Berny "Bob" Dolieslager, the son of Gerrit and Effie (DeBondt) Dolieslager, was born January 19, 1919, in Sioux Center, Iowa. He received his education in both the Sioux Center and Archer, Iowa areas. On June 28, 1945, he was united in marriage to Bertha Van Heuvelen in Hospers, Iowa. After their marriage, the couple lived in Hospers, Primghar, Galva and Hartley, before moving to Sheldon in 1954. Bob was employed for many years as a carpenter before his retirement. His wife preceded him in death on February 3, 1998, in Sheldon. Bob continued to make his home in Sheldon. In 2000, Bob moved to live with his daughter Betty.
He passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2004, at the Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon, reaching the age of 85 years, 11 months and 10 days. He was a member of the First Reformed Church in Sheldon, Sheldon Senior Citizens and dinner date. He enjoyed listening to books, playing his harmonica, fishing, playing with his cat, Kit and his dog, Angel and visiting with relatives and friends.

Sidney "Sid" Wagenaar, 95, of Sheldon, Iowa, formerly of Archer, passed away Friday, July 4, 2014, at Sanford Senior Care in Sheldon. Sidney Wagenaar was born Jan. 14, 1919, at Ferwerd, in the Friesland Province of the Netherlands. He was the son of Hendrik and Symke (Halma) Wagenaar. Sid came to the United States in 1923 with his family and moved to the Archer area, where he attended a country school.
He married Jennie Van Heuvelen of Archer on Feb. 20, 1941. The couple farmed and raised their four children on a farm near Archer. In 1957, they purchased the Archer Hardware Store, which they owned and operated until retiring in 1989. In the years following their retirement, they were able to travel the United States, visiting their children and other relatives. They felt blessed to be married for nearly 66 years.
Jennie passed away Dec. 14, 2006. He was a faithful member of Archer Reformed Church. Sid moved to Christian Retirement Home in Sheldon in spring 2007, where he enjoyed playing Snooker. Sid enjoyed fishing and playing the concertina, a small squeeze box accordion.
Survivors include his children, Robert (Marie) Wagenaar of Middletown, Del., Marlene Wagenaar of Waterloo, Iowa, and Howard (Vicki) Wagenaar of Alcester, S.D.; son-in-law, Russ King of Nisswa, Minn.; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Jake Wagenaar of Sheldon; and a sister-in-law, Mabel (Mike) Wagenaar of Sheldon.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie; his daughter, Myrna King; his parents; two brothers, Mike Wagenaar and Bill (Priscilla) Wagenaar; two sisters, Jenny Wagenaar and Agnes (Art) Vander Griend; and a sister-in-law, Johanna (Jake) Wagenaar.
Mrs. Margaret Van Heuvelen, age 75, of rural Hospers, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 1996, at the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull.
Margaret was born June 19, 1921, at Orange City, the daughter of Dick and Annie (Van Gelder) Andringa. She was raised at Orange City, where she attended the Christian School and graduated from the Northwestern Classical Academy. She also attended the Nettleton Business College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She was employed by the Ad-Visor in Orange City.
On March 28,1946, she married Benard H. Van Heuvelen at Orange City. They lived at Hospers, Hartley, and then Newkirk, where they have farmed for the past 43 years.
In January of 1990, Mrs. Van Heuvelen became a resident of the Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City, and in May of 1991, she transferred to Pleasant Acres.
She was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City, where she had sung in the church choir and taught Sunday School classes. She had also been a member of the Farm Bureau Chorus.
Survivors include her husband, "Ben"; two sons and their wives, Rick and Michelle, of Ocheyedan and Conley and Rhonda, of Alton; three daughters, Helen, and her husband, Elvern Bootsma, of Phoenix, Arizona; Deanne, and her husband, Al Van Roekel, of Sheldon; and Rosemary Van Leeuwen, of Hospers; seventeen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; wo brothers, Marion Andringa, of Orange City; and Peter Andringa, of Cherokee; and two sisters, Jeanette De Groot, of Orange City; and Renzella Netten, of Burnsville, Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Andringa.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 16, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City with Pastor Stephen De Boer officiating. Interment followed at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City, under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City. Memorials are being directed to the Orange City Christian School.

