Mr. Maassen was born Oct. 22, 1896, in Bunnick, Holland, the son of John and Gertrude (Van Weerd) Maassen. He came to the United States with his family in 1902 and settled in the Maurice, Iowa, area. He attended country school near Maurice.
He married Anna Jellema on Feb. 17, 1922, in Orange City, Iowa. The couple made their home on a farm near Sheldon for 40 years. In 1962, he retired from farming and they moved into Sheldon. They entered Christian Retirement Home in Sheldon in September 1981. His wife died Oct. 2, 1981. He was a member of First Reformed Church and served as a formed board member with several organizations in the community.
Survivors include four daughters, Wilma David of Penney Farms, Fla., Helen and her husband, Harold Van Grouw of Redlands, Calif., Esther and her husband, Myron Meyer of Archer, Iowa, and Lois and her husband, Lawrence Tifft of Sanborn, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Galen Good of Las Vegas, Nev.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Good; three brothers, a sister, and a son-in-law, Manuel David.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Bill, Mike and Roger Meyer, Larry, Lyle and L.D. Tifft, Ron and Dave Van Grouw, Gary Good and Raja David.
Galen Good, 84, passed away April 8, 2011, to join his beloved wife, Margaret.
Galen moved to Las Vegas in 1959, to teach for the Clark County School District. In 1964, he became an elementary school principal at Madison. Later he opened Rex Bell Elementary and then moved to Lewis E. Rowe E.S., where he retired in 1986.
He served on numerous boards: CCSD Principal's Association, Nevada Association of Elementary School Principals, chairman of the Nevada State Education Association and member of the Governor's Educational Committee for then Governor Richard Bryan. On May 19, 1986, Gov. Bryan awarded a Proclamation for Outstanding Leadership in Education to Galen.
He was awarded a lifetime membership with the National Association of Elementary School Principals, the Nevada PTA and National PTA. As a charter member of the University Methodist Church, he served on several committees and remained active within the church for most of his life.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Good; brother, Merle Good; and sister, Ruby (Loren) Kimmel-Good.
He is survived by his son, Gary (Gloria) Good; daughter, Gayle (Carl) Keppler; sister, Jean (Pick) Moore; and grandson, Steven Good.
Family to receive friends 1-3 p.m. Thursday, April 14, at Palm Mortuary-Eastern. Funeral service following at 4:30 p.m., at University Methodist Church (Across from UNLV). Family requests donations to the University Methodist Church, in memory of Galen and Margaret Good.

On September 9, 1955 she was united in marriage to Lawrence Tifft at the First Reformed Church in Sheldon and to this union four children were born. The couple resided in Sanborn where she did various jobs over the years including working at the Pike Cafe, Creamery and Prairie View Home. Lawrence died on July 28, 2006. Lois continued to live at home in Sanborn. She died on April 28, 2010 at the age of 74 years, three days at Sanford Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
She was a member of First Reformed Church where she was a member of the church ladies' bible study group. She enjoyed making calendars, helping at Prairie View and having coffee with her lady friends. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very precious to her and she always cherished the time spent with them.
She is survived by her children: Larry Tifft; Lori (Randy) Roder; Lyle (Sherry); and L.D.; 20 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Esther (Myron) Meyer of Archer, Helen (Harold) Van Grouw of Redlands, CA, arid Wilma David of Penny's Farm, FL, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 50 years, Lawrence, a sister, Margaret Good, and a brother-in-law, Manuel David. Memorial services were held May 3 at First Reformed Church in Sanborn with Rev. Gary Hegstad officiating. Casket bearers were Chad DeMey, Tyler Tifft, Travis Tifft, Joshua Meyer, Kyle Tifft and Kelvin Tifft. Congregational hymns were "In the Garden," and "His Eye is on the Sparrow." and a CD, "I Can Only Imagine" was played. Arlene Dykstra was organist. Burial was in Roselanti Cemetery, Sanborn with the Sanborn Funeral Home in charge.

Lawrence Donald Tifft. the son of Kenneth and Elleanor (Heinsen) Tifft, was born on
January 14. 1933 in Sheldon.
He spent his childhood years in the Sanbom area and attended school there.
His mother died shortly after giving birth to him and his twin brother.
Alice Melvelt of Paullina helped raise him and his brothers until August of 1939 when
his dad remarried to Beulah Brahan.
On September 9, 1955. Lawrence was united in marriage to Lois Maassen at the First Reformed Church in Sheldon, and to this union, three sons and a daughter were born: Larry, Lori, Lyle and L.D. The couple resided in Sanborn where Lawrence had various jobs including his own grinding business and a sanitation service. He drove truck for Vander Veen Trucking for eight years, and then purchased his own truck and drove for Van Hof Trucking for 20 years. He loved driving his truck and meeting people wherever he went. On September 9, 2005. he and Lois celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary together. Due to failing health. Lawrence passed away at the Northwest Iowa Health Center on July 28, 2006 at the age of 73 years, six months and 14 days.

[redacted]: 10 great-grandchildren, his twin brother. Calif., and Wllma David of Penny's Farm. Fla.; other relatives and many friends.

Lawrence was a member of the First Reformed Church of Sanborn. He was a volunteer fireman for ten years. He loved animals and enjoyed helping his neighbors.
Memorial services were held Tuesday, August 1. 2006 at the First Reformed Church of Sanborn with Rev. Gary Hegstad officiating. Congregational hymns were "One Day at a Time," "How Great Thou Art," and "I'll Fly Away." Organist was Arlene Dykstra. Pallbearers were Chad DeMey, Tyler Tifft. Travis Tifft, Joshua Meyer. Kyle Tiffl, and Kelvin Tifft. Honorary Pallbearers were Harvey Post, John Prins. Fred Bakker. Clarence Green, Jack Green, Kenny Brower, Don Faas. Jr., Theron (Stub) Stahl. and Ernie Vander Heiden. Burial was In Roseland Cemetery, Sanborn, with the Sanborn Funeral Home on charge of arrangements.
