Evelyn G. Bass, nee DeYoung, age 90, joined the Lord and many loved ones on December
13, 2011.
She is survived by three daughters: Bonnie Bass Parker, Elizabeth(John) Douville, and Kelly(Carl) Brown; two sons: Jeff(Linda) Bass and Bill(Lois) Bass; Grandchildren: Aaron Bass, Shauna Bass, Alexandria Bass ,Dylan E. Bass and Elisia Douville; Sister: Kathy(John) Vinke; Brothers: Peter DeYoung, Jack(Ellen) DeYoung and James(Cathy) DeYoung.
Preceded in death by her husband Joseph E. Bass, a son Joseph Barry Bass, and a brother Teddy DeYoung.

Mr. Vinke was a W.W. II Army veteran and served in Patton's 3rd Army, Yankee Division, 26th Infantry. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge and with his service he was awarded the Silver and Bronze stars. He was also a member of the American Legion South Holland Post#883 and a longtime member of the South Holland Lions Club and a member of First Reformed Church in South Holland. Mr. Vinke also served as a Village of South Holland Trustee for 25 years and was a member of the Board of Directors of the First National Bank of Dolton.
Memorial contributions may be given to the South Holland Lions Club.

Peter DeYoung, 91, recently of Edgar, Wisconsin, and Mesa, Arizona, died on September 23 under hospice care in Holland, Michigan Born September 10, 1925, in Woodstock, Minnesota, to Teunis P. and Henrietta (Mouw) DeYoung, he graduated from Thornton Township High School and Thornton Junior College in Harvey, Illinois. He operated farms in Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, gradually retiring in his 80s, and enjoyed spending winters in Mesa.
He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Edgar and worshiped faithfully with Maranatha Christian Reformed Church in Mesa. Peter was a World War II Army Veteran, a skilled card player, and a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan who was following their 2016 season with great interest and expectation.
He was preceded in death by a son, Kevin, in 1965; first wife of 58 years, June, in 2006; second wife of three years, JoAnn, in 2011; and siblings Evelyn and Joseph Bass, John L. Vinke, Ted and Barbara DeYoung, and Cathy DeYoung.
He is survived by children Lee and Sheri DeYoung of Jenison, Michigan, Wayne and JoAnne DeYoung of Manteno, Illinois, Terry and Cindi Veldheer DeYoung of Holland, Michigan, Kent DeYoung and Joe Miracle of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Burt and Dawn DeYoung of Edgar, Wisconsin, and daughter-in-law Penny DeYoung of Dyer, Indiana; 12 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; siblings Kathryn Vinke of South Holland, Illinois, Jack and Ellen DeYoung of Lynden, Washington, and Jim DeYoung of Avon Lake, Ohio; and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. and the funeral at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Wilton Center Federated Church, 14101 W. Joliet Rd., Manhattan, Illinois. Burial will be at Skyline Memorial Park in Monee, Illinois.

John "Jack" DeYoung, age 90, died peacefully in his Bellingham, WA home on January 25,
2026.
He was known for his quiet nature and intellectual inquisitiveness.
Jack was the fifth child of two sisters and four brothers.
He was born on September 7, 1935, to Teunis and Henrietta (Mouw) DeYoung in South
Holland, Illinois.
He was raised in South Holland, graduating from Thornton Township High School.
He went on to graduate from Iowa State University.
He, later, attended and completed a Law Degree at the University of Minnesota in 1977.
Jack married Ellen Visser on March 8, 1958. Together they had seven children. He and Ellen moved to Lynden in 1987; he moved to his son's (Tim) house in Bellingham in 2024. Jack was active in Reformed, Presbyterian, and Lutheran churches, and recently the First Congregational Church of Bellingham. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren giving him endless joy. Jack was a grain & livestock farmer in Illinois, Minnesota, and Alabama; attorney in Minnesota; trucking business owner & operator in Washington; and an entrepreneur.
Jack is preceded in death by his wife Ellen (Visser) DeYoung, siblings Evelyn, Kathryn, Peter, Ted and James, sisters-in-law Joni VanDerAa and Mildred VanProoyen and daughter-in-law Martha DeYoung.
He is survived by his children Tim (Khim) DeYoung of Bellingham, Tamara (Louie) Palmer of Blaine, Trella (Scott) Boone of Foley, AL, Todd (Seck) DeYoung of Singapore, Joel (Katherine) Earnest-DeYoung of Lynge, Denmark, Jonathan (Terri) DeYoung of Mesa, AZ and Jason (Sorcha) DeYoung of West Linn, OR; 15 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He will be missed by his remaining sister-in-law Janice (Visser) Balkema.

Obituary for Ellen Mae DeYoung
Ellen Mae DeYoung, age 78, died peacefully in her Lynden, WA home on February 4, 2017. She was known for her warm personality and beautiful singing voice. Ellen was the third of four sisters. She was born September 11, 1938 to Joseph and Adriana (DeGroot) Visser in Harvey, Illinois. She was raised in South Holland, Illinois, graduating from Thornton Township High School.
Ellen married John W. "Jack" DeYoung on March 8, 1958. Together they had seven children. She and Jack moved to Lynden in 1987. Ellen was active in Reformed, Presbyterian, and Lutheran churches, and recently the First Congregational Church of Bellingham. She loved to sing at church whether it was in a choir, with the congregation or singing a solo. She was a member of the Lynden Choral Society. Spending time with her children, grandchildren and husband gave her endless joy. Ellen worked as a bank secretary, law clerk and Superior Court clerk retiring in 2007.
Ellen is preceded in death by her sister Joni VanDerAa and daughter-in-law Martha DeYoung.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jack; children Tim (Khim) DeYoung of Bellingham, Tamara (Louie) Palmer of Bellingham, Trella (Scott) Boone of Foley, AL, Todd (Seck) DeYoung of Singapore, Joel (Katherine) Earnest-DeYoung of Lynge, Denmark, Jonathan (Terri) DeYoung of Mesa, AZ and Jason (Sorcha) DeYoung of West Linn, OR; 14 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She will be missed by her two sisters Mildred VanProoyen and Janice Balkema.

Catherine J. De Young, (nee Severini), age 71, passed away August 24, 2015. Catherine was the wife of James R. DeYoung and mother of Jim Ruggiero Jr., Suzanne (nee Ruggiero) Wehrman (Tim), James D. DeYoung and Lorne DeYoung (Stacey); grandmother of Luke, Lily and Sam; daughter of Rose and Dominic Severini (deceased); and sister of Joan Miller, Barbara Aleson and Betty Ann Wervey (deceased).
Cathy was a resident of Avon Lake, Ohio., and Sarasota, Florida, and enjoyed entertaining her family and friends in both homes. She was active in Sarasota in fundraising for the Komen Foundation. Besides cooking, her favorite hobbies included bridge, water color painting and swimming. She was an avid reader.
She grew up at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish on the West Side of Cleveland and was proud of her Italian heritage, and the fact that she was in the original first grade when the school was founded. She graduated from Tri-C West with an Associate Degree in Business Management and Magna Cum Laude from Ohio Dominican with a BA in Communications.
