Ceel Vanden Brink was born on Wednesday; September 11, 1918 at the family farm near
Alvord; Lyon County, Iowa.
He was the son of Ceel Sr. & Tillie (Stip) Vanden Brink.
He was raised in the Inwood and Lester area and attended country schools.
Ceel was united in marriage to Nadine Hansen on January 17, 1941. The couple farmed near Alvord, Iowa until December of 1941 when they moved to Michigan where Ceel was employed by America Seeding. On June 15, 1942, Ceel was inducted into the U.S. Army. He served in the 636 Tank Destroyer Battalion, Roster Company "A" as a tank driver in the European Theater.
On September 30, 1945, Ceel was discharged from the Army with the rank of Tech 5. Ceel and Nadine farmed for the family in Lester until 1948. They then moved to Minot, ND where Ceel farmed for his uncle, John Stip until 1950. Ceel and Nadine then moved to Ash Creek, MN where they farmed for 9 years before returning to Iowa where they farmed south of Lester until 1987. In May of 2007 they moved from the family farm into Lester. Ceel was a member of the United Methodist Church in Rock Rapids, IA and a charter member of the Edward Bouwman American Legion Post No. 683 in Lester, Iowa. Ceel Vanden Brink, 91, passed away on Friday, April 2, 2010 at the Rock Rapids Health Centre in Rock Rapids, Iowa.
Those left to mourn his passing are: His loving wife of 69 years, Nadine Vanden Brink of Lester, IA; three children, Mary Ann Bieber of Rochester, NY, Denny (Loretta) Sioux Falls, SD and Judy (Pete) Ver Meer of Lester, IA; four grandchildren, Jason (Amy) Balster, Natalie (Scott) Cross, Craig (Wendy) Vanden Brink and John Vanden Brink; five great-grandchildren, Bradley and Cole Balster, Jessica, Nicole and Wyatt Vanden Brink; two brothers, Henry Vanden Brink of Rock Valley, IA and Gerrit Vanden Brink of Inwood, IA; and many other extended family.
Ceel was preceded in death by his parents, Ceel and Tillie Vanden Brink; two sisters, Cornie Schouwenburg and Gertie Martens; and two son-in-laws, Virgil Balster and Joseph Aiello. May they rest in peace.
Nadine Mary (Hansen) Vanden Brink was born on December 16, 1922 on the Hansen Family Farm south of Lester, IA, to F.J. (Jude) and Emma (Johnson) Hansen. Nadine was the youngest of four children. Nadine attended country school and graduated from Lester High School in 1940.
On January 17, 1941, Nadine married the love of her life Ceel Vanden Brink in Spencer, IA at the Methodist parsonage; they were married for sixty-nine years. To this marriage three children were born, Mary Ann, Dennis and Judy. While Ceel was in the service Nadine and Mary Ann lived in Sioux City, IA, where she worked for the Sioux City packing house. While there she met her best friend Clara Huber who Mary Ann called Aunt Clara and to this day when we talk about her she was still known as Aunt Clara even to Nadine's grandchildren.
After Ceel returned from WWII they lived in Michigan, North Dakota, Minnesota and in 1959, they moved back to the Hansen Family Farm and remained there until 2008, when they moved into Lester. Nadine was a member of the United Methodist Church in Rock Rapids for many years. She was active in WSCS and the ladies circle and in her younger years taught Sunday school. Ceel passed away April 2, 2010 and in August of 2011, Nadine fell and broke her hip. She moved into the Rock Rapids Health Centre and had made that her permanent home. There she passed away this past Sunday, November 29, 2015 and the age of 92.
Nadine is survived by her son, Dennis (Loretta) Vanden Brink of Sioux Falls, SD and her daughter, Judy (Pete) Ver Meer of Lester, IA. Also surviving are grandchildren: Jason (Amy) Balster of rural Alvord, IA, Natalie (Scott) Cross of Lester, IA, Craig (Wendy) Vanden Brink of Sioux Falls, SD and John Vanden Brink of Sioux Falls, SD; great-grandchildren: Jessica, Nicole and Wyatt Vanden Brink and Bradley and Cole Balster; and nieces, nephews and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ceel; her daughter, Mary Ann; sons-in-law, Virgil Balster and Joseph Aiello; her brother, Milton Hansen; her sisters, Marcella Newborg and Melva Jean Moser.

