Also surviving are her brothers-in-law; Raymond (Alice) Van Heuvelen, Benard (Margaret) Van Heuvelen; Henry (Alvina) Van Heuvelen, and her sisters-in-law; the late Nettie (Herman) Eggink; Bertha (Bob) Dolieslager; Jennie (Sid) Wagenaar; Anna (Richard) Den Hartog; and Harriet (Vern) Schemper.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert, brothers Bert and John Bakker, and three grandchildren.
Edith was a member of the Chandler Christian Reformed Church. She was active for many years in the church Ladies Aid and the School Circle of Southwest Minnesota Christian High School. She was able to celebrate her 90th birthday in May of 1994 with all of her children, her sisters and brothers and her many friends and relatives.
Alice (Van Meeteren) Van Heuvelen was born on August 9, 1917 in Hospers; Sioux County,
Iowa.
She was the daughter of: Peter and Rena (Woudstra) Van Meeteren.
She lived her youth and attended school in Ocheyedan; Osceola County, Iowa, Harris;
Osceola County and Sheldon; O'Brien County, Iowa before moving into Hospers, Iowa,
where she graduated from Hospers Christian School.
She was united in marriage to Raymond Van Heuvelen of Archer; O'Brien County, Iowa on Thursday; December 31, 1936. They started farming near Archer and then moved to Newkirk; Sioux County, Iowa and later near Sheldon, Iowa where they farmed until they retired and moved into Sheldon, Iowa. Ray passed away on December 6, 1999.
Alice was a hard worker. She enjoyed farming with her husband, gardening, growing flowers, cooking, baking and camping at the lakes at Orr's Camp Ground. She liked to wear a lot of jewelry. She was a friend to everyone. She loved her pets, little children, and her family very much. Alice was a caregiver to her husband and daughter-in-law. She visited her mother nearly every day in the Sheldon Nursing Home. Most of all, Alice loved the Lord. She was a very active member of the First Reformed Church in Sheldon, Iowa. She volunteered at the Village Treasure Chest for over 30 years. Alice (Van Meeteren) Van Heuvelen, age: 95, passed away on Thursday; August 30, 2012 at the Sanford Senior Care in Sheldon, Iowa.
Those left to mourn her passing are: Her daughter: Chery (Leo) Garcia of Deming; Luna County, New Mexico. Her grandson: Greg Marcinak and his daughters: Kaylyn and Ella. Her grandson: Lyle Van Heuvelen of Sheldon, Iowa and his special friend: Kelley Eisenbacher. Her one brother: Walter (Leora) Van Meeteren of Grand Rapids; Kent County, Michigan. Her sister-in-law: Mary Van Meeteren of Sheldon, Iowa.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband: Raymond. Her son and daughter-in-law: Lauren (Lela) Van Heuvelen. Her grandson: Larry Van Heuvelen. Her two brothers: Adrian (Grace) Van Meeteren and Charles Van Meeteren. Her sister: Jenny (Henry) Oldenkamp.

Herman Eggink, son of Johan and Berendina (Jansen) Eggink, was born July 17, 1904, in Barchem, Gelderland, Holland. He grew up in the family home called Boevink and attended Christian School near Vorden through the eighth grade. Herman worked on the home farm until the age of 20 when he immigrated to Amenca, arriving at Volga, SD, in February of 1925. While living at Volga, Herman worked for local farmers. In 1928, he moved to Iowa and found work with farmers in the Sanborn area.
On Dec. 18, 1930, Herman married Nettie Van Heuvelen at her parents home near Sanborn They lived on a farm south of Melvin and later moved to a farm northeast of Melvin. In 1942, Herman, Nettie, and their family moved to a farm in the Sibley area where they lived until the fall of 1987.
Herman was a member of the Melvin Reformed Church where he served as an Elder and Deacon and also taught Sunday School for about thirty years. He was a member of the national Holstein Association and Iowa Holstein Association serving as President for two years and in 1964 Herman was honored as the Iowa Distingurshed Dairyman. In 1969 he sold his registered Holsteins and retired from farming. Other positions held by Herman include being secretary for the Osceola County Co-Op Creamery for many years and also serving on the board of directors for the Allendorf Elevator and Osceola County Fair. Herman and Nettle lived on the farm until October of 1987 when they moved to Sibley. After moving to Sibley they became members of the First Reformed Church. Followmg Nettie's death in June of 1994, Herman continued to live in his own home in Sibley. Herman died at the Osceola Community Hospital, Sibley, on July 21, following a short Illness.
Surviving Herman are his four children and their spouses, Harold and Luella Eggink of Sibley; Charlie and Leona Eggink of Allendorf; Berdena and Curtis Ackerman of New Brighton, MN; and Henry and Irene Eggink of Littleton, CO. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren. along with three Sisters, Hanna, Heintje, and Jo, brother Braum, and sister-in-law, Jantje, all living in Holland. Preceding Herman in death were his parents, wife, two brothers, and three sisters.

