Memorial services for Abe Fransen Jr. will be conducted Tuesday March 29, 2011 @ 1:00 p.m. from the First Presbyterian Church of Elk City OK, with Rev. Greg Amen officiating.
Abe Fransen Jr. was born September 21, 1930 to Abe and Mary Fransen in Sibley Iowa, and passed away Thursday March 24, 2011 in Elk City OK at the age of 80. Abe grew up in Sibley and graduated from Sibley schools. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He married Theora Feenstra on August 13, 1951 in Sibley. Abe had a 19 year long career with Farner Bocken as a food service equipment salesman, and later bought and sold several motels. Abe and Theora moved to Elk City, OK in 1978 where He owned and operated the Quality Inn. Abe loved the outdoors, and hunting and fishing were his passions.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son Dennis Fransen.
Survivors include: his wife Theora Fransen of the home, four sons; Parker Fransen and his wife Mary of Manchester Iowa, Alan Fransen of Grove OK, Todd Fransen an his wife Jennifer of Elk City OK, and Scot Fransen of Elk City, one sister, Wilma Chase of New Braunfels TX, six grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
