Mr. Van Roekel was born Jan. 11, 1916 at Maurice. He married Arnetta Jansma on Oct. 6, 1941, at Maurice. She died Nov. 11, 1951. He married Block on June 29, 1973, at Maurice. He was a lifelong area farmer. He was a member of the First Reformed Church in Maurice.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Merlin (Carol) Foreman and one son, Arlan, both of Des Moines; his mother, Mrs. Rudy (Hattie) Van Pelt of Orange City; four sisters, Mrs. Vernon (Verna) DeKock of Sheldon, Mrs. Irwin (Mildred) Reinking of Maurice, Mrs. Howard (Esther) Mieras and Mrs. George (Shirley) Dykstra, both of Sioux City; one brother, Howard of Maurice; and five grandchildren.

Funeral Services For Maurice Woman Wednesday P.M. Mrs. Wallace Van Roekel (nee Arnetta Jansma) passed away at her home on Sunday evening, Nov. 11 after a lingering illness. She had reached the age of 35 years, 10 months and 7 days.
Mrs. Van Roekel was born near Maurice and had lived in that community all her life and taught in rural schools for about seven years. She was a member in full communion of the First Reformed Church and also member of the Sunshine Circle. She was always active in community and church work.
On Nov. 6, 1941 she was united in marriage with Wallace Van Roekel and since that time have made their home on a farm south of Maurice. To this union two children were born.
Survivors include the husband and two small children, Carol, age 8 and Arlan, age 5; her father, Charles Jansma, and one brother, Pierce of Maurice.

Carol Ann Foreman, age 80, passed from this life and entered her Eternal home in Heaven
on October 15, 2024.
Carol was born in Orange City, Iowa on November 16, 1943.
She attended school in Maurice, Iowa, and graduated from Maurice - Orange City Community
High School in 1961.
She married Merlin Foreman on September 23, 1961, at the First Reformed Church in Maurice. Carol and Merlin established their home in Des Moines, Iowa. She attended and graduated from AIB School of Business prior to the birth of their three children Lisa, Lori, and James. She was instrumental as a homemaker and mother, providing a loving Christian home for her family. She was an active member of Meredith Drive Reformed Church, and served as an elder, choir member, VBS Director and Sunday School Teacher. Carol participated in establishing the Women's Bible Study Fellowship in Des Moines, and served as a Discussion Leader and Assistant Teaching Leader for 16 years.
She loved her grandchildren, and enjoyed having them visit for VBS which they attended together. She was an avid gardener with a green thumb. She and her husband loved to travel and were privileged to do several foreign trips as well as numerous vacations throughout the United States and Canada.
Carol is survived by her husband Merlin for 63 years; a daughter Lisa and her husband Craig Parker of Noblesville, Indiana, and their children Rebecca Harder and husband Andrew and Shane Parker and wife Cassidy; a daughter Lori and her husband Gary Van Dalen of Newton, Iowa, and their children Charlie Fisette and Benjamin Van Dalen; and daughter-in-law Kristen and her husband Steve Ferrick of Waukee, Iowa, and her children Michael Foreman and his wife Natalie and Ryan Foreman; three great grandchildren Josiah Foreman, Samantha and Hudson Harder; a brother Arlan Van Roekel and his wife Barb of Des Moines; a brother-in-law Leland Foreman and his wife Jean of Fremont, Nebraska; six nieces and nephews; and fourteen great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son James; her father and mother Wallace and Arnetta (Brink) Van Roekel; Merlin's parents Jacob Foreman and Alice Foreman Vander Broek; and her step father-in-law Robert Vander Broek.