Herman Eggink, 96 of Sibley died Saturday, July 21, 2001, at Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Reformed Church in Sibley. Burial will be in Baker Township Cemetery, near Melvin, Iowa. Visitation will be 2 to 8:30 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 8:30 p.m., at Walton, Roste and Vogel Funeral Home in Sibley.
On June 28, 1945, he was united in marriage to Bertha Van Heuvelen in Hospers, Iowa. After their marriage, the couple lived in Hospers, Primghar, Galva and Hartley, before moving to Sheldon in 1954. Bob was employed for many years as a carpenter before his retirement.
His wife preceded him in death on February 3, 1998, in Sheldon. Bob continued to make his home in Sheldon. In 2000, Bob moved to live with his daughter Betty. He passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2004, at the Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon, reaching the age of 85 years, 11 months and 10 days.
He was a member of the First Reformed Church in Sheldon, Sheldon Senior Citizens and dinner date. He enjoyed listening to books, playing his harmonica, fishing, playing with his cat, Kit and his dog, Angel and visiting with relatives and friends.

Obituary of Jennie Wagenaar
Jennie G. (Van Heuvelen) Wagenaar, the daughter of Case and Hattie (Vander Weerd) Van Heuvelen, was born in Volga, SD on January 18, 1916. The family moved to a farm near Sanborn when Jennie was 10 years old and later to a farm near Archer.
Jennie married Sid Wagenaar on February 20, 1941. The couple farmed and raised their four children on a farm near Archer. In 1957, they purchased the Archer Hardware store, which they owned and operated until retiring in 1989. In the years following retirement, they were able to travel the U.S. visiting their children and other relatives. They felt very blessed to have been married for nearly 66 years. In the early days of their marriage, Jennie was a busy mother, and helped Sid with the farming and the hardware store. She later enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers, as well as crocheting and knitting.
Left to cherish Jennie's memory are her husband Sid, her children: Myrna and her husband Russ King of Nisswa, MN, Robert and his wife Marie of Middletown, DE, Marlene of Waterloo, IA, and Howard and his wife Vicky of Alcester, SD; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister Anna and her husband Rich Den Hartog; a brother Henry and his wife Alvina Van Heuvelen; a sister-in-law Alice Van Heuvelen; and a brother-in-law Vernon Schemper, as well as many other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Margaret Van Heuvelen, age 75, of rural Hospers, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 1996, at the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull.
Margaret was born June 19, 1921, at Orange City, the daughter of Dick and Annie (Van Gelder) Andringa. She was raised at Orange City, where she attended the Christian School and graduated from the Northwestern Classical Academy. She also attended the Nettleton Business College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She was employed by the Ad-Visor in Orange City.
On March 28,1946, she married Benard H. Van Heuvelen at Orange City. They lived at Hospers, Hartley, and then Newkirk, where they have farmed for the past 43 years.
In January of 1990, Mrs. Van Heuvelen became a resident of the Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City, and in May of 1991, she transferred to Pleasant Acres.
She was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City, where she had sung in the church choir and taught Sunday School classes. She had also been a member of the Farm Bureau Chorus.
Survivors include her husband, "Ben"; two sons and their wives, Rick and Michelle, of Ocheyedan and Conley and Rhonda, of Alton; three daughters, Helen, and her husband, Elvern Bootsma, of Phoenix, Arizona; Deanne, and her husband, Al Van Roekel, of Sheldon; and Rosemary Van Leeuwen, of Hospers; seventeen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; wo brothers, Marion Andringa, of Orange City; and Peter Andringa, of Cherokee; and two sisters, Jeanette De Groot, of Orange City; and Renzella Netten, of Burnsville, Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Andringa.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 16, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City with Pastor Stephen De Boer officiating. Interment followed at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City, under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City. Memorials are being directed to the Orange City Christian School.

