Falls VA Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 23, at 1:30 p.m. at Netherlands
Reformed Congregation in Rock Valley, Iowa with Rev. E.C. Adams officiating.
Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Rock Valley.
Visitation, with the family present, will be held Tuesday, November 22, from
6:30-8:00 p.m. at Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley.
Arie Blom was born March 22, 1929, near Pella, Iowa, son of Cornelius and Maria (Van Dorp) Blom. Arie proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corp from September 1951 to September 1953, during the Korean conflict. He was united in marriage with Clazina Fluit on November 30, 1954, at Inwood, Iowa. Together they lived and farmed west of Inwood. Clazina died February 28, 2016. Arie was a member of the Netherlands Reformed Congregation in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Arie is survived by his 9 children, Cornelius (Bev) Blom of Corsica, South Dakota, Roberta (Don) Roberts of Sioux Falls, William (Tena) Blom of Doon, Iowa, Marilyn (Mike) Hoogendoorn of Rock Valley, Iowa, Shirley (Dick) Spaans of Armour, South Dakota, Laura (Mark) Bleeker of Jenison, Michigan, Susan (Dan) Kamp of Hawarden, Iowa, Don (Heather) Blom of Inwood, and Tom Blom of Inwood; 34 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; brother, Henry Blom of Rock Valley; brother-in-law, Gerrit Vande Hoef of Sioux Center, Iowa; and 2 sisters-in-law, Jean Blom of Corsica and Tillie Blom of Rock Valley.

Leonard Spaans was born on October 5, 1935, near Corsica, South Dakota, son of Dick and Tena Spaans. He married Elizabeth Fluit on February 14, 1957, in Inwood, Iowa. Together they lived on a farm west of Larchwood, Iowa. In 1962, they started farming by Rock Valley, Iowa and moved to a farm near Larchwood in 1969. They retired from farming in 2000. During retirement, he enjoyed collecting and restoring antique and toy tractors. He was a member of the Netherlands Reformed Church and served as a Deacon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and currently was a member of the Netherlands Reformed Congregation in Rock Valley, Iowa.
Surviving relatives include his 6 children, Herbert (Lavonne) Spaans, of Larchwood, Iowa, Deborah (Rallyn) Van Ginkel of Inwood, Iowa, Kevin (Ann) Spaans of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Linda (Les) Roemen of Larchwood, Iowa, Daryl (Jeanette) Spaans of Larchwood, Iowa and Sharla Van Beek of Orange City, Iowa; 25 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Pauline Spaans, Joanne Spaans, Kathy Spaans, Elizabeth "Betty" Spaans, Rosalie Spaans, Betty Spaans, Beverly Fluit, and Bernice Wiekamp.

Gerald was born November 23, 1946 at Canton, SD, son of William and Bertha Korenberg Fluit. The family farmed NW of Inwood where Gerald attended country school. Due to his epileptic seizures, Gerald lived with his parents on the farm and later at Inwood until his mother's death. Gerald moved to the Valley Manor at Rock Valley on April 7, 1999.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Bertha; and 2 infant brothers.
