Dick Rozeboom, age 87, of Hull, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2013, at the Sioux
Center Community Hospital and Health Center.
Dick was born on June 1, 1925, near Alvord, the son of William and Jennie (Fluit)
Rozeboom.
He was raised in northwest Iowa, where he attended country schools.
During World War II, he served as a medic in the United States Army for two years,
stationed in Europe for one year.
On May 5, 1949, he married Esther Vander Werff at Hull. They farmed at George, Rock Rapids, and Sanborn. In 1966, they moved to a farm by Hull, and in 1986, they semi-retired into Hull. All Dick's married life, he was a farmer, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He also did custom farming and was a salesman for Archer Oil for many years. He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of almost 64 years, Esther; three daughters and their husbands, Darlene J. and Harold P. Sohl, of Hull; Linda and Rick Marcus, of Fallbrook, California; and Waneta and Marvin Van Tilburg, of Milford; a son and his wife, Rick and Shelly Rozeboom, of Hull; twelve grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Clazena (Marv) Rus, of Sioux Center; and Elizabeth (Neil) Boluyt, of Michigan; and four brothers, Leonard (Cathy) Rozeboom, of Inwood; Gerrit (Marie) Rozeboom, of Michigan; Henry (Ada) Rozeboom, of Doon; and Anthony (Susan) Rozeboom, of Michigan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Teunis, William, Cozyn, and Johnny (infant) Rozeboom; two sisters, Gert Schelling and Jennie (infant) Rozeboom; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law in both the Rozeboom and Vander Werff families.

Esther was born on February 27, 1928, near Hull, the daughter of Robert and Theodora (Rodenburg) Vander Werff. She attended rural schools in Sioux County and graduated from the Western Christian High School in Hull. She then attended Westmar College in Le Mars and became a rural schoolteacher.
On May 5, 1949, she married Dick Rozeboom at the First Christian Reformed Church in Hull. Along with being a homemaker, she was a nurse's aide at Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull for more than thirty years and a cook at the Hull Christian School for eight years. She brought great joy to the staff, residents and students with her gentle smile and special touch. Dick passed away on April 15, 2013, in Sioux Center, after more than 64 years of marriage. Mrs. Rozeboom was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church, where she had been a substitute teacher for the Friendship Bible classes.
Survivors include her three daughters and one son, Darlene Rozeboom Sohl Esquivel, of Santa Anna, El Salvador and Hull; Linda, and her husband, Richard Marcus, of Fallbrooke, California; Waneta and her husband, Marvin Van Tilburg, of Milford; and Richard Rozeboom, and his wife, Shelly, of Hull; twelve grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Duck Lockhorst, of Hull; a brother-in-law, James Boogerd, of Hull; and Dick's siblings, Nellie Rozeboom, of Inwood; Gert Rozeboom, of Rock Valley; Clazena Rus, of Sioux Center; Leonard Rozeboom, and his wife, Cathy, of Inwood; Gerrit Rozeboom, and his wife, Marie, of Michigan; Henry Rozeboom, of Doon; and Elizabeth, and her husband, Neil Boluyt and Anthony Rozeboom, and his wife, Susan, all of Michigan.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, five sisters, and many brothers and sisters-in-law in both the Vander Werff and Rozeboom families.
William "Bill" Rozeboom Jr., 77, of Rock Valley died Tuesday December 7, 2004 at Hegg
Memorial Hospital of Rock Valley.
Memorial Services were at 3 p.m. Friday at the Netherlands Reformed Church in Rock
Valley.
Rozeboom was born March 26, 1927, to William and Jennie (Fluit) Rozeboom Sr. in Alvord. He married Jeanette Van Den Top of August 28, 1948. He worked as a farm laborer and milkman in Inwood until he began farming and worked as a carpenter near Inwood. Later he farmed near Rock Valley until retiring to Rock Valley in 1987. He was a member of the Netherlands Reformed Congregation.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jay, (Joane) of Rock Valley; daughters Jennie (Robert) Boyer of Inwood, Carol (Leon) Reekers of Rock Valley, Wanda (Gary) Hoogendoorn of Larchwood and Tami (Scott) Kuehl of Hopkins, MN. 15 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; brothers, Dick (Esther) of Hull, Lane (Kathy) of Inwood, Gerrit (Marie) of Ada, MI. Henry (Ada) of Doon, and Anthony (Susan) of Ada MI. sisters, Clazina (Marvin) Rus of Sioux Center and Elizabeth (Neil) Boluyt of Ada; and sisters-in-law Nellie Rozeboom of Inwood and Gert Rozeboom of Alvord.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Teunis, Cozyn and infant John; sisters, Gert Schelling and infant Jennie; and sister-in-law, Judy Rozeboom; and brother-in-law Paul Schelling.

Jeanette Rozeboom, 85, died Friday, December 7, 2012 at Whispering Heights, in Rock
Valley.
Jeanette was born September 18, 1927 near Newkirk, Iowa, daughter of John Sr. and
Carrie (Van Middendorp) Van Den Top.
She married William Bill Rozeboom on August 28, 1948 at Rock Valley.
Together they farmed near Inwood and later near Rock Valley until retirement and moving
to Rock Valley in 1987.
Bill died December 7, 2004 and Jeanette moved to Whispering Heights August 30, 2006.
She always helped with the farming operation and enjoyed gardening and crotcheting,
her family and home were her number one enjoyment.
Surviving relatives include her daughters, Jennie (Robert) Boyer of Inwood, IA, Carol (Leon) Reekers of Rock Valley, Wanda Hoogendoorn of Lester, IA, Tami (Scott) Kuehl of Nisswa, MN; son Jay (Joane) Rozeboom of Rock Valley; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brothers, John (Mable) Van Den Top and Gilbert (Norma) Van Den Top of Rock Valley; sisters, Alice (Albert) Brands of Mesa, AZ, Jennie Miller of Cedar Rapids, IA.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; and son-in-law, Gary Hoogendoorn.

Nellie Agnes (Zomer) Rozeboom was born July 2, 1928, to Herman and Helena (Spaans)
Zomer, Sr. of Corsica, South Dakota.
She grew up on the farm near Corsica and attended school through the 8th grade.
After she moved to northwest Iowa, she met and was united in marriage with Cozyn
Rozeboom.
They were married November 22, 1949. They lived on a farm around Doon, IA, Steen MN, and Larchwood, IA. In 1978, they moved to Inwood, IA. On July 8, 2004, Cozyn passed away. On December 29, 2011, Nellie moved to Fellowship Village of Inwood. Nellie worked hard all her life and enjoyed her work. She spent many hours helping milk cows, feeding chickens, gardening, cooking, canning, painting buildings, walking beans, and many other things. Nellie enjoyed fixing puzzles, crocheting, knitting, reading, sewing, and playing bingo. She especially liked going fishing with Cozyn. They spent many hours on the boat and had many "fish" stories to tell.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, Herman and Helena; husband, Cozyn; an infant son; son, Harvey Rozeboom; daughter, Connie Scholten; son-in-law, Gary Larson; daughter-in-law, Marcia Rozeboom; granddaughter, Jill Rozeboom; grandson, Jeffrey Winters; step-grandson, Grant Larson; great-great grandchild, Caroline; sisters, Hermina (Dick) Rozeboom; brothers, Cornie Zomer and Herman Zomer; in-laws, Teunis Rozeboom, Dick (Esther) Rozeboom, Bill (Jeanette) Rozeboom, Ada Rozeboom, Marv Rus, Judy Rozeboom, Paul Schelling, and Gert Schelling.
