Obituary of William

Mr. Sinkey was born Oct. 26, 1921, in Ireton, Iowa, the son of William and Nellie (Wiersema) Sinkey. He attended schools in Ireton. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1942 to 1946.

He married Nancy Van Roekel on April 26, 1946, in Sanborn, Iowa. The couple lived in Ireton, where he was employed with Sinkey Garage for five years. They then moved to a farm in the Ashton, Iowa area, where they farmed for 33 years. He retired in 1985 and they moved to Sheldon. His wife died June 11, 1996, in Sioux City. He entered Prairie View Manor in Sanborn, Iowa, in 1997 and Prairie View Retirement Home in 1999.

He was a member of First Reformed Church, where he served as deacon and elder and taught Sunday School and catechism. He was also a member of American Legion Post 145 of Sheldon and served on the Ritter Elevator board. He enjoyed playing dominoes and collecting toy tractors.

He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth; his parents; and three brothers, Pete, Frank and Jake.