Ben Van Heuvelen, 85, of Hospers, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003, in an accident near Hospers. A funeral service was held on Monday, Nov. 3, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Timothy Ou winga officiated. Interment followed at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City under the direction of the Oolman Funeral Home.
Benard Herman was born Dec. 8, 1917, at Volga, S.D., the son of Cozin "Case" and Hattie (Vande Weerd) Van Heuvelen. His family moved to the Archer area when he was a child. During World War he served in the United States Army.
On March 28, 1946, he married Margaret Andringa at Orange City. They lived at Hospers. Hartley and Newkirk. Margaret died Nov, 12, 1996, at Hull.
For 50 years, Ben enjoyed farming the fertile soil near Newkirk. He loved sunshine and sunny days and liked going to Arizona in the winter. Mr. Van Heuvelen was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City for 50 years. In recent years, he enjoyed the evening worship at the Hospers Christian Reformed Church.
Survivors include his five children and their spouses, Rick and Michelle Van Heuvelen of Ocheyedan, Helen and Elvern Bootsma of Phoenix, Ariz., Conley and Rhonda Van Heuvelen of Alton, Deanne and Steve De Jong of Sheldon and Rosemary and Keith Rensink of Hospers; 16 grandchildren, five step grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Henry and Al vina Van Heuvelen of Gaza; three sisters and their husbands, Jennie and Sid Wagenaar of Archer, Anna and Rich Den Hartog of Primghar and Harriet and Vern Schemper of Sheldon; a sister-in- law, Alice Van Heuvelen of Sheldon; and a brother-in-law, Bob Dolieslager of Sheldon.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Al Van Roekel; a granddaughter, Laurie Bootsma; two brothers, Gilbert Van Heuvelen and his wife, Edith; and Raymond Van Heuvelen;and two sisters, Nettie and her husband, Herman Eggink; and Bertha Dolieslager. Memorials will be directed to the Orange City Christian School.

Henry John Van Heuvelen, the son of Cozyn and Hattie (Van De Weerd) Van Heuvelen was born September 27, 1919 in Volga, South Dakota. He received his education in a country school. He began to work on the farm which he truly loved to do. Henry served his country during World War II in the United States Army Air Force from May 7, 1942 until his discharge on September 29, 1945 reaching the rank of Corporal in the 235th Army Air Force Unit based in England.
On June 21, 1945, he was united in marriage to Alvina Wilts in Newkirk, Iowa. The couple began farming and moved to what was going to be their family farm near Gaza, Iowa in 1953. Henry farmed for a total of 54 years until retiring in 1999. The couple remained on the family farm until moving to Sheldon, Iowa in 2007. The couple enjoyed their retirement home in Sheldon. Henry passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at the Pearl Valley Care Center in Primghar reaching the age of 98 years, 1 month and 10 days. He was a member of the American Reformed Church in Primghar and was currently attending the First Reformed Church in Sheldon. While at the American Reformed Church he taught Sunday School. Music was an important part of his life, singing with Alvina and in many men’s quartets. Henry’s family was very important to him. He also loved to farm and travel in their retirement years.

Alvina J. Van Heuvelen, the daughter of Fred and Eva (Van Oort) Wilts was born October 27, 1922 in Matlock, Iowa. She received her education in area country schools. On June 21, 1945, she was united in marriage to Henry John Van Heuvelen in Newkirk, Iowa. The couple began farming near Archer, Iowa and moved to what would be their family farm near Gaza, Iowa in 1953. They farmed for a total of 54 years until retiring in 1999 and remained on the family farm until moving to Sheldon, Iowa in 2007. Henry and Alvina enjoyed their home in Sheldon, remodeling the house and filling the yard with beautiful flowers and trees. During their later years they enjoyed traveling together and spent several winters in Mesa, AZ. Henry preceded her in death on November 7, 2017.
Alvina moved to The Village at Legacy Pointe in Waukee, Iowa to be near two of her sons and there she passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 reaching the age of 96 years, 7 months and 9 days. She was a member of the American Reformed Church in Primghar. She had a love for dolls which sprouted her side business, Country House of Dolls. She enjoyed baking, gardening flowers, singing, especially singing duets with her husband, Henry at many services. Alvina’s family was very important to her.

Harriet Schemper, 78, of Sheldon died Thursday, July 1, 2004, at the Northwest Iowa Health Center-Senior Care in Sheldon. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon with the Revs. John Engbers and Kevin Muyskens officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery of Sheldon. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Monday with the family present from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon.
Harriet Schemper was born March 14, 1926, in Sanborn, Iowa, the youngest daughter of Case and Hattie (Vande Weerd) Van Heuvelen. The family moved to a farm by Archer, Iowa. She received her education at Archer and continued with her education at Newkirk High School. After high school, she received her nurse's training in Iowa City. She was later employed by the Lutheran Good Samaritan Hospital in Sheldon.
Harriet married Vern Schemper on March 14, 1947, at Newkirk Reformed Church. They made their home in Sheldon their entire married life. Harriet was an active member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon. She was a Clavinette counselor for many years, a member of several ladies' groups and a member of the Sheldon Christian School Auxiliary. She was active in the family business throughout her life. Harriet was a devoted mother to her children and grandchildren. Her love and trust in the Lord was evident in her daily life.
Survivors include her husband, Vern; daughter and son-in-law, Marcia and Robin Carlock of Dallas, Texas; three sons and daughters-in-law, Lee and Judy, Tom and Dianne and Jay and Alicia, all of Sheldon; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jenny and Sid Wagenaar of Archer, and Anna and Rich Den Hartog of Primghar, Iowa; a brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Alvina Van Heuvelen of Primghar; two sisters-in-law, Alice Van Heuvelen of Sheldon, and Wauneta Schemper of Long Island, Kan.; two brothers-in-law, Bob Dolieslager and C.J. Schemper, both of Sheldon, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Nettie Eggink and Bertha Dolieslager; and three brothers, Gilbert, Ray and Ben Van Heuvelen.
