Obituary of Marilyn Ruth

Sadness came to the Anthony Muilenburg home near Middleburg early Tuesday morning when their 13 year-old daughter Marilyn Ruth passed away after a lingering illness of diabetes coupled with a severe case of pneumonia which lasted scarcely 2 days.

Marilyn was an 8th grade pupil in the rural school near Middleburg and attended catechism and Sunday school, going with other members of the family.

Surviving are her parents, 1 brother Vernon, 4 sisters, Gwendolyn, Betty, Audrey and Judith Ann. Also her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John A. Muilenburg and Mr. and Mrs. Martin, and many other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Thursday (today) at 12:45 at the home and 1:30 at The First Ref. church with the local pastor Rev. H. Colenbrander and Rev. K. Colenbrander of Middleburg officiating. Interment will be made in the local cemetery.

Obituary of Anthony

Funeral services were held at the First Reformed Church in Orange City at 1:30 P.M. April 9 for Anthony Muilenburg, 70 of Orange City, who died April 5 at the Orange City Hospital.

Services were conducted by the Rev. E. Van Engelenhoven and burial was in West Lawn Cemetery at Orange City.

Mr. Muilenburg was born at Orange City December 14, 1902, and was a lifelong resident of that community.

He married Martina Korver January 15, 1925 at Orange City. The couple farmed near Orange City until retiring and moving into town In 1958.

He had operated the Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City the past five years.

Survivors include the widow; a son, Vernon, of Maurice; four daughters, Mrs. Peter (Gwendolyn) Hoogland of Maurice Mrs. Henry (Beth) Haarsma of Orange City, Mrs. Lee (Audrey) Van Engelenhoven of Birmigham, Ala., and Mrs. Richard (Judith) Gabel of Rochester, Mich.; five brothers, Franklin, Howard, Elmer, Marion and Nelson all of Orange City; four sisters, Mrs. Ed Van Gorp, Mrs. Lou Van't Hof, Mrs. John Stander and Mrs. Richard Oolman, all of Orange City; and 16 grandchildren.

Obituary of Anthony
Martina Muilenburg, 95, of Orange City died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at the Orange City Municipal Hospital.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 18 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Steven Vander Molen and the Rev. David Sterk will officiate. Burial will follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange Cily under the direction of the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Martina was born Aug. 16, 1904, in rural Alton, the daughter of Martin and Jennie (Mouw) Korver. She was raised northeast of Orange City.

On Jan. 15, 1925, she married Anthony Muilenburg at rural Alton. They farmed in the Orange City area until 1958, when they moved into Orange City.

In 1968, Anthony and Marlina founded and began operating the Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City. Mr. Muilenburg died April 5,1973, in Orange City.

Martina continued working at the Heritage House until the age of 90. She helped with many of the activities there, including worship services, hymn sings, birthday parties and bingo. In August of 1998, she became a resident of the Pioneer Memorial Home in Orange City.

Mrs. Muilenburg was an active member of the First Reformed Church where she participated in the womens organizations and served as a Sunday School teacher.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Vernon and Margaret Muilenburg of Maurice; four daughters and their husbands; Gwendolyn and Peter Hoogland of Sioux Center. Beth and Henry Haarsma of Orange City, Audrey, and Lee Van Engelenhoven of Lakeland, Fla. and Judy and Richard Gabel of Surprise, Ariz.; 16 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Simon and Gertrude Korver of Lynden, Wash.; and two sisters-in-law, Allie Korver and Winnie Stander, both of Orange City.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn Ruth; a grandson, Lee Van Engelenhoven, Jr.; six brolhers, William, Henry, infant Arthur, Arthur, Myron and John Korver; and a sister, Myna Haverdink.

Memorials may be directed to Northwestern College or First Reformed Church.