Henry Van Den Brink, 91 of Rock Valley, died Friday September 30, 2011 at Whispering
Heights.
Funeral Service 2 pm Wednesday at Netherlands Reformed Congregation, Rock Valley.
Burial at Valley View Cemetery.
Visitation Tuesday with family present 6-8 pm at Porter Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Netherlands Reformed Christian School.
Henry was born January 16, 1920 near Inwood, IA, son of Ceel and Tillie (Stipp) Van Den Brink. He married Evelyn Van Galen on September 25, 1944 at Lester, IA. Together they farmed in the Alvord-Lester area until moving to a farm near Rock Rapids, IA. Henry and Evelyn moved to Whispering Heights at Rock Valley in April of 2008. Evelyn died on September 16, 2008.
Surviving relatives are his sons, Robert (Jean) Van Den Brink of Sioux Falls, SD, Richard (Jolene) Van Den Brink of Rock Rapids, IA; 5 grandchildren, Brian (Hayley) Van Den Brink of Sioux Falls, Lisa (Trent) Boe of Harrisburg, SD, Michelle (Fred) Ymker of Sioux Falls, Joel (Melanie) Van Den Brink of Rock Valley, Joni (Randy) Ymker of Rock Valley; 13 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Nadine Van Den Brink of Lester, IA.
Henry was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; brothers, Ceel and Gerrit Van Den Brink; sisters Cornelia Schouwenberg and Gertie Martens.

Evelyn Van Galen was born September 25, 1922 to Herman and Hattie (Loverink) Van Galen on a farm near Rock Valley, IA. She grew up on a farm near Inwood. As a young girl, Evelyn worked as a live in helper for various families to help with housekeeping and caring for the family.
Evelyn was united in marriage to Henry Van Den Brink on September 25, 1944 in Lester, IA. Together they farmed in the Alvord/Lester areas until moving to a farm near Rock Rapids in 1970. In April, 2008, Evelyn and Henry moved to Whispering Heights (Valley Manor), Rock Valley. She was a member of the Netherlands Reformed Congregation. Evelyn was a friend to everyone and enjoyed special times with family.
Evelyn is survived by her husband, Henry of Rock Valley; sons: Robert (Jean) Van Den Brink of Sioux Falls, SD and Richard (Jolene) Van Den Brink of Rock Rapids; grandchildren: Brian (Hayley) Van Den Brink of Sioux Falls, Lisa (Trent) Boe of Harrisburg, SD, Michelle (Fred) Ymker of Sioux Falls, Joel (Melanie) Van Den Brink and Joni Van Den Brink all of Rock Valley; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Burgers of Hawarden, IA; several nieces and nephews.

Gerrit Van Den Brink was born January 20, 1925 near Inwood, IA. Gerrit married Martina Bouwman on May 3, 1950 at Doon, IA. Together they farmed near Alvord until 1964 when they moved to Beaver Creek, MN and then moved to Colton, SD in 1978 working for the Colton Elevator. They retired and moved to Inwood in 1995 and worked at the West Lyon Coop up until a couple of years ago. Martina died on November 25, 2000.
Gerrit is survived by his children: Beverly Starnes and Gary Van Den Brink both of Sioux Falls, SD; granddaughters: Lacey (Ryan) Pressler and Katlyn Starnes and her special friend, Nick Jongeling all of Humboldt, SD; great-granddaughter, Avery Pressler; brother, Hank Van Den Brink of Rock Valley, IA; several brothers and sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Martina; brother, Ceel Van Den Brink; sisters: Cornelia Schouwenberg and Gertie Martens.
