Jeanetta G. Dykstra, age 89 of Prairie City, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at Prairie Vista Village in Altoona. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 18, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at the Prairie City Christian Reformed Church with burial following at Waveland Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Sunday, September 17, 2017, at Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. The family will greet friends from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the family and will go to some of Jeanetta's favorite charities.

Jeanetta Gertrude was born on September 18, 1927, to Gysbertus (Bert) and Carrie Stouwie Rozenboom by Leighton, Iowa. On February 26, 1947, she was united in marriage to Jerald Dykstra in Reasnor, Iowa. They started their marriage on a farm west of Pella. Four years later they moved to a farm west of Monroe, where they raised their family. She and her husband moved to Prairie City in the fall of 1995, where Jeanetta stayed until 2012 at which time she moved to The Shores of Pleasant Hill and lived there for three years. She was a resident of Ramsey Village in Des Moines for the next two years and for the past year she has been a resident at Prairie Vista Village in Altoona.

Jeanetta worked at various jobs during her life. She was a nurse's aide at Clearview Manor in Prairie City for a number of years and then worked at J.C. Penney's in Newton until she retired. She was a self-taught seamstress and in her spare time she would be at her sewing machine. She outfitted her family for years and sewed for many proms and weddings. Her other hobbies included crocheting, crafting and quilting. Jeanetta has been a member of the Prairie City Christian Reformed Church for 66 years. She taught Sunday School for several years and was a member of the JOY Society and later became a member of the Helping Hand Society. She was also a member of My Brother's Keeper - helping them make hundreds of quilts for the homeless and needy. Jeanetta loved her family and doted on her 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren who will all miss her.

She is survived by three daughters, Bonnie and her husband Ron, Connie and her husband Ed, and Shirley and her husband Rudy; and one son, Loren and his wife Carla. Her grandchildren are Chad, Cassandra, Dustin, Shannon, Carrie, Calli, Meagan, Alisha, Tyler and Alyson. Her great grandchildren include Hope, Faith, Grace, Grant, Carson, Elliott, Shelby, Chloe, Vivienne, Faye, Elise, Leah, Brayden, Adalynn and Greyson. She is also survived by her sister Anna Rae (Lloyd), sister-in-law, Alvada, and a brother-in-law, Glen. She was Aunt "Nett" to many nieces and nephews.

Jeanetta was preceded in death by her husband Jerald in 2004, her parents, four brothers, and two sisters.

PRAIRIE CITY -- Jerald Dykstra, 79, of Prairie City died Friday, April 2, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Christian Reformed Church in Prairie City with the Rev. Adrian Eising officiating. Burial will be at Waveland Cemetery. Visitation will be held today after 2 p.m. at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City. The family will be at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted in his name.

The son of Peter J. Dykstra and Zwanetta Visscher, he was born May 30, 1924, in Prairie City. On Feb. 26, 1947, he married Jeanetta Rozenboom in Reasnor. He started farming west of Pella and moved to a farm west of Monroe four years later, where he farmed until his family moved to Prairie City in the fall of 1995. He also worked at Maytag in Newton and at the Farmers Co-op Exchange in Otley and Monroe for more than 20 years. He loved to fish, hunt and trap, and for the past several years he enjoyed collecting toy tractors.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie and Ron Van Zante of Prairie City, Connie and Ed Slaughter of Waukee, and Shirley and Rudy Renaud of Council Bluffs; one son and daughter-in-law, Loren and his wife Carla Dykstra of Monroe; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Viola Vander Linden of Pella and Bernice Erickson of Mesa, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Obituary of Robert James
The journey of life for Robert James Rozenboom began on December 17, 1929, in Mahaska County near Leighton, Iowa. He was the son of Gysbertus and Carrie(Stouwie)Rozenboom. On November 29, 1950, he was united in marriage with Alvada Van Veldhuizen in Newton, Iowa. They were blessed with four sons: Stephen James, Larry Eugene, Randal Lee, Craig Alan, and two daughters: Jacqueline Sue, and Denise Ilene.

