Beek of Hawarden and Peter Van Beek of Sioux Center; 37 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Nick Van Beek whose home is nine miles northwest of Rock Valley passed away at a hospital in Grand Rapids, Mich., where she had been for treatment for the past year and a half, at about twelve o'clock Saturday night.
The remains were brought to Rock Valley for funeral services and burial, arriving here Tuesday, and the funeral services were held at the Christian reformed last Wednesday afternoon.
Mrs. Van Beek was born in Holland and had attained the age of 40 years, three months and twenty-eight days. Her early life was spent in her native land where she grew to womanhood. She came with her parents, Mr. and. Mrs S. Snook, to Rock Valley and lived in this vicinity most of the time since.
She was united in marriage to Nick van Beek in 1906. Eight children were born to this union all of whom are living at the home with their father.
Besides her husband and children, she leaves her parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. Snook, of Rock Valley, two brothers, Herman Snook of Sioux City, and Bud Snook, who lives in Minnesota, and three sisters, Mrs. Walter Groeneweg, of near Rock Valley, Mrs. Jake Frankin and Mrs. Dave Yepma, of Sioux City.
The bereaved family have the sympathy of a number of friends in their sorrow.

Fred Tilstra age 87, of Canton, SD formerly of Inwood, IA, died Thursday, December 29, 1994, at the Sioux Valley Hospital at Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral services were Monday, January 2, at the Christian Reformed Church at Inwood, IA with burial at the Richland Cemetery at Inwood. Rev. Dave Heilman Officiated.
Fred was born on April 2, 1907 near Rock Valley, IA. He was the son of Gerrit and Kate (Post) Tilstra. Fred Married Evadina Van Beek on February 8, 1935 at Inwood, IA. Together they farmed near Canton, SD until they began farming south of Inwood in 1943. Fred and Evadina retired and moved to Canton, SD in 1977. Fred was a long time board member of Canton's Community Oil Coop and a member of Inwood's Christian Reformed Church.
Surviving Relatives include his wife, Evadina of Canton, SD; one son and his wife, Glen and Donna Tilstra, of Inwood, IA; one daughter and her husband, Verna and Conrad Krahling of Oldham, SD; Two brothers, Bill Tilstra of Minneapolis, MN and Dick Tilstra, of Rock Valley, IA; one sister, Susie Kroontje of Edgerton, MN; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandsons.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Gerrit and Kate; three brothers, Pete, Walt and Harm Tilstra; four sisters, Retta Ver Beek, Martha De Vries, Ada Bakker and Clara Veenis; one infant grandson and two infant grand daughters.

HAWARDEN, Iowa - Crisena Tilstra, 83, of Rock Valley, Iowa, formerly of Hawarden, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, at Valley Manor Nursing Home in Rock Valley.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Hawarden Community Church, with the Rev. Conrad Krahling officiating. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon Wednesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden.
Crisena Tilstra was born May 2, 1918, in Volga, S.D., the daughter of Nick and Agnes (Snoek) Van Beek.
She married Dick Tilstra on Oct. 12, 1937, in Inwood, Iowa. They farmed near Doon, Iowa, for seven years and then near Fairview, S.D. They moved to Hawarden in 1959, where she worked at Otis Radio for many years. They moved to Valley Manor Nursing Home in July 1994. Dick died April 18, 1996.
She was a member of Hawarden Community Church.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, Richard and Carol of Hawarden, and Ronald and Sally of Sioux Falls, S.D.; eight daughters, Agnes Teach of Watertown, S.D., Geraldine Ragels of Le Mars, Iowa, Dianna Liston of Alcester, S.D., Constance Satter and her husband, William of Akron, Iowa, Loretta Hillrichs and her husband, Kenneth of Akron, Rosella Van Muyden and her husband, Leonard of Hawarden, Delores Voetberg and her husband, Harvard of Rock Valley, and Joan Degen and her husband, John of Hawarden; a sister, Evadina Tilstra of Rock Valley; 30 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, William; three sons-in-law, Orrie Teach, DeWayne Ragels and Lawrence Liston; two grandsons; a granddaughter; three brothers, Gerrit, Pete and Christopher; and three sisters, Marie Van Abbema, Kate Tolsma and Agnes Haveman.

Dick Tilstra, 82, of Hawarden died Thursday, April 18, at Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley. Services were at Community Reformed Church in Hawarden on Monday with the Rev. David Tellinghuisen officiating. Burial was at Grace Hill Cemetery.
Tilstra was born on January 18, 1914, in Inwood, the son of Gerrit and Kate (Post) Tilstra. He married Crisena Van Beek on October 12, 1937, in Inwood. The couple first farmed near Doon, for seven years, before farming near Fairview, South Dakota. In 1959, they moved to Hawarden, where he worked at various jobs. The couple moved to Valley Manor in Rock Valley in July 1994.
