Wilma Monast, 89, of Fort Smith, AR went to be with the Lord Thursday, April 21, 2011 in a local nursing home.

She was a retired sales clerk for a variety of department stores, a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, the Gleaners Sunday School Class, the Evening Stars United Methodist Women's and was a former member of the Bereaved Parents of the USA.

She was preceded in death by her son Allan Van Kooten and by her grandson Lucas Jackson.

Funeral service was 10:00 A.M. Monday, April 25, 2011 at Wesley United Methodist Church with burial in Steep Hill Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.

She is survived by one daughter, Kathy Jackson and her husband George of Fort Smith; two sons, Bryce VanKooten and his wife Sheila of Greenwood, AR and James Monast of Columbus, OH; three sisters, Leona DeRuiter of Pella, IA, Ruth Ringenberg and her husband Vernon of Bloomington, IL and Dorothy VanderPol of Oskaloosa, IA; two brothers, Verlan VanGorp and his wife Marilyn and Eugene VanGorp and his wife Luana all of Leighton, IA; nine grandchildren, Anita Kay and Wesley VanKooten both of Omaha, NE, Chad VanKooten of Fort Smith, Kobi Redman of Tulsa, OK, Trey Jackson of Fort Smith and Quinton VanKooten of Clarksville, TN and Max, Garrett and Peter Monast all of Columbus, OH; Fifteen Great Grandchildren,Moriah, Shelby, Justin, Chase, Tatum, Treaver, Presley and Cooper Van Kooten, Grace, Lily, Olivia and Sasha Redman, Luke, Carter and Drew Jackson

Albert Van Kooten, 95, of Greenwood, Arkansas, and formerly of Pella and Oskaloosa, Iowa, went to his Heavenly home on Saturday, February 7, 2015, while being cared for at Mercy Hospice in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

He was born January 4, 1920, in Tracy, Iowa, the son of Henry and Cornelia Schut Van Kooten.

In 1936 the family moved to a farm northwest of Oskaloosa, Iowa. In 1941 Albert took over operation of the family farm. He continued to run the family farm until he retired and moved into Oskaloosa in 1985.

On February 3, 1961, Albert was united in marriage to Marie Vande Kieft. Marie died November 28, 1998.

He moved to Greenwood to be near his family. He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Oskaloosa.

Albert is survived by son, Bryce Van Kooten (Sheila) of Greenwood and daughter Kathleen Susan Jackson (Terry McCleary) of Fort Smith; sister, Pauline Terpstra of Pella, Iowa; granddaughter, Anita Kay Van Kooten of Omaha, Nebraska; granddaughter, Kobi Jo Redman (James) of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandson, Chad Van Kooten (Tracy) of Fort Smith; grandson, Quinton Van Kooten of Georgia; grandson, Wesley Van Kooten (Angie) of Omaha; grandson, Trey Jackson (Audra) of Fort Smith; sixteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Hendrik and Cornelia Van Kooten; a total of sixteen brothers and sisters; wife, Marie Van Kooten; son, Allan Van Kooten, and one grandson.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 14, 2015, at First Christian Reformed Church, Oskaloosa, with Reverend Dale Visser officiating. There will be a family prayer service at 12:45 Saturday afternoon in the fellowship hall of the church. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation with the family will be held from 11:00 am Saturday morning until 12:45 Saturday afternoon.

Joseph H. Monast Jr. of Dublin, OH passed away peacefully on July 18, 2013 at age 87. A WWII Navy veteran, he was buried at the National Cemetery in Dayton on September 20, 2013 in a private ceremony. Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, September 22 at 2 p.m. at Discover Christian Church, 2900 Martin Rd., Dublin OH. Heaven is no doubt quite a bit louder now.

Joe Jr. was born to Alta Beman (Dugger) Monast and Joseph Monast Sr. in Oskaloosa, Iowa, on June 1, 1926.

He passed away on July 18, 2013, in Dublin, Ohio. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Lucille R. Dillon, who passed in December, 1988.

Obituary of George Jackson
George "Buddy" Jackson, Jr. 61, of Fort Smith, AR passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2011 in a local hospital. He was a retired fireman with the Fort Smith Fire Department for 25 years and the owner and operator of Amtax Corporation. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, and a beloved Fort Smith Church League baseball coach, official and volunteer. He was preceded in death by his son Lucas Jackson and his mother Norma Jackson.

Services are 10:00AM Friday June 17, 2011 at Wesley United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Steep Hill Cemetery accompanied by the Fort Smith Fire Department Color Guard under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith, AR

He is survived by his wife of 41 years Kathy of the home, a son George "Trey" Jackson III and his wife Audra of Fort Smith, AR, three grandchildren Luke, Carter and George "Drew" Jackson IV, his father George Jackson Sr., two sisters, Connie Pierson and Kitty Allen two brother-in-laws, Bryce Van Kooten and his wife Sheila and Jim Monast.

Pallbearers are Tim Atkinson, Kelly Beard, Ron Brooks, Don Foster, Curtis Massey, Chris Scherff and Louis Stroud.