Robert worked at the Maytag Company in Newton, Iowa, Vermeer Manufacturing Company in Pella, Iowa, for Jasper County, and Ford Tractor in Newton. But his love for the farm had never left him so he began his farming career. They farmed around the Pella and Sully, Iowa area until 1966 when they moved to the Bussey, Iowa area. He continued to farm and later found his love for the trucking business and began hauling livestock and grain.

Robert's journey on this earth was complete and a better journey began on Thursday, February 2, 2012, when he passed away at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House in Pella at the age of 82 years. Memories will live on forever in the hearts and minds of his wife, Alvada; his four sons and daughters-in-law, two daughters and sons-in-law, 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first grandson, Matthew James Rozenboom, in infancy; his parents, Bert and Carrie Rozenboom; one sister, Beverly, in infancy; his three brothers: Jerry Rozenboom and his wife, Ruby, Donald Rozenboom and Virgil Rozenboom; his sister, Geraldine and her husband, Donald Samson; his brother-in-law, Jerald Dykstra; two sisters-in-law: Mary Lou Rozenboom and Beverly Rozenboom; his parents-in-law: Evert Van Veldhuizen and Bertha(Klyn)Van Veldhuizen; and two brothers-in-law: Wes Westra and Keith Nibbeling.

Robert made profession of his faith at the Newton Christian Reformed Church in Pella. For the past 46 years he was a faithful member of the Tracy Christian Reformed Church in Tracy. Robert lived for the Lord and blessed his family with love, laughter, and joy in his journey on this earth.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 6, 2012 at 10 am at Tracy Christian Reformed Church, Tracy, Iowa. Interment will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery at Pella, Iowa. Visitation will begin Sunday morning at Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella where the family will be present Sunday from 3-6 pm. The family requests that memroials in his memory be designated for the Hospice of Pella Comfort House in Pella or the Tracy Christian Reformed Church in Tracy, IA.

Obituary of Alvada
The life of Alvada Rozenboom began on June 21, 1933, in Mahaska County South of Oskaloosa, Iowa. She was the third daughter of Evert and Bertha (Klyn) Van Veldhuizen. She attended Pella Christian School; she worked at Lee’s Variety and then the Overall Factory in Pella, Iowa. On November 29, 1950, she was united in marriage with Robert James Rozenboom in Newton, Iowa. They were blessed with four sons: Stephen James, Larry Eugene, Randal Lee, Craig Alan and two daughters: Jacqueline Sue and Denise Ilene. Alvada made profession of her faith at the Second Christian Reformed Church in Pella. Robert and Alvada were charter members of the Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Pella. For the past 52 years she was a faithful member of the Tracy Christian Reformed Church in Tracy, Iowa. Alvada lived for the Lord and blessed her family with love.

Alvada’s biggest joy was caring for her family. She loved her vegetable and flower gardens, sewing, baking and cooking for all her loved ones especially her famous "chocolate chip cookies" for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her younger years she would take her "Meals on Wheels" individually prepared to everyone’s liking to the field during crop seasons. Alvada’s journey on this earth was complete and her eternal life began on June 16, 2018, with her family by her side at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House at the age of 84 years. Memories will live on in the hearts of her four sons and daughters-in-law, two daughters and sons-in-law, 15 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Gerrit Donald Samson the son of Gerrit and Ethel (Scarbrough) Samson was born February 16, 1935 In Kellogg, Iowa. He was baptized in the Community Church in Sully. He attend rural Prairie City School's . After school he began farming in the Prairie City area.

On April 1, 1954 Donald was united in marriage to Geraldine Rozenboom at the Christian Reformed Church in Newton. After their marriage Donald began farming with his brother Robert in Knoxville. Later Donald and Geraldine moved to Colfax to raise their family and farm. In 1988 they moved to Newton.

Following Geraldine's death, Donald was married to Sharon Collins Hobbs on July 4, 1995 on a family farm in rural Newton. More recently, Donald has been driving bus and doing grounds keeping for the Newton Community School District. Donald was a charter member of the former Community Reformed Church where he was active. Donald enjoyed working on the farm, and driving bus. He loved spending time with his family, reading his Bible, working on his tractors and cars, gardening, and playing his harmonica and banjo. Donald went to live with his lord on March 11, 2011 at the age of 76.

Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Sharon Samson of rural Newton; 2 daughters, Vickie (Jeff) Farver of Newton and Beverly (Rick) Modlin of Shakopee, MN; his 2 sons, Rick (Tootie) Samson of Baxter and Brian (Sherry) Samson of Baxter; 3 step-sons, David (Staci) Hobbs, Donny (Melissa) Hobbs, and Danny Hobbs, all of Newton; his 19 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; his brother, Bob Samson of rural Newton; aunt, Mardelle Minear of Des Moines; and his many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Geraldine.

Donald Dean Rozenboom was born on November 30, 1936, near Sully, Iowa. He was born to Gybertus and Carrie Stouwie Rozenboom. Don graduated from the Sully Christian Grade School in Sully and attended Pella Christian High School in Pella, Iowa. He enlisted in the Armed Forces of the United States in December of 1959 and served in the U.S. Army until September of 1960.

Don was married to Mary Lou Van Wyngarden and to this union two daughters were born: Barb and Jan. Don was employed in Prairie City, Iowa for several years. He then became a charter bus driver.

On June 29, 1984, he was united in marriage with Darlene (Fuller) Van Rees. "Boomer's" last gainful employment was with the Pella Community Schools in Pella. "Boomer" worked as a custodian at Pella Community High School and Webster Grade School and retired as a school bus driver in 1999. His retirement was spent enjoying camping and fishing. On Wednesday morning, December 24, 2008, he passed away unexpectedly on arrival at the Pella Regional Health Center in Pella, 24 days following his 72nd birthday.

Surviving are his wife, Darlene; his two daughters: Barb Rozenboom of Altoona, Iowa and Jan (Dean) Van Ryswyk of Monroe, Iowa; and five step-children: Rita Moneysmith of Pella, Mark Van Rees of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Judy (Michael) Clark of Pella, Carol (Louie) Floden of Pella and Christina (Leon) Groenenboom of Port Orange, Florida. Don leaves two grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, eleven step-great-grandchildren and one step-great-great-grandchild. Of his original family he leaves the following sisters and brother and their spouses: Jeanetta (Gerald) Dykstra of Prairie City, Iowa, Robert and Alvada Rozenboom of Bussey, Iowa, Anna Rae and Lloyd Van Hemert of Oskaloosa, Iowa, and a brother-in-law, Donald (Geraldine) Samson of Newton, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Carrie Rozenboom; an infant sister, Beverly Jean Rozenboom, his sister, Geraldine Samson, two brothers, Jerry Rozenboom and his wife, Ruby, and Virgil Rozenboom, and a brother-in-law, Gerald Dykstra.

Don was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pella, Iowa.

Obituary of Anna Rae
Anna Rae Van Hemert, 79, of Oskaloosa, died Monday, October 17, 2022, at the MHP Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. She was born September 12, 1943, in Monroe, Iowa, the daughter of Gysbertus "Bert" and Carrie Stouwie Rozenboom. She attended Monroe Schools.

On December 18, 1964, she was united in marriage to Lloyd Eugene Van Hemert in Pella. Following their marriage, she worked various places including the Dime Store in Michigan, the (old) Continental Overall factory, they owned and operated Maid-Rite in Pella; and a hotel in Oskaloosa. In addition to her work, she was busy caring for her children, Bobby, Stanley, Douglas, and Renae, and her home while Lloyd was driving semi over the road. Anna's favorite title of all was GRANDMA and GREAT GRANDMA. She delighted in her years of caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren and making many memories in her home. She enjoyed watching NASCAR, game shows, displaying her collection of "unique" yard ornaments, card club, flowers, and people watching. Most of all she looked forward to spending time with her family.

