Obituaries of Donald, Carolyn and their son Orville

Donald Dummett, 63, Sioux Center, died March 8 in Mesa, Ariz., where he had been vacationing. Services were 1:30 p.m. March 11 at the First Reformed Church in Sioux Center. The Rev. Jack Boerigter officiated. Burial was in Roseland Cemetery at Sanborn under direction of the Cooperative Funeral Home, Sioux Center.

Mr. Dummett was born April 30, 1910, at Sanborn. He married Carolyn Bosch Feb. 1, 1935, at Sanborn. They lived near Hull, Melvin and Sioux Center.

Survivors include the widow; a daughter, Mrs. Glen (Marilyn) DC Master of Omaha; two brothers. Emmet and Vern, both of Sanborn; two sisters, Mrs. Marjorie Pitts of Bellflower, Calif., and Mrs. Wilma Swanson of Dayton; and two grandchildren.

Carolyn Dummett Clemons was born on April 2, 1912 in Carmel, IA. She was the second of six children born to Peter and Pearl Bosch. Her siblings were John Bosch, Fanny Haagsma, Gerald Bosch, all deceased, and Art Bosch and Esther Kempers. Her family moved to Sanborn when she was six years old.

She met Donald Dummett when she was 14 and they were married eight years later, on February 1, 1935. They moved to Hull, IA for a few years after they married and this was where their children were born. Orville Kay was born on July 15,1938 and Marilyn Charlene was born on July 16, 1940.

Shortly after Marilyn's birth they bought their own farm and moved to Melvin, IA. On Au­gust 28, 1956, Orville died in a tragic boating accident when he was only 18 years old. In 1962 they sold the farm and moved to Sioux Center, IA (where Marilyn and her family lived) because Donald was suffering from rheumatoid arthritis. Donald died on March 5, 1974 at the age of 63 while wintering in Mesa, AZ. They shared 39 wonder­ful years of marriage together.

Carol moved to California in 1980 because Marilyn and her family now lived there. She married Floyd Clemons on November 25, 1984. They shared 18 years together before he died on April 9, 2002.

She was an active member of New Life Community Church. She raised money for missions and enjoyed sharing her faith with others and leading them to the Lord. She lived a life of service and lovingly cared for people in many ways. She loved doing crafts and playing table games with friends.

She died on July 22, 2010 at Artesia Christian Home's skilled nursing at the age of 98 years, three months and 22 days. Services were held at the New Life Community Church in Artesia, CA on July 27.

She is survived by her daughter,Marilyn (Glenn) of Fullerton, CA, granddaughter Patti (John) and children Brayden and Trent of Moreno Valley, CA, grandson, Mike (Kristi) and chil­dren Max, Kate and Lily, sister, Esther Kempers of Sioux Center, brother, Art(Naomi) Bosch, and nieces and nephews.

Orville Kay Dummett, son of Carolyn and Donald Emmett was born in Sioux Center, Iowa on July 15, 1938. He was baptized on, September 4, 1938 in the American Reformed Church of Hull, Iowa, and was taken by the Lord on August 28, 1956, at the age of 18 years, one month and 13 days.

He is survived by his parents, one sister Marilyn, his paternal grandmother Mrs. Ruby Dummett of Sanborn, Iowa, his maternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Peter Bosch of Sioux Center, Iowa, besides other relatives and many friends.

Interment in Roseland Cemetery, Sanborn, Iowa.
