Funeral services for Mr. John Van Sloten, 87 years of age, of Doon, who passed away Monday at the Sioux Center hospital will be held today (Thursday) at 1:30 from the First Reformed Church, in Hull with the Rev. Paul E. Trompen officiating. Interment will be at Hope Cemetery at Hull.

MRS. JOHN VAN SLOTEN
Funeral services were held at the First Reformed chutch at Rock Valley at 1-30 p.m. Monday, August 4, for Mrs. John Van Sloten. 85, of Rock Valley, who died at the Rock Valley hospital August 1. Services were conducted by the Rev. Ralph G. Ten Clay and burial was made in Hope cemetery at Hull.
The former Nettie Van Maanen was born November 17, 1884, in The Netherlands. She was married March 1, 1907, in Rock Valley. Her husband preceded her in death in 1965.
Survivors include four sons, Garret of Doon, John of George, Henry of Hawarden and William of Hull; three daughters, Mrs. Ted Boetsma of Doon, Mrs. Herman Olivier of Lakewood, Calif., and Mrs. Edward Klomp of Rock Valley; three half-sisters, Mrs. Bert Jacobsma, Mrs. Jake Bartman and Mrs. Sam T. H. Kooima, all of Rock Valley, 27 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held for John H. Van Sloten, 68, of George were held Monday at the Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock. Interment was in Valley View Cemetery at Rock Valley with Porter Funeral Home making the arrangements. He died Friday, June 25, in a Rochester, MN hospital.
He was born in Hull, March 4, 1914, and in 1939 he was married to Agnes DeBruin in Rock Valley.
He operated a dairy farm near Rock Valley for 18 years, before moving to George.
Survivors include the widow; a son Gregory, Raleigh; five daughters, Mrs. Roger Nelson, Raleigh; Mrs. Paul Marshall, Sioux City; Mrs. Don Buddem, Granville; Mrs. Peter Roozing, Littleton, CO, and Mrs. Jeffrey Flyhuis, Sioux Falls, SD; 14 grandchildren; three brothers, Gerrett Van Sloten, Hull; Henry Van Sloten, Hawarden; William Van Sloten, Sioux Center, and three sisters, Mrs. Ted Boersma, Doon; Mrs. Herman Oliver, Lakewood, CA, and Mrs. Edward Klomp, Rock Valley.

Little Rock, Iowa -- Agnes (Van Sloten) Heronemus age 93 formerly of Little Rock, Iowa died Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at the Sanford Senior Care Center in Sheldon, Iowa. Funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 24, 2012 at the Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock, Iowa, with Reverend David Vander Laan officiating. Burial will follow at the Valley View Cemetery in Rock Valley, Iowa.

HAWARDEN, IOWA - Annie J. Van Sloten, 93, of Hawarden, Iowa, died Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at the Happy Siesta Care Center in Remsen, Iowa. Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the Hawarden Christian Reformed Church in Hawarden, Iowa with Rev. Mark Klompien and Pastor Cory Van Sloten, a grandson, officiating. Burial will follow in Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the church. The Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden is assisting the family. Annie J. Van Sloten was born August 2, 1924 to Richard "Dick" and Hattie (Vander Ven) Huenink near Hawarden, Iowa. She married Henry Van Sloten, December 19, 1945 in Rock Valley, Iowa. To this union four children were born: Don, Rick, Henry Jr., and Deb. They farmed together east of Hawarden until retiring into town in 1975. She worked at Central Cafe first as a cook, and until Labor Day weekend, 2017, bringing water and menus, setting and clearing tables. She was a long-time member of the Hawarden Christian Reformed Church. She became a resident of Oakhill Assisted Living October 1, 2016, and transferred to Happy Siesta November 1, 2017.
She is survived by her sons, Don and Verla Van Sloten, Ireton, Iowa and Henry and Lori Van Sloten, Hawarden; daughter, Deb and Bill De Jong, Hawarden; and daughter-in-law, Wanda Van Sloten, Richmond, Texas; 12 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Hen and Glenn Prange, Holland, Nebraska; Pearl Wieskamp, Edna and Lloyd Prange, both of Firth, Nebraska; 2 sisters-in-law, Evelyn Huenink of Hawarden and Evelyn Huenink of Lincoln, Nebraska; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Henry, August 5, 2003; son, Rick, November 5, 2013; 6 brothers, Gerrit, Wilbur, Marvin, Henry, Rich, and Harold, and 1 sister, Dorothy Topp.