Anna is survived by her husband of over 57 years Lloyd Van Hemert of Oskaloosa; her children, Stanley (Brenda) Van Hemert of Oskaloosa, Douglas Van Hemert of Fairfield, and Renae (Digger) Gillam of Oskaloosa; fourteen grandchildren, Nikki (Phil) Shilling, Katie Rozenboom (Jaysen), Zachary Rozenboom, Gina Van Hemert, Luke Van Hemert, Nate Gatz, Jon Gatz, Krissy Gatz, Elizabeth (Alan) Lord, Scotimay Van Hemert, Cheyenne Van Hemert, Christopher Van Hemert, Cierra Gillam, and Dakota Gillam; fourteen great grandchildren, Samara, Cason, Braylee, Naveah, Layla, Alicia, Taylin, Alice, Evelyn, Carly, Emma, Vash, Ryane, and Harper; a sister in law, Darlene Rozenboom; and many nieces and nephews.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents; a son and his wife, Robert "Bobby" and Sheila Rozenboom; a grandson, Ryan Van Hemert; her father and mother in law, Marion and Johanna Van Hemert; two sisters, Jeanetta (Jerald) Dykstra and Geraldine (Don) Samson; four brothers, Robert (Alvada) Rozenboom, Jerry (Ruby) Rozenboom, Donald Rozenboom, and Virgil Rozenboom; brothers and sisters in law, Gary Lee Van Hemert, John Van Hemert, and Janice Cobler; and her close friend she thought of as a sister, Linda Sue Fisk.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 21, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel with Reverend Bev Modlin officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery at Pella. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will begin Thursday, October 20, 2022, after 12 noon in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel from 5-7 Thursday evening to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to the MHP Hospice Serenity House.

Obituary of Lloyd Eugene
Lloyd Eugene Van Hemert, 80, of Oskaloosa, died Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at the MHP Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. He was born June 20, 1943, in Pella, Iowa, the son of Marion Lloyd and Johanna Dirky Van Kalkeren/Van Hemert. He attended Pella Schools until entering the United States Marine Corps. He started his military career on April 12, 1961, at basic training in South Carolina. Following basic training he served in various places in the United States and Spain. He was honorably discharged on April 20, 1965, and had achieved the rank of Corporal E-4.

On December 18, 1964, while home on leave from the military, Lloyd was united in marriage to Anna Rae Rozenboom in Pella, Iowa. Lloyd started working at a very young age with a paper route he had as a child. Following school and his discharge from the Marine Corps. he went to work at Vermeer, first in Pella, Iowa and he took a job in Jackson, MI, and continued to work for Vermeer. After 10 years in Michigan the family returned to Pella to be closer to family. He owned and operated the Maid-Rite Restaurant for several years. The family moved to Oskaloosa and Lloyd went to work for his brother-in-law Jerry Rozenboom at DRS Trucking. After working at DRS, Lloyd decided to buy a truck and trailer of his own. He became an owner/operator and hit the road, which he did for the remaining years of his life until he retired 4 years ago. His final workplace was at Grubby's produce stand. He enjoyed interacting with customers and helping them pick the best watermelon. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage, he also enjoyed boating, camping, NASCAR, yard work, his family getting together to play cards, he enjoyed all of his grandkid's activities but most all he took pride in sharing his family legacy with his grandkids. "Dad/ Grandpa" never met a stranger and will always be remembered by his ability to carry on a conversation with all, friendly banter as well as always having a big smile on face and an even bigger smirk. :)

His family includes his three children, Stanley (Brenda) Van Hemert of Oskaloosa, Douglas Van Hemert of Fairfield, and Renae (Digger) Gillam of Oskaloosa; 11 grandchildren, Nikki (Phil) Shilling, Katie Rozenboom, Zachary Rozenboom, Gina Van Hemert, Luke Van Hemert, Elizabeth (Alan) Lord, Scotimay Van Hemert, Cheyenne Van Hemert, Christopher Van Hemert, Cierra Gillam, and Dakota Gillam; 14 great- grandchildren, Samara, Cason, Braylee, Naveah, Layla, Alicia, Taylin, Alice, Evelyn, Carly, Emma, Vash, Ryane, and Harper, and many nieces and nephews.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Rae on October 17, 2022; his parents; one son and his wife, Bob and Shelia Rozenboom; a grandson, Ryan Van Hemert, two brothers, Gary and John Van Hemert; one sister, Janice Cobler; four brother in-laws, Robert, Jerry, Donald, and Virgil Rozenboom; two sister in-laws, Jeanetta Dykstra and Geraldine Samson.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 8, 2024, at 10:00 in the Bates Funeral Chapel with Pastor Bev Modlin officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Pella. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be begin Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel with Lloyd's family present from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. to greet friends and relatives. In lieu of flowers, a memorial can be made to the MHP hospice Serenity House