Ben Van Heuvelen, 85, of Hospers, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003, in an accident near Hospers. A funeral service was held on Monday, Nov. 3, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Timothy Ou winga officiated. Interment followed at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City under the direction of the Oolman Funeral Home.
Benard Herman was born Dec. 8, 1917, at Volga, S.D., the son of Cozin "Case" and Hattie (Vande Weerd) Van Heuvelen. His family moved to the Archer area when he was a child. During World War he served in the United States Army.
On March 28, 1946, he married Margaret Andringa at Orange City. They lived at Hospers. Hartley and Newkirk. Margaret died Nov, 12, 1996, at Hull.
For 50 years, Ben enjoyed farming the fertile soil near Newkirk. He loved sunshine and sunny days and liked going to Arizona in the winter. Mr. Van Heuvelen was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City for 50 years. In recent years, he enjoyed the evening worship at the Hospers Christian Reformed Church.
Survivors include his five children and their spouses, Rick and Michelle Van Heuvelen of Ocheyedan, Helen and Elvern Bootsma of Phoenix, Ariz., Conley and Rhonda Van Heuvelen of Alton, Deanne and Steve De Jong of Sheldon and Rosemary and Keith Rensink of Hospers; 16 grandchildren, five step grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Henry and Al vina Van Heuvelen of Gaza; three sisters and their husbands, Jennie and Sid Wagenaar of Archer, Anna and Rich Den Hartog of Primghar and Harriet and Vern Schemper of Sheldon; a sister-in- law, Alice Van Heuvelen of Sheldon; and a brother-in-law, Bob Dolieslager of Sheldon.

On September 15, 1944, she was united in marriage to Richard Den Hartog. After their marriage the couple farmed ten years near Primghar, Iowa. The couple were members of the American Reformed Church and she was the men’s choir director. While living near Primghar they owned and operated a wallpaper and paint store. In 1957, the couple moved to Michigan where for 25 years she was employed at Hope College retiring in 1984. The couple for many years went to Art Fairs where they sold their homemade crafts in the summers in Michigan and the winters in Florida. In 1990, the couple returned to Primghar and spent their winters in Mesa, Arizona. They moved to San Diego, California to be near their daughter living there from 2003 until 2006. They moved to Fieldcrest Assisted Living in Sheldon in 2006 and in October of 2009 they moved to the Prairie View Retirement Home in Sanborn. She passed away at Prairie View on Thursday, April 1, 2010 reaching the age of 87 years, 4 months and 28 days. She was a member of the American Reformed Church in Primghar.
Anna is survived by her husband, Richard of Sanborn, one son, Randall Den Hartog of McEwen, TN and one daughter, Rita Stevens of San Diego, CA; eight grandchildren, [redacted]two great-grandchildren, [redacted]; one brother, Henry , in-laws; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Henry John Van Heuvelen, the son of Cozyn and Hattie (Van De Weerd) Van Heuvelen was born September 27, 1919 in Volga, South Dakota. He received his education in a country school. He began to work on the farm which he truly loved to do. Henry served his country during World War II in the United States Army Air Force from May 7, 1942 until his discharge on September 29, 1945 reaching the rank of Corporal in the 235th Army Air Force Unit based in England.
On June 21, 1945, he was united in marriage to Alvina Wilts in Newkirk, Iowa. The couple began farming and moved to what was going to be their family farm near Gaza, Iowa in 1953. Henry farmed for a total of 54 years until retiring in 1999. The couple remained on the family farm until moving to Sheldon, Iowa in 2007. The couple enjoyed their retirement home in Sheldon. Henry passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at the Pearl Valley Care Center in Primghar reaching the age of 98 years, 1 month and 10 days. He was a member of the American Reformed Church in Primghar and was currently attending the First Reformed Church in Sheldon. While at the American Reformed Church he taught Sunday School. Music was an important part of his life, singing with Alvina and in many men’s quartets. Henry’s family was very important to him. He also loved to farm and travel in their retirement years.

