Everett Van Ginkel, 82, of Rock Valley, Iowa died Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Whispering
Heights in Rock Valley.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, August 2, at 2:30 p.m. at Netherlands Reformed
Congregation of Rock Valley with Rev. E.C. Adams officiating.
Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery of Rock Valley.
Visitation with the family present will be Monday, August 1 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in
the large gymnasium at the Netherlands Reformed Christian School.
Memorials may be given to the Netherlands Reformed Christian School.
Everett Van Ginkel, son of Henry "Hank" and Anna (Groeneweg) Van Ginkel, was born November 14, 1933 near Rock Valley, Iowa. Everett attended Rock Valley Community School. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, serving 1½ years active duty in France.
Everett was united in marriage with Clazina Fluit on June 25, 1958. Together the couple made their home in Rock Valley where they raised their 9 children. Everett worked for Community Oil Company for 43 years from 1952-1995. After retiring from Community Oil, Everett worked part-time as janitor of Netherlands Reformed Congregation, delivery truck driver for Midwest Pro Manufacturing and mowed for the city of Rock Valley. He enjoyed woodworking, flying model airplanes, traveling, and spending time with family. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Clazina Van Ginkel; 9 children, Howard (Avonne) Van Ginkel, (David) Joyce Sipma, Evan (Debra) Van Ginkel, (Gregory) Charlene Sonne, Myron (Joni) Van Ginkel, David (LaRee) Van Ginkel, Eugene (Diane) Van Ginkel, (Mark) Melinda Kelderman, and Paul (Andrea) Van Ginkel; 53 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Gertrude Smith, Lavina Vanden Brink, Bernice Hup, Harold (Glenda) Van Ginkel; brother-in-law's & sister-in-laws, (Donald) Janet Rowe, Jerald (Trudy) Fluit, Bernard Fluit, (Otto) Mary Lawson, and many, many nieces and nephews.
Everett was preceded in death by his parents, Hank & Anna Van Ginkel; grandson, Luke Kelderman; sister, Marlene (Van Ginkel) Wynia; brother-in-law's John Fluit, Tunis Fluit, James Fluit, William Smith, Richard Vanden Brink, Gerrit Hup; and sister-in-law, Nellie Fluit.
Clazina Van Ginkel, 82, of Rock Valley, Iowa, died Friday, September 25, 2020 at
Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 29, at 10:00 AM at the Netherlands
Reformed Church in Rock Valley with Rev. J.J. Witvoet officiating.
Private family burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery of Rock Valley.
Public visitation, with no family present, will be held Monday, September 28 at Porter
Funeral Home of Rock Valley from 4:00-8:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Netherlands Reformed Christian School.
Clazina (Fluit) Van Ginkel, daughter of Jella and Jennie (De Bondt) Fluit, was born September 12, 1938 at Larchwood, Iowa. She attended school through the 8th grade. On June 25, 1958, Clazina was united in marriage with Everett Van Ginkel. Together the couple made their home in Rock Valley where they raised their 9 children. Clazina worked as a CNA at Valley Manor, packer at Kooima Manufacturing, cleaned homes, catered food, and served as a Senior Companion along with many other jobs. She was very active to say the least. Clazina enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, baking, quilting, crocheting, playing board games, fixing puzzles, and traveling. She will be remembered for her delicious potato salad, Dutch almond letters, homemade cinnamon rolls, and St. Nick cookies! Clazina was a member of the Netherlands Reformed Congregation.
She is survived by 8 children, Howard (Avonne) Van Ginkel, Joyce (David) Sipma, Charlene (Gregory) Sonne, Myron (Joni) Van Ginkel, David (LaRee) Van Ginkel, Eugene (Diane) Van Ginkel, Melinda (Mark) Kelderman, and Paul (Andrea) Van Ginkel; daughter-in-law, Debra Van Ginkel; 31 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Jerald (Trudy) Fluit and Bernard Fluit; 2 sisters, Janet (Dennis) Rowe and Mary (Otto) Lawson; brother-in-law, Harold (Glenda) Van Ginkel; and 2 sisters-in-law, Gertrude Smith and Bernice Hup.
Clazina was preceded in death by her parents, Jella and Jennie; husband, Everett; son, Evan "Chic" Van Ginkel; 2 grandsons, Luke Kelderman and Nicholas Van Ginkel; parents-in-law, Henry "Hank" and Anna Van Ginkel; 3 brothers, John Fluit, Tunis Fluit, and James Fluit; 3 brothers-in-law, William Smith, Richard Vanden Brink, and Gerrit Hup; and 3 sisters-in-law, Nellie Fluit, Lavina Vanden Brink, and Marlene Wynia.

John was born August 30, 1939, in Larchwood, Iowa, and grew to young manhood in this area. On February 11, 1959, he entered the army at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., and served until receiving a medical discharge on June 15, 1961. His military career included 13 months service in Korea. He was stationed for a time at Ft. Knox, Ky., and at Ft. Riley, Kans., and also was confined for a time at Fritzimmons Army Hospital in Denver.

Tunis Fluit, age 72 of Rock Valley, died Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Hegg Memorial
Health Center in Rock Valley.
Tunis Fluit, son of Jella and Jennie (De Bondt) Fluit, was born on September 23, 1940
in Larchwood, Iowa.
Tunis was a graduate of Sioux Center High School.
Tunis served his country as a member of the United States Army.
On July 8, 1970 Tunis was united in marriage with Nellie Rus. Two years later, the couple welcomed a son, John Lee. Tunis worked in several different industries, but spent most of his life driving truck. Tunis was living in Parkston, South Dakota when Nellie passed away on June 5, 2008. Tunis later moved to Whispering Heights in Rock Valley, where he resided until his death.
Survivors include Tunis son, John Lee (Natalie) Fluit of Des Moines, Iowa; four grandchildren; two brothers, Jerald (Trudy) Fluit and Bernard Fluit, both of Grand Rapids, Michigan; three sisters, Clazina (Everett) Van Ginkel of Rock Valley; Janet (Dennis) Rowe of Paradise, California and Mary (Otto) Lawson of Oak Harbor, Washington and several nieces and nephews.
Tunis was preceded in death by his parents, Jella and Jennie, wife, Nellie, and two brothers, John and James Fluit.

Jim was a 1971 graduate of Sioux Center Community High School and had been attending Northwest Iowa Vocational school at Sheldon. Jim was born at Rock Rapids, Iowa, November 10, 1952.
