Mildred J. Reinking, 78, of Maurice died on Thursday, March 11, at the Orange City
Municipal Hospital.
A memorial service was on Monday, March 15, at First Reformed Church in Maurice, the
Rev. Wayne Sneller officiating.
Interment was prior to the service at Sherman Township Cemetery near Maurice.
Mildred Johanna was bom on June 11, 1920, in rural Maurice, the daughter of George and Hattie (Vander Stoep) Van Roekel. She was raised on a farm near Maurice.
On February 15, 1939, she married Irwin Frederick Emil Reinking at Maurice. They farmed near Maurice and, in 1975, they moved into town. Her husband died on August 22, 1989, in Orange City.
Mrs. Reinking was a member of First Reformed Church where she had been active in women's organizations. She also belonged to the Senior Citizens' Club, Women's Club and Booster Club, all in Maurice. She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting and making things for her family.
Survivors include her six children and their spouses, Allen and Amelia "Dee" Reinking of Los Alamitos, California, Diane and Jerry Munro of Maurice, Carl and Nancy Reinking of Orange City, Mary and Dennis De Zeeuw of Sioux Center, Joanne and Robert Schalekamp of Orange City and Darrell and Janice Reinking of Webster City; 12 grandchildren, David Reinking and his wife, Denise; Larry Reinking; Jeffrey and Matthew Munro; Daniel Reinking; Pamela and her husband, Brian Ufen; Sherri and her husband, Benjamin Langton; Douglas De Zeeuw; Wendi and Jackie Schalekamp; and Jesse and Kelly Reinking. Other survivors are a great-grandson, Johnathon Reinking; a brother, Howard Van Roekel of Orange City; and two sisters, Esther Mieras and Shirley Dykstra, both of Sioux City.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Wallace Van Roekel, and a sister, Verna De Kock.

Irwin Reinking, 80, of Maurice passed away Tuesday, Aug. 22, 1989, in the Orange City Municipal Nursing Home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the First Reformed Church in Maurice with the Rev. Kenneth Westrate officiating. Interment will be in Sherman Township Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Thursday with the family present from 7-8:30 p.m. in Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home in Orange City.
Irwin Frederick Emil was born May 19,1909, in Wheatland, son of Conrad and Irma (Lendt) Reinking. He moved with his family to the Maurice area about 1921.
He married Mildred Johanna Van Roekel Feb. 15,1939, in Maurice. The couple farmed near Maurice until retiring in 1973. In 1975 they moved into Maurice. Since April 1988 he had been a resident of the nursing home. Mr. Reinking was a member of the First Reformed Church of Maurice and the Maurice Senior Citizens Club.
Survivors include his wife; six children, Allen and Amelia "Dee" of Los Alamitos, Calif., Diane and her husband Jerome Munro of Maurice, Carl and his wife Nancy of Orange City, Mary and her husband Dennis De Zeeuw of Sioux Center, Joanne and her husband Robert Schalekamp of Orange City, and Darrell and his wife Janice of Webster City; 12 grandchildren, David and Larry Reinking, Jeffrey and Matthew Munro, Daniel and Pamela Reinking, Sherri and Douglas De Zeeuw, Wendi and Jackie Schalekamp and Jesse and Kelly Reinking; and a brother, Clifford of Ireton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Herbert, Donald, Wayne, Elmer and Merle.

On September 21, 1968, he married Diane Faye Reinking, and they made their home in Sioux City, Hawarden, Maurice and Orange City. Together they owned and operated the Central Cafe and Central Catering in Hawarden and Munro's Buffet in Le Mars and Sioux City. After retiring, he spent many years telling tall tales and making new friends at Golden Eagle Resort in Perham, Minnesota. Jerry had an infectious laugh and a smile for everyone he encountered. He truly never met a stranger.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, Jeff and Alexis Munro and Matt and Danni Munro; three grandchildren, Cade, Jenna and Landon Munro; three brothers and their wives, Jim and Cathy, Donnie and Bonnie, and Randy and Jo; and one sister, Kristine, as well as many in-laws and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Diane.
Mr. Carl Reinking, age 76, of Orange City, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2022,
at the Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen.
A visitation with the family present will be held on Friday, September 30, from 5:00pm
to 7:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.
A family prayer service will take place on Saturday, October 1, at 10:00am, at the
funeral home, followed by interment at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City.
There will be a celebration of Carl's life on Saturday, at 11:00am, at the Calvary
Christian Reformed Church in Orange City with the Rev. John Klompien and the Rev. John
Tock officiating.
Carl Frederick Reinking was born on September 30, 1945, the son of Irwin and Mildred (Van Roekel) Reinking. He was raised on their farm and attended school in Maurice through the eighth grade. Carl attended the Maurice-Orange City High School and graduated with the Class of 1963. During his high school years, he was well-known in northwest Iowa as an excellent athlete. He was especially skilled in basketball, making as many as forty points in a game. Carl attended Northwestern College in Orange City for one year on a basketball scholarship, and then began as a line worker at Silent Sioux Corporation. He was soon promoted to the cost accounting department.
On April 3, 1965, Carl married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Lee Hollinga. He joined the American Reformed Church where he served as treasurer, did groundskeeping, and served as an elder and deacon. In addition to working, Carl joined the National Guard. Later, Carl and Nan were warmly welcomed into the fellowship of Calvary Christian Reformed Church.
In 1968, two weeks before their first baby was due to arrive, Carl was called to active duty with the Army National Guard, stationed at Fort Carson in Colorado. Carl was away in basic training when his son, Daniel, was born. In May of 1969 Carl was sent to serve with Company C, 1st Battalion, 46th Infantry, 198th Infantry Brigade, Americal Division near Chu Lai, Vietnam, as an infantryman.
When Carl returned home, his job was waiting at Silent Sioux. In 1971, his daughter, Pamela was born, and in 1972, he began work at Vogel Paint & Wax in cost analysis. In 1980, he worked in purchasing for Diamond Vogel Paints, becoming the Director of Purchasing. After working 31 years for that company, he retired in 2003. He obtained a real estate license and worked for Realty Associates.
Carl and Nan did a lot of traveling, especially spending time in National Parks. He visited every state in the union and traveled to England and Holland. He enjoyed target shooting, attending nature programs at Oak Grove, and playing snooker with "the boys" at the Senior Center. Carl loved to golf and had the golfer's joy of getting a hole-in-one. He was a member of the JayCees and Lion's Club, serving as president. Carl and Nan delivered Meals on Wheels together, and he drove as a volunteer for the Orange City Area Health System. He was a member of the Pressman Kosters American Legion Post. Carl was known for his quick wit and sense of humor.
Health problems started in the spring of 2022. By August, Carl was diagnosed with Dementia with Lewy Bodies, and he entered the Happy Siesta Health Care Center. The disease progressed rapidly, and he passed away after six weeks.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Diane Munro; his wife's parents, Lambert and Olva Hollinga; and by many aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nan, of Orange City; his son, Dan, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; his daughter, Pamela, and her husband Brian Ufen, and their daughters, Annalyn and Coralee, of Pleasant View, Tennessee; his siblings, Allen (Dee) Reinking, Mary (Dennis) De Zeeuw, Joanne (Bob) Schalekamp, Darrell (Jan) Reinking; a brother-in-law, Jerry Munro; his wife's siblings, Ken (Karen) Hollinga, Linda Marven, Mike Hollinga; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial gifts will be given to the Sioux County Conservation Board Prairie Woods Nature Center and the Orange City Area Home Health and Hospice.