Alvina J. Van Heuvelen, the daughter of Fred and Eva (Van Oort) Wilts was born October 27, 1922 in Matlock, Iowa. She received her education in area country schools. On June 21, 1945, she was united in marriage to Henry John Van Heuvelen in Newkirk, Iowa. The couple began farming near Archer, Iowa and moved to what would be their family farm near Gaza, Iowa in 1953. They farmed for a total of 54 years until retiring in 1999 and remained on the family farm until moving to Sheldon, Iowa in 2007. Henry and Alvina enjoyed their home in Sheldon, remodeling the house and filling the yard with beautiful flowers and trees. During their later years they enjoyed traveling together and spent several winters in Mesa, AZ. Henry preceded her in death on November 7, 2017.
Alvina moved to The Village at Legacy Pointe in Waukee, Iowa to be near two of her sons and there she passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 reaching the age of 96 years, 7 months and 9 days. She was a member of the American Reformed Church in Primghar. She had a love for dolls which sprouted her side business, Country House of Dolls. She enjoyed baking, gardening flowers, singing, especially singing duets with her husband, Henry at many services. Alvina’s family was very important to her.

Harriet Schemper, 78, of Sheldon died Thursday, July 1, 2004, at the Northwest Iowa Health Center-Senior Care in Sheldon. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon with the Revs. John Engbers and Kevin Muyskens officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery of Sheldon. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Monday with the family present from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon.
Harriet Schemper was born March 14, 1926, in Sanborn, Iowa, the youngest daughter of Case and Hattie (Vande Weerd) Van Heuvelen. The family moved to a farm by Archer, Iowa. She received her education at Archer and continued with her education at Newkirk High School. After high school, she received her nurse's training in Iowa City. She was later employed by the Lutheran Good Samaritan Hospital in Sheldon.
Harriet married Vern Schemper on March 14, 1947, at Newkirk Reformed Church. They made their home in Sheldon their entire married life. Harriet was an active member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon. She was a Clavinette counselor for many years, a member of several ladies' groups and a member of the Sheldon Christian School Auxiliary. She was active in the family business throughout her life. Harriet was a devoted mother to her children and grandchildren. Her love and trust in the Lord was evident in her daily life.
Survivors include her husband, Vern; daughter and son-in-law, Marcia and Robin Carlock of Dallas, Texas; three sons and daughters-in-law, Lee and Judy, Tom and Dianne and Jay and Alicia, all of Sheldon; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jenny and Sid Wagenaar of Archer, and Anna and Rich Den Hartog of Primghar, Iowa; a brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Alvina Van Heuvelen of Primghar; two sisters-in-law, Alice Van Heuvelen of Sheldon, and Wauneta Schemper of Long Island, Kan.; two brothers-in-law, Bob Dolieslager and C.J. Schemper, both of Sheldon, and many nieces and nephews.

Vern was united in marriage to Harriet Van Heuvelen on March 14, 1947 in the Newkirk Reformed Church in Newkirk, Iowa. The couple made their home in Sheldon, where he worked for his brother-in-law, Al Kats at Kats Implement in Sheldon. At the age of 23, he founded O'Brien County Implement in Sheldon. Vern passed away on Friday, November 28, 2008, at the Sanford Sheldon Medical Center in Sheldon, Iowa, reaching the age of 83 years, 9 months and 20 days.
He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon. He was involved in his church and in the community; he served on the Sheldon Christian School Board, the city council and also held the office of Mayor. He and his wife had enjoyed traveling and spending 15 winters in Mesa, Arizona. He loved working at the business and spending time with his grandchildren.
Vern leaves to cherish his memory his four children, Marcia and her husband, Robin Carlock of Dallas, Texas; Lee and his wife, Judy Schemper; Tom and his wife, Dianne Schemper and Jay and his wife, Alicia Schemper all of Sheldon, Iowa; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, three sisters-in-law, Wauneta Schemper of Long Island, Kansa, Alice Van Heuvelen of Sheldon, Iowa and Anna and her husband, Rich Den Hartog of Sheldon, Iowa; two brothers-in-law, Henry and his wife, Alvina Van Heuvelen of Sheldon, Iowa and Sid Wagenaar of Sheldon, Iowa; and a special friend, Arvilla Kamstra of Sheldon, Iowa; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Harriet; his parents, and three brothers and two sisters.
