Obituary of Geurt
Last Rites Held For G. Van Holland

Funeral services for G. Van Holland whose death was briefly mentioned in last week's Bee, were held at the Christian Reformed church Friday afternoon and the remains taken to Valley View Cemetery. The services were largely attended by sympathizing friends and were conducted by Rev. J. H. Geerlings, of New Holland, S.D., a former pastor here.

Mr. Van Holland was born at Bennekom, Netherlands, September 17, 1865, and passed away at his home in Rock Valley August 8, 1928, following an illness or several weeks, but was up and around his home until shortly before his death.

He came to this country thirty-five years ago, and for the past twenty years had lived in Rock Valley and vicinity. He lived on a farm for several years, moving into town eight years ago. He was a man who was highly respected by all who knew him and was a leader in the church affairs of the church to which he belonged.

He leaves his wife and four children. The children are John Van Holland, Mrs. John Meernink, Mrs. Bert De Weerdt, and Tom Van Holland, all living in this vicinity. He also leaves twelve grandchildren. The bereaved relatives have the sympathy of many friends.
