He was born to Martin and Jennie Mouw Korver on December 12, 1918 in Alton, Iowa; where he grew-up and graduated from high school. On March 8, 1940 he was married to Gertrude Grifhorst and in December 1946 they moved to Whatcom County.
Simon worked in the lumber industry for more than 30 years selling building supplies. His career included employment at Columbia Valley/Copeland Lumber and retirement from Bellingham Sash and Door. After retiring, Simon enjoyed golfing, gardening, walking, reading, many fishing trips with Gertrude and traveling as a longtime member of the Good Sam Club. Simon was a member of First Reformed Church in Lynden and served in several capacities in the Nooksack Valley Reformed Church prior to moving to Lynden.
Preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters;

Dad was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was known for his warm smile and encouraging word. He not only was concerned for the well being of others but he put his concern into action. Dad loved spending time with his family and was proud of their accomplishments. He will be deeply missed.
